Maybe I'm the only one here who looks around and goes "oh! shiny buttons!" and then has to push them all. Doesn't matter, not my blog. If you found any of my posts you really want to share, I don't mind Ginger. Not like people can't find them anyway. I might even get a laugh out of it. Not sure if the reverse is me posting your early posts, or removing mine. I might do the first one, though probably not. Movie Maker has animations? Or by animations do we mean transitions. I've also never gotten the comic sans hate. I wouldn't even recognize it for what it is, it's just another in a sea of endless fonts. The only ones I can actually pick out are windings and monotype corsiva (which I am appalled to see my current version of word doesn't have). For super smash bros, I favor the original, but after that I would definitely take Brawl over Melee. I also dislike Double Dash compared to the N64 and Wii.
  2. I think the failing of EoC is that they started trying to bring all the combat styles in line with each other, and then gave up and went back to a melee centric game, and even gave melee new weapons that are above the rebalanced combat triangle entirely. Melee still has the lions share of the abilities and the equipment despite everything they did trying to bring other skills up to snuff. In general, I also still find the new system to be quite restrictive. Your choices for tactics seem to be stunning or not, and whether you want to go defensive. Yaaaay? That's a sliding line scale with a check box for stunning, and I would have preferred to see something more than that. Melee is already situated for much more specialization to attack and strength, and even though range and magic lack the extra skill, they could have been given abilties that specialize further as well. I'd also like to see proper counter moves, both for use against other players and bosses. A counter move would be something that should negate or reduce a specific attack and give you a chance to score a guaranteed hit in return. And looking at Quyneax above me, I'd like to see adrenaline start at around 50-70%. I'd rather not have the ultimate's be the first moves out the door, but I shouldn't be scrambling to maintain it between fights, or fighting bosses who are very nearly dead by the time I get up to that point.

Every time someone says this I get the inexplicable urge to go remove any of my remaining old posts from public view. Every time. But it's nice to see how far you have some I suppose. Had a first today. While showing the house to a prospective tennent I got asked "do you like super smash bros?". I'd like to credit myself with barely pausing to consider the question since that would certainly make the list of 'questions I least expect to be asked while house showing'. Still, if they take it, I'll finally have another proper gamer in the house, and that's win. They even have an N64 (my preferred format for SSB because sometimes old things are the best).
  4. That's sort of beyond the scope of my argument. I am clarifying general usage per Jagex, and in general. Instead of the spirit, I'd say the players get emergent gameplay. The freedom to turn the game into whatever they want. The reality of the game will always be some compromise between the spirit of the game, the developers, and emergent gameplay, the players. There is no intrinsic right or wrong to the spirit of the game or emergent gameplay. They are just phrases which describe the developers vision, and the players ability to use the game in a new, unintended way.
  5. I would argue that the spirit of the game lies more with the developers than the players. As a point of fact, the usage "against the spirit of the game" coming from Jagex specifically means something that is not against the rules, but which they do not approve of. So far, it has been used (I believe exclusively) to describe situations where players are taking advantage of other players using methods not covered by the rules, such as luring. The spirit is what the creator envisions something to be, just as the spirit of the rules is what the person who wrote them intended the scope and purpose to be.
  6. I've played Ago of Empires Rome expansion, which was great, but I really like AoK and the expansion for it partially just for the better gameplay (though I love the paladin and trebuchet). I saw this on steam, but I can't say I was very taken with it seeing as water aside it looks identical to the old game as far as I can tell. When I saw that, I was hoping for some like, redone models to bring them a bit more into the modern age, and if we were really lucky a 3D engine more inline with a game like Empire Earth that would allow us to rotate the camera a bit. I actually have Age of Mythology, but I have never been that taken with it (same for Age of Empires 3).

I still say you should probably do at least one or two rounds through windows movie maker for sheer simplicity. It's a good way to get comfortable with the basics before you complicate your life with other features you'll inevitably want to use just because they're there. As for throwing out the script, probably a good idea. If your going to write it all down, might as well do a normal blog. Just have a rough idea what your going to talk about and you'll get a more natural feel. I'd also expect you get more comfortable being on camera, and seeing yourself on camera overtime the more you do this sort of thing.

