Runescape Quest Web
Very nice work. What we need is a program that could arrange all the bubbles for you to minimize the line crossing. I agree with others that it would be very neat you see it organized more by series, accounting for the actual story line, so that we can see visually how the different story arcs interact. This is awesome stuff

That castle looks like a mamouth project. Very cool. The exterior of the castle looks complete, but how much of the interior do you plan on doing? I assume you are going to try to reproduce most of the stuff seen in the movies?

Why does society dislike men having long hair?
While I agree with all the stuff about care, and for sure how you look is going to have an impact, I think there are also some accepted norms to consider. I could go through the list of the odd jobs I do associate long hair on guys with, but I think this sums up society problem a lot more concisely. A rebel. When someone is sitting there doing interviews, and they see someone with long hair, they are going to think 'I don't want a rebel working for me'. At least, I think that's what my subconscious is saying. There are certain looks that like it or not, say things about you, and hair styles can certainly be a part of that.

Why can everyone here do Calculus. This is creepy. I'm not used to being around a bunch of mathy people anymore :ohnoes: Still raining, which is nice. I love the sound of rain on the roof when I am going to sleep. I remember one of the beaches I used to lifeguard at sometimes used a shipping container as a storage unit for the gear (actually, a number of our beaches are like that), and it acts as shelter when its raining and there is no one at the beach. My partner liked to go to sleep on the heavy rain days (I think the best was when his mother showed up and found him sleeping). Anywho, the rain was really loud inside the container (being all metal and all), and I found it to be an awesome sound.

Oh lets see, this takes me back. My only beef here is that these rules are normally used trig functions. Oh well, I have a chart knocking around for that. Product Rule: d/dx (uv) = u'v +uv' so for y = 5x^(2)sin(x) let u = 5x^2 and u' = 10x let v = sin(x) and v' = cos(x) y'=10x sin(x) + 5x cos(x) Quotient Rule: d/dx (u/v) = (u'v - uv')/v^2 so for y = [sin(x)]/[2x^3] let u = sin(x) so u' = cos(x) let v = 2x^3 so v' = 6x^2 y'= [2(x^3)cos(x) - 6(x^2)sin(x)]/4x^6 = 2(x^2)[(x)cos(x) - 3sin(x)]/4x^6 = [(x)cos(x) - 3sin(x)]/2x^4 Think I did all that right. And no, I am not going to do the chain rule right now.

:wall: And that's what happens when you don't touch calculus for almost a full year. Doesn't matter now. I'm either going to finish my degree in Economics, which is mostly statistics, or I'll get into paramedicine. If I stay in Eco, I'll have to take some calculus, but probably nothing even close to the stuff I was doing in Engineering.

Well, if you haven't studied it yet, I guess you don't need to know it. This is making me realise that while I might remember the concepts of Calculus, I probably couldn't manage to derive y=x^2 (I know its y=x, just not how to get it) without needing to look something up. My how the math skills atrophy when they aren't used anymore. Freaky. This almost makes me want to read my calculus for dummies book tonight and brush up, because I can objectively observe myself getting dumber (math wise). Someone bear with me while I do some calculus to make myself feel better (there's a phrase you aren't going to hear much): y=2x^2 y'=(2)2x^(2-1) =4x^1 =4x There, I can still do the power rule. Yay me.

Pre-Calc doesn't deal with integration or derivation. Those are the core of real Calculus. Pre-Calc should eventually deal with permutations towards the end of the grade 12 level, and the last thing you do will probably be a bit of work with limits. If your in grade 10 or 11, then that's why you don't have any idea what I am talking about.

Diablo III
Was the argument "Hey, you should go pre-order Diablo III, since it's Diablo III"? That's the only argument someone needs  That's what I was thinking. "It's Diablo III" is really all you should need to say. This should be one heck of a game release.

