  1. Not upset because I think its hard, because its not. Even if I end up chopping all the logs for 80-90 myself (which I will because I refuse to spend money on a skill I never use). I'm a bit ticked off because I never planned on levelling the skill again, at least not past 85 which I thought was the upper limit for quest reqs, and because this is going to be a huge suck on my free time, and time spent not achieving my main goal of agile armour, because I want to keep my quest cape. Also, not everyone has the slayer to handle the jadinko lair. All in all, I probably wont be able to do this quest on the first day, which is a slight dissapointment since I normally make a point of having my quest cape back before anyone can make a coherent quest guide, which means I normally have to get them done in about the first 18 hours. This doesn't seem like a very important quest though, story wise (as in its not linked to other quests that are heavy on RS lore), so I'll be able to wait. I'd still like to have my cape when the month ends though. I wouldn't have minded a useful skill being picked. I have no use for an adze, unless I wanted to train firemaking super slow, since I am 99 wc, and I always cook things on a range because fires burn more, and I have access to the cooking guild range which is practically in the bank booth itself. The only thing the skill gets used for by me is some occasional use in dungeoneering. On the other hand, they could have picked a lot worse. They could have picked an expensive skill, or one that is slow to train. I just hope that lighting logs is the default option if you have both a knife and tinderbox in your belt (and it should be since fletching has a fletch-x option which fm lacks).
  2. I just about shit myself when I read the level req for the quest. If your going to make a req that high, can we please do it in a skill that is actually useful? I cook on a range, and I already have 99 wc so I have no use for an adze. The firemaking skill is probably the skill I could do without the easiest. [bleep]. On the other hand, its easy enough to train, though there is going to be a metric [bleep] ton of wood cutting in my future since I'm sure log prices are going to skyrocket (also, I don't think I will ever be so out of it that I would consider spending a dime on firemaking). I'm already 80, so I only have to double my xp in the skill plus a bit  This will also make firemaking my second highest skill (after 6 99's). Currently my highest after 99 is 85. Other than that, it looks good, but this is a real killjoy for me. Either the quest cape will go on hold, or my agility training will. Oh well, I will survive. BRING ON THE PAIN!
  3. I've been like 3 or 4 cars back from people in traffic and I could feel their [bleep]ing base in my car. You know what, I like my music a bit loud too sometimes (at hours that are cool with the people I live with, and don't annoy the neighbours), though not nearly as loud as some people. Anyway, I shouldn't be able to hear your music in my car over my music, let alone feel you music when I'm 30 [bleep]ing feet back. My only solace in that case was all his windows were up, which means he'll be stone deaf (at least to base) by the time he's 30. Probably had it up so loud cause he already damaged his hearing and needs it that loud just to hear as loud anymore. I still have amazing hearing. I will admit though, I can't blame people for doing it sometimes. Earphones are cool and all, but sometimes you want to feel the base, not just hear it. For that, you need a house to yourself. And for texting, I refuse to have a conversation that way. I text a bit, to confirm things, or ask/answer a quick question, but if you actually want to talk to me, your going to phone me. And if I want to have a conversation with you, I'm going to call you, not text you. It's not some philosophical issue with texting either, I just hate typing on my phone (I pretty much flat out refused to text before I got a phone with a full keyboard, and I still require my phone to have a full physical keyboard because I hate using touch screen ones).