Perhaps the patriotic fight can stop now? As delightful as this is, everyone seems to be fighting against a nonexistent foe, and people are rapidly closing in on the point where I start handing out warnings and bans on the grounds of insulting other peoples countries and cultures.

Windows movie maker? If your not doing special effects, WMM works just fine.

I can sympathise with the dream that is so awesome the rest of your day sucks by comparison. I think all lucid dreams fall into that category as well, regardless of what you were doing.
  11. You can never say for certain without knowing someone, and friends make great translators for this sort of thing, but saying something like that is certainly in the realm of possibility of being a full on invitation to invite her to the prom. Sounds like the two of you are at least friendly, so unless I missed something and you have a date, you should probably ask her, and soon.
  12. Does this take place before he ascended? It seems like we really want Saradomin to be the bad guy here  Just being picky here, but at least under god letters lore, only Guthix is/was a shape shifter. That said, they've made changes, such as giving Guthix a gender and a mortal origin story, so I suppose there is no reasonable expectation that the god letters are still considered cannon. The update looks nice, though I would have actually liked to see them make a new generation of quests that are post world wakes, that can't be completed until that quest is done. Kind of makes your charecter a time traveler otherwise but whatever. I'll be trying this out later, and I already did the quest so no time travelling for me (until I go back and finish the quests I've not yet done).
  13. Makes sense, as long as you don't let too much time pass. And touching on what Omar said, having a plan is always in your favor, even if your the happy go lucky type. Have an idea or two of what you might do together floating around so that you have something off hand in you need it. If you start hanging out, an extension of planning is to not use the words "talk to you later". Replace later with something like tomorrow or a day of the week, maybe specify a general time of day if you like. Especially early on, people tend to get hung up on when they should call/talk again, or when the other party is going to get in contact, and being a bit more specific sidesteps a lot of that.
  14. So I remembered this game today, and scored another victory on easy (given how rough this was, doubt has set in about doing this on normal). It was a bit sad though. I made it through because pretty much the entire ship was pimped out, and it took mercifully few hits to weapons, engines, and shields during the final fights. A glaive beam, a 2 burst hull laser, and a basic laser was all I had for offence, in addition to a 2 pad teleporter. The teleporter saved the ship when 2 of my 3 repair crew invaded and disabled the missile launcher, which was doing serious damage even against my 55% evasion. In the end, those same two officers sacrificed their lives to bring down the boss agility in a desperate bid to take down the shields. I lost my teleporter right after they beamed in, but they managed to get the pilot away from his console. I'm not sure if that actually helped, but my lasers finally managed to weaken the sheilds for that final blow from the glaive beam. My crew died in the moments before I weakened the shields, to be avenged moments later with my victory (with a single life point remaining). Still, I am sad that I couldn't save everyone, especially since they weren't really soldiers, but 2 of the 6 crew I picked up along the way (I was down to one of the original 4 by the 3rd sector. I didn't get a new gun until sector 8). Nice to win with a different ship though, a type B kestral. I was really wishing for that artillery beam though. The glaive is unmatched if you can bring the shields down, but the artillery beam is where it's at against massive shields and insane agility.
  15. Alrighty, added that one in.
  16. This is due in no small part to skilling bots. If gamers had to really on non-botters for the supplies generated by skilling, skilling would be a much more lucrative endeavor. Too true. We almost got to see what the game arguably should look like during the bot nuke, though I'm not sure it really lasted long enough for the game to properly start running out of supplies on a global scale. Wasn't really paying attention, I spent two weeks in the sorceress garden because it was actually possible to do well for that brief moment in time (and I got freaking good at it too, was a lot of fun). As for the non combat skills ever being true competition for the combats...yes and no. I think Hunter probably holds the record for profitability outside combat, mostly enjoying the collasal xp rate that is chinchompas and the demand that comes with it. The skill could give out very high profits back when boss hunting was much less lucrative, and more recently grenwalls have been quite impressive, though nothing compared to contemporary boss hunting of any quality. I don't think any other non combat has ever matched hunter, though I feel like either herblore or farming was once extremly lucrative (maybe both?). And going with what I just posted, this does lay not insignificantly at the hands of the bots and gold farmers, but where combat has become many times over as profitable as it once was, most of the still profitable skills are a fraction of their income several years back, with fishing being an easy example. Of course another problem is the rise of the everyman, and the skill cape. When a skill such as cooking stopped being a means to an end, people trained it for the sake of training it, and not as an extension of their own lively hood. Suddenly the xp is worth more to people who want it, and many people who fight can also cook (and even catch) their own food, so there is just less need. And maybe all this is the inevitable conclusion of a game without classes. By leaving people free to train any skill they wish without restriction, some of the specialty markets will start to fall to people who would rather do it themselves. I know I've never needed to buy my own food, except for brews for a couple fights. Everything else I can supply in house, and always have.
  17. Might want to add the pic with the sword =d... Added all the ones we got >.>
  18. I too am having a bit of trouble following everyone's math. On a 60:40 payout, with 100 x 1m bets at perfect distribution, 100m is removed for each of the 100 x 1m bets, and 80m is paid out to the 40 x 2m winners, for a net loss of 20m. A winner in a double payout should be up by the total of their bet, not twice their bet; in this case 1m higher than before they placed the bet, not 2. Queyneax is right, if your getting +20m then you forgot to remove the original bets for the winners and effectively gave a triple payout. As for the change to the spam filter, it's nice to see the rule once again being interpreted and enforced in a manner which makes sense, which is to combat any unnecessary spam regardless of topic. Sometimes I wonder if they don't give warning as a publicity stunt. A lot of people will/have found it quite amusing to see the hosts finally muted without warning, fair or not.
  19. Normally try to do this a bit sooner...but moving on. Tomorrows (probably) update today. Was titled as events.

