I had thought moonshine was stronger than absinthe. Looked it up, and apparently it's a little past Vodka? Finally got past my last midterm, though I am starting to get concerned about how I react to stress as time goes on. Hopefully enough to give me that last push to perhaps approach this sort of thing with a bit more sanity in the future, because I can't do this again for my 3 back to back exams. That just wont happen, I wont have enough energy left to think if I do. Oh well, it's a load off for the moment, and something I can avoid thinking about for at least a week. We actually had a partial snow day yesterday. Pretty decent snow storm over night, though winter has been making a strong comeback for a week or so now. It's kind of depressing if you compare it to last year, since there were days around this time that you could wear shorts and teeshirt, or at least not need a coat. Back to winter jackets full time, though the snow isn't sticking very well.

It does, but I'm willing to put up with it for convenience. I definitely get a bad shot every now and then, but not being a proper sniper it's normally recoverable for me. It's never been bad enough to not work, or had any large swings in range or speed on any given day. Air would certainly be preferable though, no argument there. But for now, good enough is good enough.

Things that annoy the HELL out of you.
I suddenly remember EA winning last year. As richly as EA deserves it, I don't really think they should be the top winner if only because the Bank of America has a bigger impact on peoples lives. As it stands right now, I wouldn't be at all surprised to see a similar outcome to last year, with EA and Bank of America as the semi finalists with EA winning because more gamers than outraged bank customers are likely to vote in an internet poll. There is something that keeps bugging me, and I can never remember what it is (this is a peeve I think, not a major issue). I guess not being able to remember what annoys me, annoys me.

Don't allow users to have large signatures if they're not allowed.
We currently have signatures limited as much as is possible in line with the rules, such as limiting the physical size of an individual image, and the number of images allowed. We are not however able to limit the file size of an image. I can understand this being a frustration, especially if your used to forum software which does have this option, and I will double check with the other admins in case this is something that can be enabled back that I am simply not seeing right now. For now though, it is simply not an something we can do with this software suit.

Age of Empires II : HD
Something I had not considered either. I didn't start to really give notice till mods until after the AoE series. In fact, I discovered modding with the very next RTS I played which was start trek armada (the Star Trek vs Star Wars mod is flipping fantastic). For some reason I guess I have it in my head that modding didn't exist until I discovered it, which is of course total nonsense. This will probably become something I watch from the sidelines, and if I see something really good I'll join up. The series was certainly good enough that I don't begrudge giving them more money as post thanks for making my childhood that much more awesome, but I do want to be getting something back out of the deal beyond what I am seeing right now if I am going to give them this much money.

Someone is going to have to explain to me what I am seeing in that picture. Anyone here every play the game in 3D mode? I find it very difficult to build in on account of of the crosshair not being rendered in 3D with the rest of the game, but I love to walk through a base, or gaze at the terrain every once in a while with it enabled. The only problem is I have homemade 3D glasses, so the color isn't quite right, so looking at certain colors I actually end up seeing a fairly strong double or triple image. Still, the 3D effect is not wasted on this game. EDIT: Also, probably partly because I use not quite right glasses, certain colors such as orange (lava) end up being a bit washed out).

"I want a girlfriend/boyfriend", and other such relationship advice
I can't remember if this has been posted here before or not, and if it has then just ignore me I guess, but an interesting video on the friendzone and friendship in general if you have 10 minutes. (and if this has been posted here before, then a fantastic example of how the human brain is quite lazy about remembering where information comes from)

Odd how it works out that the quarry has sort of become the gold standard. I guess that's a cue that people think it's reasonable. It does create an issue with anything else that does a similar purpose though, that anything much faster or easier like the destruction catalyst is OP, and anything slower like the arcane bore is pointless. Of course, the issue only applies to the mod packs, which further complicates things because now the mods have to be reasonable on their own and in potentially unpredictable combinations. As I side note, I hate how everything explosive in EE eats water, rather than acting like TNT. Water screens are really useful for controlling explosions or protecting structures in a blast zone, and none of the new explosives work that way. Also, all the explosives lack the explosion sound. Of course, it applies to any other mod that does this as well (I can't remember which mod nukes belong to, but they behave the same as the catalysts). I should give Voltz a spin at some point. It doesn't seem to be the great for building anything, but it's great for reducing the landscape to molten slag as I understand it.

Not seem much of his solo stuff, though I really like him in lonely islands songs. The most delicious thing I have ever eaten in my life is a butter and peanut butter sandwich on white bread, folded in half. That first bite is seriously a trip to heaven itself. Peanut Butter and chocolate is a very close second, followed by turkey stuffing. Today I watched, and am watching, a lets play of factorio, a game which could very well cause me to vanish off the face of the earth for a day if I buy it. I also neded way out and lost an hour, and when I was done I had, what is now, about 2800 words on my ideal zombie game. I've never actually thought it through start to finish before, and I think I managed to combine pretty much the best elements of the main inspiration games of DayZ, left 4 dead, grand theft auto (setting), star wars battle front, subspace/continuum, and minecraft, into one coherent game. Essentially scavenging supplies from a world slowly being covered in a massive horde of zombies to outfit you base for a couple hours, before a massive showdown. Or if you have a few minutes, the full deal where I walkthrough the main inspiration (about a thousand words) and the game itself (the rest) it's on my blog. Other people have zombie survival plans, I have a zombie game.