How the hell do you learn Calculus and not limits? Limits are the thing they force you to learn before they let you derive or integrate, because you need to know how that stuff actually works before they give you the formulas that make everything so much easier. I may have jetesoned my knowledge of how to work with limits at the first sign I wouldn't ever have to do them by hand again in my life, but there are some fundamental concepts in there that are fairly important if you ask me. Without ever having gone through that, calculus is just a bunch of magical formulas. You might as well be performing mathematical witchcraft :P Also, don't fall asleep to Criminal Minds. It turns your mind into a kaleidoscope of crazy. I did get to drive a Ferrari (only in my head) though, which I guess is a bonus? Not a whole lot else going on. I learned that if I don't put shoes and socks on that my room is apparently cold enough to make my feet go numb, but not cold enough to make me go put my shoes on until I want to go someplace. Also, its raining, though I cant say that's new. It seems to be slowly becoming the new norm here weather wise, though maybe that means we'll end up with a lot of snow before Christmas (I do love a white Christmas. The last few have been a little on the green side).

Hot celebrities/models!! :) Post them here!!
[hide] *gulp* [/hide]She looks like she's 12 imo. Still cute though (in a totally not creepy way). And because this thread needs a guy every once in a while, I present Jason "Will Bad-ass 4 food" Statham! Also a huge fan of a number of his movies, following this awesome rule I found:

Food
Urgh, melted margarine? If you want to use margarine instead of butter, that's cool. More power to you. But this reminds me of being at my brothers and making popcorn. They prefer margarine, but unknown to me they also keep a stick of butter specifically for popcorn, because melter margarine on popcorn tastes like death. It's just a soul crushing taste. The only thing it was good for was allowing me to spread an incredible ammount of popcorn spice over it to try and mask the flavour. Butter tastes amazing once its melted (it also tastes totally dreadful if you lick unmelted butter off a knife). Margarine, at least to me, most certainly does not. I think one of the best tasting things I have ever eaten is also one of the simplest possible things to prepare. Its a butter and peanut butter sandwich (yes you need both), folded in half. And don't try to make it with two slices of bread, it has to be folded in half. It's just one of the most incredible tastes ever. Oh, and as far as I'm concerned, use white bread. The flavour of any other type sucks the awesome out of it (but then, I hate all non white bread).

What's the player base like these days?
This is essentially what I do once I am in game. I am part of a clan, and while I was initially a stranger to just about everyone, I've found some great friends. The clan has quality standards, and it gets rid of those that don't meet them. But then, all the BS doesn't even bother me that much. I'm a bit bored with the game, so one of my favourite activities is people watching. It is totally fascinating watching how people interact online vs the real world. About the community being shit though, it all depends on how hard you look. First, people are naturally inclined to remember the negative much more strongly than the positive. Also, all the people who aren't involved in being ass clowns aren't going to be inclined to talk in public. Their either keeping to themselves to avoid attracting attention so that they don't have to deal with the immature, or they are already involved in talking with their friends in private, friends or clan chats. The real trick is meeting the good people, who I would say are still the majority, because they have all learned to avoid public interaction. Public chat isn't worth fighting for, so we all retreated to environments where we can exercise for control.

Drinking/Drugs
Studying the detrimental health effects in detail. That was enough to keep me from ever getting addicted to them - I only smoke cigarettes on special occasions, like when I'm visiting an old buddy. Just taking a shot in the dark here, but I'm fairly certain that only works before your addicted. Once your addicted, you can point out or study the effects of smoking till your blue in the face, the cows come home, and pigs fly, and it wont make an iota of difference. I think no matter how you choose to go about it, your in for one hell of a battle with yourself. I imagine the patches and gum probably do help to some extent, since the withdrawal would be caused by your body panicking because there is no nicotine (well, that's most of it at least). The gum/patch will give your body some of that nicotine, which should lesson the withdrawal. The other thing you'll have to deal with is the habit itself. I have heard that a lot of people find that that reaching for a cigarette is so automatic that they need to find something to replace the habit with. This shouldn't be as hard though, it would be akin to teaching yourself to tie your left shoe first instead of your right one (except that most people don't tie their shoes up multiple times per day). I think the time line to change a habit like that is about a month for your brain to rewire it. And as a personal thing, when I really need to kick my own ass to get myself to do something, I find it helps to be accountable to someone other than myself. I can talk myself into procrastinating till judgement day if I want to, so being accountable to someone who is going to expect me to get shit done no matter what I say can really help me out. I don't know if this would help with an addiction or not, since the only thing that would pass for an addiction that I have ever dealt with is giving up caffeine, which doesn't exactly cause withdrawal (that experience was enough to convince me that getting addicted to just about anything would be a major problem for me though). Still, my thinking is that the normal reason for someone making huge lifestyle changes (and I would certainly consider this to be one), is for other people (love). Maybe there is something to that.