Not sure about not being able to talk or lot, but every single story I have heard from anyone who had their wisdom teeth removed would suggest you absolutely want to take a day off work. If someone would like to explain how they do it, I've actually forgotten. I'd look it up, but I think any place that has the procedure probably has a picture of it, and I find it bad enough thinking about it.
  22. My issue with the game as it is now is that the the non combat skills have become second class. If your not boss fighting, merchanting, or gambling hosting, then your poor. End of story. This thread has reminded me of a time long gone when the income disparity was not so bad, when hunter was more money than many combat activities. The fighters have always been wealthy, but for a long time there was also a dependancy on the skillers that doesn't seem to exist. In most games, the pursuit of experience also gains you wealth. It is actually quite odd to have a game where you end up in a position to pay through the nose to effectively train, when the status quo is more broadly that you would just be getting less rich. I am also going to lay some of the blame at the way weapons and armour keep getting released to satisfy a need for progressively better armour and weapons (a need that didn't exist for years), coupled with the departure from putting these items in stores (I just realized I haven't visited a shop more than a handful of times in the past two years) which served to keep the non candy items at price ceilings. I certainly wouldn't mind a return to that system, where it was the candy items, more advanced or prettier veries on the higher teir items, that were valuble. The moster hunters still had their wealth, and the wealthy still had their elite items. But income disparity was not always a barrier to higher levels of gameplay. The game does sort of remind me of EVE now, which is wealth driven by design. I still can't believe someone made a space combat game where space fights are entirely secondary and it turned out massively successful. Capitalisim - The Game
  23. Moved most of the posts about access to high items and wealth into a new thread, which can be found here. Discussion was getting a bit beyond the scope of this thread, and it seems to be a worthy discussion point in it's own right. Please direct any further posts on that subject to the new thread.

I looked at the video, and I'm all like "wait, I've seen her before". Recognize her from Devin Grahms channel (devinsupertramp). I never realized she was so popular, or that they had done more videos. Very cool.
  25. I wouldn't just say "I don't want to date you". I'd just let it be known quite obviously through my body language that, while I'm happy to be friendly, I don't reciprocate her flirting. ;) EDIT: Going to remake this, since sometimes I feel like I am letting my crazy out. Depending on just how into you she is, and how much drama she is prone to, you might be in a situation where trying to ignore it will ultimately make it worse. I'm a bit wary of people who impose themselves into my schedule instead of asking me out to do something, but maybe that's just me. I probably wouldn't do anything right away, since coming out of the blue like that is a good way to be known as a lunatic, but if she doesn't take the hint after a couple weeks, I'd seriously consider having the just friends talk or something.