My texture packs worked yesterday (last time I checked), but I'm not sure what the update is. Vanilla has no texture pack, and FTB is a few versions of the game back I think (and tekkit uses an older version still). I miss the equivalent exchange a bit, though I am interested to see what EE3 will look like, though what I know about it right now is pretty cool. Still, I really liked the condenser because it made a great garbage disposal. Now I'd probably end up storing a warehouse full of dirt, sand, and cobble stone (not sure if it was visible, but I actually have barrels set up in my sorting facility to deal with that stuff so it doesn't clog the chests), and then piping the rest into lava just to get rid of it. Especially since something like a fully powered quarry generates a staggering 18720 blocks an hour you have to deal with.

I actually use CO2 tanks, mostly for supply reasons. Many of the fields I frequent are smaller operations that don't supply air. Like the field with the village and castle I love so much, they only have I think 3 games scheduled this year. You can rent field at other times, but those are the big games they do. So I have a couple CO2 tanks, one 12 and one 24. I like the 12 for field play, and mostly use the 24 for off field work.

What you don't see in my pictures is me standing there staring at the screen for 15 minutes trying to figure out what I am doing. That build has actually been pretty good, though the pipe work for the 13 combustion engines I'm not using was a fine work of insanity. I've always been crazy though, even before I started working with redstone. As evidence I present this picture taken inside the 3rd structure I ever built, where you can see a panic room (fortress) built out of paranoia and boredom that comes complete with a panic room of it's own, pictured on the right. This was built on the third floor of an explosion hardened (at least on the first two floors, which one is just stone, no obsidian lining as you can see) tower. My hope has always been that one day, the enemies would be so smart that they would actually be able to blast their way into the tower, storm it, and climb the ladder up here for a fight, and I would then die cowering in the panic room while creepers blew their way into the main part while looking for me. The AI has gotten closer to that as well, but alas, this fortress would still never see action in any scenario I can conceive. Also, this 'panic room' might still be my favorite creation ever, because it is a perfect manifestation of how I started minecraft, and why I play. I was lured to the game by the concept of building a hole in the ground as shelter and lining it with traps to defend myself from zombies. And at the end of that zombie hidy hole, I want this thing to be there, and I want another one to be right behind it, in a massive, tiered, final defense, flipping the bird to the world that wants to kill me with zombies and explode me with creepers. This is the dream, that someday this, or a fortress like it, might be used. I don't care much for long builds though. The world that tower is in is largely clean, at least on that continent, but my larger underground complexes, and any work on the castle where I have mods, is all done in creative mode so it usually took a day or two to do, rather than months like that awesome castle up there.

Bah. From where I'm standing, anyone who likes apple pie clearly has broken taste buds. Also, apple cider. Apple cider makes apple pie look like shepherds pie, which can't be a real pie because it's fantastic. Although, looking back I see it was peanut butter pie, which might be alright (though in truth, aside from a general distaste for warm fruit I actually just don't like pie crust). It's pretty hard to mess up peanut butter. One of my favorite foods after turkey stuffing aka butt hole bread

I don't like pie :( Actually, desert was pretty much non existent in our house, and no one is quite sure why. We only got more advanced than berries/watermelon or ice cream on holidays or any other time we had company over. I'm not convinced I would have liked pie in any event, especially not any of the fruit pies. I hate warmed fruit, it's disgusting. Even chocolate fondue can't fix 'warm strawberry'. That said, if you can bake, always a bonus (assuming you cook too). Women like men who are handy in the kitchen.

I've certainly seen a couple EOG9's around, or at least markers I remember looking like that. I will try one at some point. Think one of my friends is getting a remote line for their A5 for the summer season so I'll probably bum that off them for a round or two. Less concerned about stability, more about snagging (which would be good to try with another marker) and just having a lighter gun. The tank gives it some heft. Also, you can't deny the fun of the pistol. I'm not sure what it is that makes it so much fun, though I'm willing to say half of it for me is using magazines (it totally completes the real life video game feel when you switch them). I often use it as my primary or only weapon for a round or two as well because it's a totally different play style (as it forces me to go offensive), and it teaches you fire discipline.

What updates would you like to see in EoC?
I think broadening out strength would be quite cool. I think it's quite silly to have 2 dedicated skills for one combat style and one for each of the others (and I know it was done this way because ranged and magic were originally secondary styles of combat, and they never fixed it when they changed that approach), and strength is the logical choice to bridge that. By the same token, you would also need to make it trainable from all three sides, much like defense. I'd probably keep the dedicated skills as requirements, and then add strength to them as well, much like how defense is often paired with the dedicated skills (magic, ranged, or attack). In this way, your general combat skills become strength, defense, and health, while the special combat skills (proficiencies) become magic, ranged, and attack (which might make more sense as melee). If they were to make this change, it might also be a good idea to allow people to swap their attack and strength xp if they choose to do so, since a lot of melee players focus more on strength, and it would be nice to allow them to reflect that focus in their post change levels.