  5. Aww, it was made up. Ah well. And thanks for the extra graphs. My guess is that the difference in education and and opinion are probably more related to age than to gender (especially the education). I find that getting older changes your world view a bit, especially from say 18-19 on (not sure where it ends, since I am in the middle of that changing view). And thanks for the explanation on the other category. Good work
  6. I had a friend who's family at one point upgraded from a CRT style TV (ie large and shitty) to an HD flat screen. This also came with the same problem, except the latency between input and reaction was enourmous. The game was actually responding correctly, and instantly, we just couldn't see it, which made the console (a wii using the s-video [red, white and yellow cables]) unplayable unless you could anticipate the two seconds into the future (since the TV was about 2 seconds behind reality). What I discovered was that some modern TV's take time to translate a signal from say s-video, which is capable of up to 480p, to the 1080 sized screen. This makes these TV's useless for video games unless the console has an HD output. Specifically, you'd almost certainly need to be using an HDMI cable, since that is the only cable capable of a full 1080 signal that is the native resolution of the TV itself. Anything less will cause lag. From the sounds of it, you have one of these TV's. The only solution is an HDMI cable as far as I know (or some other device that can convert the signal for you faster, if such a thing exists).
  7. All very interesting stuff, though I'd have to say its the survey that really caught my eye. I had totally forgotten that was going on (I was one of the respondents). There are 3 more sets of graphs I would love to see if possible. I would like to see the age, education, and opinion of Jagex graphs again, but this time split them up by gender. I would be very interested to see how they compare to each other. And I had to laugh at the other category in North America. I am guessing that 3% is either from Mexico, or people from Quebec being funny. Since you called it other and not Mexico, I have to wonder if it was a combination of the two? I'd love to know what the breakdown for that 3% was too. The teasers were interesting, though I have to admit I am very tentative about the idea of a Graphics month. I am envinsioning even higher computer loads, and an interactive content free month. Then again, I have a lot of agility (and farming apparently  ) training to do, so no new distractions could be good for me. Also, a good article by Bly. It is nice to see another perspective on the issue, and it might reduce the arguing surrounding the issue too, which would be a relief for everyone I'm sure.

She's a minor though, so I'm not sure what the rules are regarding if she can press charges without a parent. It still might be worth a visit. I'm not sure on that either, but I'm sure they would be happy to help you sort it out. You'd need to do it soon though. Today has been a slow day. We are having our new years feast tomorrow so that some of the family can make it out who are otherwise occupied today. Then its back to school (and my own house!).

If you don't have the money to go see a doctor for that sort of thing, then go to a police station. They wont charge you for it, though they would be happy to help you press charges for assult, which could easily include forcing him to pay her medical bills.
  10. Keep my Quest Cape Get full agile Get all 80+ And I'm thinking no 99's this year. They aren't fun for me, and they consume a lot of time.

I feel like people with non essential jobs (so excepting police, fire, and medical) should be given the day after NYE the day off (rather than the day before, for those who get that day off or go home early). My thinking is, that on NYE most people get drunk, and a lot of people get super drunk. The next morning, you have all these people driving to work and they are either hung over, or still drunk. Not the kind of people I want to share the road with (actually, I just wont drive any place on the 1st if I can avoid, it, especially before lunch). And adding to the joy of drunk drivers on the way home last night (because you don't need to be blitzed to have fun  ) what uber fog. In some spots I'm figureing that visibility was under 100ft, even on kilometer long strait stretches. At least it slowed all the drunks down (I spotted a few). You also couldn't see oncoming traffic more than 300ft off, which was a bit disconcerting. I was a bit dissapointed at the lack of DUI checkpoints. I'd rather see as many drunk drivers as possible get nailed. Other than that, terrific night
  12. H2PM, that blog entry is actually what reminded me to put that on my list. I get particularly annoyed since considering my long list of dietary restrictions that I am already under from a combination of allergies (such as a very painful one to both soy and milk), and digestive issues, a diet without meat would prove lethal to me. I firmly believe that if I need to take diet supplements to not drop dead, then there is something very wrong with what I am eating. I also pay very close attention to what foods I crave, since my body seems to have a pretty good handle on what it needs at any given time. Sometimes my body wants a salad, so I eat a salad. Sometimes the only food I can think about without feeling ill is chicken, so I eat some chicken. Since I don't eat much in the way of junk food or processed foods, I don't have to contend with things that are naturally rare that you body feels the need to stock up on no matter how much excess you have, which makes the food signals a pretty handy thing to follow. I have also yet to be accused of being even remotely overweight, yet neither am I a skeleton, so it seems to be working just dandy for me. As far as the other two go, they are both just plain rude, though the medical advice can also become dangerous pretty fast if the person giving it doesn't know what they are talking about (or learned from a source that was talking out its ass).
  13. Muggi has a good setup. Here is mine to give you an idea of another possibility. (The treasure room is the managerie. There was no symbol for that room in the program I used to make this) The workshop, menagerie, and glory are all directly off the entrace. Off teh room with the glory you have all your portals, plus your alter. Ideally, the managerie would be on the south side of the entrance and everything else would be another slot south so that I don't have to run north to recharge summoning and then back through the garden to get to everything else, but since it would probably save about 10 minutes over the course of my life, I prefer my layout the way it is.

