L337 xmas pixel [update #5]- bg linework almost done
dark_shadow replied to dark_shadow's topic in Art and Media
actually the reindeer is a female, as with the deers used by santa :D (the males dont have their antlers in winder, xmas time, only the females do) it probably dosnt look very 3D cause i forgot to add muscles to the back end of the deer  im also going to fix some things with the sleigh, hopefully make it a bit more 3D. also going to add a dog standing on top of the prezzie bags in the sleigh. going to add a second reindeer behind the first (cause theyre harnessed in pairs) and fix up the antlers -

L337 xmas pixel [update #5]- bg linework almost done
dark_shadow replied to dark_shadow's topic in Art and Media
update; the deer took a surprisingly long time to do! the reins do go through his hands, you'll see when i actually colour them. its how your supposed to hold reins when riding a horse; the reins go between your thumb and fore finger, and around your three middle fingers, and back out between your little finger. you end up with a little loop bit at the bottom -
well. got bored. thought 'hey, its almost christmas' and opened paint. started making the sleigh.. then when the sleigh was done realised it was at a REALLY bad angle.. but i continued anyway. this is what i have so far still gotta fix the reindeer's 'anatomy', add another reindeer on the far side of the reindeer (Cause theyll be harnessed in pairs) i originally wanted to do santa on a roof with a night time view of a small village with lights.. but cant do that now cause of the dodgy angle. ideas for a bg? CC and any comments/ideas appreciated update: the deer took a few hours to do another update: tried to make the santa look fatter, added the second deer, tried to make the sleigh more 3d. added the dark blue bg to make it easier to see the sleigh and deers medium sized update. started making linework for an approx bg. angles need to be fixed, lots of stuff looks wrong. going to add gardens, finish the houses, trees, maybe a dog, some mailboxes, rubbish bins, and a mountain scene behind, gonna have snow on the ground if i can master doing snow.. i know its a dodgy idea but its all i could come up with, considering the really dodgy angle of the sleigh and deers. as you can see, its no longer sig-size... new update: fixed up a lot of the perspective, made it all 1pt perspective instead of the random, whatever-you-call it made up perspective. looking much better IMO. gotta figure out how to merge the hills and sky with the back of the houses. suggestions?

turts such a cool turdle :P and she's all mine :D and she's a spoilt little turtle.. : -
try not to do everything straight on. look at examples of other pixels also try to work on your shading. choose 1 or 2 light sources (one is the sun) and work from that. theres some really good pixel tuts on this forum. oh, buy the way.. are you australian? cause i dunno of any other countries with K-mart and coles!

i gotz me a new sig-ana-ture! i took ma turdle out of her tank today to take some piccehs of her to record how much she's grown, and i saw a xmas shirt on my bed. grabbed the shirt, put ma turdle on the shirt, took a picceh. put the picceh on the comp, and thought 'all that needs is a simple border, and hey presto, a xmas sig!' -
woohoo! tips! thanks for the tips nadril. also, how do you create a 3D render? (oh, and i wasnt trying to use PS7 as an excuse to explain my dodgy pics. was just mentioning it lol)
-
if anyone wants one of the first two, lemme kno. the bottom two im putting into my sig. also, really need advise!
-
army sig( come look!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! or die!!!!!so look !!!!
dark_shadow replied to dietokill2's topic in Art and Media
2/10. i really dont like it; no colour, no border, bad text, the bg looks like its just been made from the same render, just duplicated -
nevermind. sorry, but i seriously hate doing rs pixels, copying a style. id rather make up my own sigs with my own ideas. the shield was the only way i could do it, theres no way you can see the front of the shield with the dragon on, unless the guy broke his arm. all in all, i couldnt be bothered finishing it. i really dont feel like changing the shield, or the arm or anything. sorry but youll have to look for a new pixeller

Don't hurt me!!! Third Time's a charm? C/C please.

cant say im really fond of the text and its colour. its kinda hard to see on the background. in the middle of the sig, on the bg, theres a straight vertical line, with the darker half of the sig on the left and the lighter on the right. why? whats the line for? personally, i dont like the render.. too grey, blurred and.. 'weird' :| IMO anyway. try using some more colour in teh bg :) i cant really give CC for abstracts cause ive pretty much only just started myself as well :anxious: -
first thing i noticed was that the bg looks like it was cloned. also, change the font and add a border.
-
are they really that bad? :( does anyone know of any extraordinarily good PS7 tuts?
-
well... i decided to try abstracts again. i only have photoshop 7, but im not even gonna bother trying to use that as an excuse for my dodgy abstracts! :anxious:  As most of you MAY know im a primarily a pixeller... but i really wanna get good at abstracts! this was the first one i tried today.. used a few layers with abstracty brushes dled from deviant art (man they have some SWEET brushes tehre!) I know the render on this one isnt very good, but my bro likes the game so thought id make it anyway. i know its a bit bland as well, but ill keep practicing! second abstract: im guessing this is an over used render, but i decided to use it to practice with anyway. pretty much teh same style as above. This next one is a kinda re modelled version of the tiger in my sig, though this has text. grungy abstract kinda bg/border 4th: chose to do a white lion because i entered a competition to name the two newborn lion cubs in australia. theyre beautiful animals.. same style as #'s 1&2. gonna try something new soon all cc and ratings appreciated.

um.. huh? i dont get what you meant by that? also, that might not necessarily be the exact location of that char. probably lower, and closer to teh center maybe. ill work it out as i progress. another thing, i wont be here for 3 days so there may be a delay with ur sig.
-
first of all... lots of ppl have made 3Dish sigs; or, at least, as 3D as you can get on a flat computer screen :| example of one of my earlier, lesser quality ones: also, quite a few of the lines in your linework so far are wrong. i did graphics, and you learn how to do things in perspective; as you look at something, the further from you it gets, the smaller it gets. of course, when i do pixels, i never get out my drawing board and set squares to make its EXACTLY the right angles and distances, but instead i just make sure it LOOKS right. the red lines kinda show what i mean. also, the top line of the fireplace wasnt even at the same angle as the bottom floor-wall line.

heres what ive got so far, dont edit anything its nowhere near done
-
oops  i didnt mean cad.. i meant... uh.. i thought cad posted this topic for some absurd reason when i made that post. i dont know why #-o #-o #-o -.- oh, by the way.. im not a 'he' as ive said before on these forums lol...

The old and the new [1xfinished sig + 1xnew WIP] *updated*
dark_shadow replied to dark_shadow's topic in Art and Media
psb, i dont remember ever saying i was going to quit completly. all i said (if i remember correctly) was that i had exams and too much at school at the time so stopped. i couldnt ever quit completly; id get too bored lol. thanks for the tips on the sig. ill change some stuff and see if its a bit better : lol. stoner pegasus :anxious: also, any ideas on what i can do with the border? i wanted to make one of those fancy.. pixel borders.. but cant think of a design for it! -
when i look at your last update i see what the bridle/headpiece is like lol. the brown straps i knew were part of it, but i thought it the blue-grey was the horses skin, and the diamond strap across the nose was the nose strap. lol. ahahaha it makes sense now :P still, very nice, again :D
-
unique bridle on the pegasus. whats the circular part that goes around the pegasus' eye? very cute; i love how the animals (not sure what they are :P) are playing with each others tails lol very nice work. if you dont mind me asking, how do you neaten ur linework like that? in what program? i draw alot of animals in RL with graphite pencils, and would like to scan them onto the comp to pixel/brush, but it seems too difficult and time consuming to neaten the linework. once again, very nice. looking forward to seeing it finished, cad!