Nice. Do you use it a lot as the main gun then? I've thought about remote lining both my guns at one time or another, though they are both still holding their own air and probably always will. I wouldn't mind lightening the custom a tad I suppose, though I've also figured that it would probably get in my way in the trees. For the pistol I'm happy enough with it as is I think.

Where are all the good guides?
I rather like the British accent myself :P A couple people have really nailed it that the constant tweaking is giving us, and I imagine every other fansite as well, a bit of a headache. One of the more brilliant examples was the item database, where Jagex changed the stats right as it was about done, requiring the crew to check every single weapon and piece of armour they had just done. Mostly, it just sucks up an immense amount of time, and then once you factor in doing things like the new quest guides and keeping up with other content additions, there is just a bit of a time shortage, which is unfortunately not a problem that we can always deal with quickly (like not being able to magic new staff into existence as needed, we have to find and train them). It's not being ignored, just not moving as quickly as would be ideal. There are also other ideas in the works that will help with the guides specifically, but again we need a certain level of manpower available before we can make any headway getting them going. Should be fun though. In the meantime, friends are fantastic. You might also consider picking the brains of some of your fellow users here in the help and advice section. A few of the TMHT frequent there, and many of them are quite accomplished boss hunters as are a fair few of our other users.

I'm quite a fan of paintball, or I suppose woodsball. Never played it in a proper arena. There are a few places around here with more of a scenario setup, with my favorite being a little village at the foot of a hill. The hill has a couple trenches dug in it; a small/crude one about halfway down and a much larger one near the top. The hill is flanked on both sides with little horseshoe shaped cover walls, and the field behind the walls also has a lot of cover walls set up which are useable in either direction. At the back of all that is a two story wooden castle for when the place get's really busy, and a campaign to take the castle starting at the foot of the hill can easily take a couple hours of nearly non stop fighting (usually 15 minute re-spawns). I've also played in winter, though not in a long long time. I had a friend growing up who had a property that was probably a couple acres, and mostly flat. It had some natural shelter we could use, and for the rest we built our own. He had a couple plywood shelters that we put together as well to speed things up, since you just needed to cover them up nicely. My current marker is a gold old 98 Custom. It's been working well enough I've never felt the need to upgrade to a new marker. Still using the flatline barrel for it as well, even though I normally play at close enough range that I really don't need it. Mostly at this point I actually enjoy having a short barrel for when I do end up in CQB, while still being able to knock one way out there if I get a chance. I have it mounted with a nice little dot sight, and since I also enjoy a good night game, I have a 45 degree double rail to sit on the barrel so I can get a laser and flashlight on there, and still be able to sight the gun if I want. Also stuck a stock on the back. Other than that, I also have a TiPX pistol which is where the laser sight lives during day games. Excellent for CQB with the size, and also good if the 98C needs a reload or if the flatline broke a ball at an undesirable time. It's come in quite useful a few times, and saved my 'life' more than once. I also like to do a round or two with it as my only gun, helps keep you sharp and can only make you a better player.

My wrist hurts just looking at that. I realized I never really took any photos of the underground complex I was working on. The railcraft stuff has still not materialized, but I've built most of what was ever going to be built inside the world anchor zone which currently encompasses much of the base except for parts of the wide open room. I'll install another one, or extend the old one, when I go to build the rail yard, but I need to get a lot further with mystcraft first. Got some pics for the parts I haven't shown, in the hide tags this time. Main operating room (1). Right side on the floor is the refueling pump for the lava tank, fed by the nether. Counterpart pumping station is bellow (2), powered by a redstone energy cell (for the liquid transposer which is quite a power hog). Connection is maintained by ender chest. Also of note by the fuel pump are two mfe's being fed by 5 geothermal generators embeded in the wall for IC power, as well as 3 energy cells. Two are fed from the power line and act as portable batteries of considerable power, and the third is installed as a buffer so that the base always has power. On the left side of the floor is a basic sorting system, designed for ore drops after mining trips. Runs ores through puverizers and induction smelters, with relays leading into both to provide a buffer (no relay on the center pulverizer to ensure all 3 get used rather than just the center). It's quite fun to watch, and it works at a pretty good clip, though the entire system running at once uses a hefty amount of power. Top left, the blue building, is the thaumcraft building, the interior found in (3). The odd floor colors designate positions for future objects. The red one to the right with the cane and wheat farm out front is the library and mystcraft room (4). The mystcraft portals are located under this building (5). The last two pictures are the thermopile farm (6) and the powerplant for buildcraft (7). I rigged up each set of 4 engines to be independent to avoid using more lava than needed, and because I just like it that way. Kind of rendered the sentiment moot with the geothermal generators since they draw full time, though the magmatic engines consume much faster I think. The thermopile farm is a bit of a pain, mostly because thermopiles don't produce much power, and bluetricity travels quite poorly. Right now it just powers a couple sorting machines though (none of the bluetricity stuff uses much power, and everything has a buffer in addition to the battery boxes, so it all works out just fine). [hide] (1) (2) (3) (4) (5) (6) (7) [/hide]