Ooo, I really like that game. Never played any of the expansions though, and I know precious few people other than myself who are even willing to play a board game (silly computer generation >.>).
  15. Unsolicited diet/health advice. Unsolicited religious views. Unsolicited comments about eating meat (from vegetarians/vegans). Your not a doctor, I don't want to convert, and I'm not sitting here trying to make you eat meat so put the broccoli down and shut the [bleep] up.
  16. True, I'm not really sure how it works in the States. Even our Catholics up here in the north have toned it down a bit, but a huge portion of Canada isn't even religious at all at last count iirc (something like 40%). I can sort of see it since religion seems to play a hefty part in American politics, where as up here, I don't even know what religion if any, any of our politicians belong to (nor do I care), and I'm certain most people would be just as clueless on that subject as I am. Not saying we pick anything better to base our elections on, since our politicians are just as big a bunch of liers as yours, just saying religion is a much smaller factor in our day to day lives. I also realise that a lot of people cant seem to grasp the live and let live philosophy. I will never understand how someone else practising a different faith than yours can possibly offend anyone, though a quick look at something called history is showing that a lot of people get very offended over this, for reasons that totally baffle me (this is one case where I don't even want to understand how people can be like that, lest I risk becoming that way myself). At the moment, I am not too tickled pink with some atheists since at least around here, they are the only group making a stink about religion (which I am finding to be no end of irony).

It's raining today. I don't want the fireworks to be cancelled :(
  18. I would like to point somerthing out. Not all Islamic or Christian people condem non believers. I'm Christian, and my particular faith has never made claim to be the right religion let alone condem those that don't follow it. That would be on par with claiming that all Muslims wan't to see America burned to the ground. The church I belong to is the United Church of Canada, which is the second largest religion in the country second only to Catholicism. The second largest religion in the second largest country in the world (by land mass  ) doesn't give a flying [bleep] what religion people belong to. Anyone is welcome regardless of their faith, and we don't judge anyone who either doesn't believe in God, or chooses to worship God in another way. I'll grant you that some denominations of Christianity most certainly do consider themselves to be the one true path, seek to convert others, and even condemn those who don't believe what they believe. But Christianity and Islam are big religions, with a lot of denominations. Not all Christians get along with each other any more than all the Islamic faiths do. Just something to think about before you paint such a broad stroke. I've probably mentioned this before, but as long as someone else's faith doesn't impede my ability to practice my faith, and doesn't endanger other people (that means no active conversion, no religious wars, no human sacrifice, etc.), then its not my place to judge or object. If someone doesn't believe in God, that's cool too. The way I see it, as long as someone does the best they can, that's all anyone or anything could ever ask.

Taking a break from my castle. I've scraped the maze, finished the roof, added a glass underwater glass tunnel hatch that will lead to a nether rock fort on a mountionous pillar. I am never builinding another underwater tunnel again. Had to build it as a solid 5x5 from the outside, then hollow out the 3x3 interior to get rid of the water. In the hopes that one day I will get to defend one of my bunkers from a real mob attack, I have put a roof over a valley/pit I found, and am building a small bunker into the wall on one side. Having some fun creating security zones, so that when a creeper hopefully blows up a wall or two, I don't have mobs charging up the staircase after me (this would be more fun if there was a mob with the kind of ai to organize an attack). Also thinking about laying down a self destruct in the bottom level to take out some mobs, and then seal it off with a piston door. I suspect I'll probably manage to destroy it, and then I'll build something a bit better. And once I am done fooling around with that little project, I want to return to improving the mountain complex I built. I want to make it bigger for starters, but I also want to install either concealable exterior lighting (so that I can hide it to help mobs spawn at night, then light them up to help me shoot them from the camouflaging sniper nests. But since that might be bulky or ugly, I will probably make it a gridwork of redstone torches I can turn on and off. Lights not as good, but it will look a lot better I think. And after all that is done, there is large valley on the other side of the mountain range I built the bunker inside of. I've already built a little bit in there, but its hardly been started yet.