Had at least one crazy ass weird dream last night (actually, I'm pretty sure I had 3, maybe 4, and none of them were any better). Now I'm up late and not to stoked about going to sleep again. Didn't bother me at the time, but now that I remember what one of the dreams was, I have to wonder what is waiting for me. Blah. Other than that, I had a totally lazy day today, and didn't get anything done, so now I have a giant pile of stuff to look forward too tomorrow. I guess I also have to start getting ready to move home for what will probably be about two weeks. It will be nice to see my parents again, but its been a long time since I visited them (I must be up to two strait months now). I like seeing them and all, but I am also really used to being on my own, and it gets worse every year. Not sure how well I am going to take being under their roof for so long. Sometimes I wish I could skip this part of my life, and fast forward to the part where I have an education, a job, and a family. This part of my life has been a tonne of fun, but I've had my fill. I want to move on. And congratulations on the prefect positions both of you. I have to ask though, do you both go to boarding schools? I've never encountered any other type of school that has them (though I know some where boarding is optional).

Sure does. Don't worry, the twins come out of hiding once the water goes away.

That's a LOT of books (I count 15 including the little one on the bottom). I hope they aren't as much as university text books or else that pile looks like it would be worth 2 or 3 grand easy! Have fun reading up about planes  And I love how you have one on meteorology. I never gave it much thought before, but I guess a working understanding of how the weather works (and how it impacts on flight performance) would be very useful knowledge for a pilot.

Which GE do you use?
I use the NW one almost exclusively, since I almost always travel to the GE via Edge or Fairy Ring. I never use the ROW or diary teleport.

Ring of Wealth
Charms don't count. Charm drops are entirely independent of all other drops. For the purposes of blank spaces, any time you get a charm and nothing else this would be a blank drop (though there are blank drops on the regular drop table too, not just the one that the RoW affects).

Diablo III
Yeah, you have a better idea of what is going on if you have beat the expansion to Diablo 2. I suppose in defence of the trailer though, there are very few humans who would have ever known what happened, and since this seems to be transpiring a goodly time after the events of Diablo 2, your actions in previous games are probably already becoming mere legends. Who knows.

Categorization of Members as "Pro"
I wouldn't be surprised if there is already a picture knocking around with the name 'member' and this was done to avoid confusion. This sort of thing is pretty much at the whim of the web content team. They'll call stuff whatever makes their lives easier, so this probably doesn't reflect anything beyond the thought process of whoever selected that name for the pic. It's still interesting, since I'm sure some people will see this as elitist or whatever. A tired membership system would be interesting, but I think that at least for now, Jagex is trying to keep their members on roughly the same level (obviously the loyalty program is messing this up a bit). I do suspect that adding a new player tier to the game would require a substantial amount of programming work, unless they set the game up to add a new tier easily the last time they overhauled the game engine. I also doubt that they have the resources right now to take on that kind of job; most of the resources that would go into something like that seem to be allocated to anti-bot updates still (since they are still working on the screen reader problem).

At certain levels in some sports, fighting is sort of encouraged. An example would be the Quebec Major Junior (QMJHL) in Canada. If there isn't a fight in one of these games, people get upset. Part of the reason you go to a Q game is to see a fight (or two if your lucky). I think the same applies to the NHL a bit too. I imagine that having a fight every once in a while is good for the ratings. There will be certain players on a team who fight (these would be the ones that wont kill you if they get suspended or hurt). Also, fighting in Hockey is so common that there is an etiquette for it, that is generally stuck to, and prevents people from getting seriously hurt. I'm not sure how fighting works in sports like basketball, because I don't watch very many sporting events.

Diablo III
This is the first game I can ever remember being excited for. I've been waiting for this one for years. If they are doing a beta now, I guess that means it's finally getting close to release.