Agreed. Aside from the fact that grains make me sick if I have to much of them, I'm pretty certain that stuffing is like the perfect food taste wise. Everything about it is just ommmmmmmmmm =P~ Still, I have to wonder what would happen if I took something as perfect as stuffing, and added some melted cheese to it. Cheese makes most other things taste better, but maybe that's because it tastes awesome in its own right and drowns out the inferior flavours of lesser foods. Since cheese is inferior to stuffing, would the cheese make the stuffing worse, or would its near perfection add to the flavour? Since I probably wont be able to ever actually test this (there is never any stuffing in our house because most of us cant eat it, and I'm sure as hell not testing this at someone else's house), maybe someone can try this sometime and get back to me on how it went.

NYE tomorrow WOOOOOOOOOOO Also, I had to check that I was indeed on the today thread and not a reading thread at one point there. And I too missed the "at" in the 5 guys comment the first time, but I only had to get one word past it before my eyes went back and found the missing word so that was moderately less creepy than it could have been. Time to shower, maybe post on here again, watch some flashpoint and go to sleep. About bloody time the 31st arrived

Soups would be kind of hit or miss I think, and I am thinking that more watery soups like chicken noodle (as opposed to say tomato soup which is like a paste) might not work so well with cheese. I'm not a big soup person, so its harder for me to guess, but you might get away with a very light amount of cheese on most soups, assuming you like cheese enough. Still, the number of foods that cheese can improve (or at least not damage) is a lot bigger than the number it would harm. I'm thinking melted cheese on chicken/turkey  I wonder what it would do to the stuffing
  23. Duff, I guess I would open this with a question to you. Have you decided where you want this to go? I think if your going to go for this, and I'd say that you are, that you need to decide ahead of time (while your head is still clear) what outcomes are acceptable and what aren't, and if you have more than one acceptable outcome, then what is your primary goal? I'm working under the assumption that the friend was right, and she wants you back in your life. What I don't know, and can't make assumptions about, is whether she loves you, or just wants you back in her life as a friend. Going over that text her friend sent you, I think its very possible that she just misses seeing you. So before you do anything else, you need to decide. Do you just want to be friends, or do you want to try and form a relationship? If she just wants to be friends, can you handle that, or are you going to need to walk away? Best to try and get a handle on that now. I would highly recommend against letting her initiate contact again. If she feels like she is the only one who is trying to make something happen, she is probably going to have second thoughts and just back out. If you want to show interest in making something happen, either friendship or a relationship, but don't want to be the one suggesting the meeting place, then ask where she would like to meet. That way your engaging her without needing to make the choice, though I would suggest again, ahead of time thinking up a place just in case you need to say something. Preparation is never a bad thing.

Just the opposite. I'm not sure how much cheese is too much, all I know is I haven't reached that point yet. I love cheese. On boxing day my parents made something called pizza soup. It's pretty much just pizza toppings (pepperoni and cheese and stuff) in tomato sauce. Delicious :-D

Grapefruit is my favourite fruit. Given a handy and free supply of them, I would probably eat 2 or 3 of them a day at least all summer. Get enough of that citric acid in my blood to never get another mosquito bite again. Not a big fan of oranges though. I stopped eating them when I got sick of peeling the damn things. Now I just eat the occasional apples. And I think the perfect chili should be maybe 10 to 15% melted cheese by volume. Either parmesan or cheddar. That reminds me. I can't eat corn at all, unless I have a real hankering for an urge to vomit while totally [bleep]ing up my digestive system end to end. But I love tacos, which traditionally have a corn shell. The solution is super thinly sliced provolone cheese that you half melt in an oven, and then you hang the slices (on paper towel) over a broom handle so that they cool and harden into a taco shell shape. All things considered, my provolone tacos kick all kinds of regular taco ass, because my shells are made of cheese (with cheddar on top of course). Also, while the cheese gets fairly stiff once it hardens again, its a lot more forgiving than a normal taco shell, so they never explode while your trying to eat them.
