update. not really original, but the focus of the sig is 'spost to be the peg and the person, so the dark bg makes it stand out. -
my attempt at one. when i get bored later, i may make another! bwahahah... eh. oh, btw cadbury, the DS in the bottom right is just sposed to mean that the pixel dragon was by me.. not trying to take credit for the card idea or design

ah no offense, but i dont really like doing runescape scenes or characters anymore. its basically like copying other graphics, IMO.. id rather create something that is mine. thanks for the ideas though, your getting my brain into motion with ideas  -

feel free to post better ideas for the bg. from the angle, im stuck for ideas. also im not keen on an evil 'tree' though those were owl eyes. i knew when i was drawing the mane that it was a bit.. messed up. going to fix that when i actually add shading and hair texture. thanks for the post -
Havn't been on here much lately.. last time I was on this particular forum, I was working on a dragon WIP. well heres the 'completed' version.. not going to change anything on it, i finished it weeks ago.. it has a plain bg cause anything i tried didnt look any good. besides, the plain bg places emphasis on the dragon. also i decided to start a new sig, one that ive tried before but never managed to make it look even partially decent. think its working a bit better this time. the weird wide strip around the outside is supposed to be a 'creative border'. still trying to work out what to do with the bg scenery behind the pegasus. CC and ideas welcome update#1 not really original, but the focus of the sig is 'spost to be the peg and the person, so the dark bg makes it stand out. update #2

no offense but i honestly couldnt tell what it was, untill you said "i wanted the dragon..." i like the text and border

the tigers face is too... square. the 'water' dosnt really look like water. it took me a while to figure out what it was. the eyes, nose and mouth are all too high up and in the wrong positions. if its early morning, and everything else is dark like that, the lilly leaves are way too bright, in comparison to everything else. how many lakes do you see that disappear on the horizon, with no tree's or bank ANYWHERE in sight? i suggest you add a far off bank, it looks too unnatural. for the proportion of the tigers head, position of the eyes etc, heres an example of a tiger i did sometime earlier this year. its not perfect obviously, but its a reasonable example IMO. also, i prefer version 3 to 4. i know tigers pretty well as i draw them in rl frequently, and version 4's neck and body just looks.. wrong. sorry if i sounded too harsh through this post, im just tired :)

personally i love this sig, exactly the way it is. the linework seems to match the style IMO. if it was all neatly lined, i really dont think it would look as good; takes away from the cosyness and warmth IMO. its the style.. 9/10, nice job

find a suitable picture you like with less than 30kb, with a size of 400 pixels x 175 pixels or smaller. upload it to the internet. go to http://www.imageshack.us to upload it. get the bottom url of the picture. add [*img][*/img] tags around the url, WITHOUT the stars in the tags. add the tagged url to your profile

use whichever one you want. if u use one, leave the 'DS' on the avvy, its the only catch with the avvies. the DS is my 'trademark'

if its ur first pixel, its better than most peoples firsts, including mine! as with every pixel, made by any artist of any capability, there are some things that could be better. -the wall behind the palm is 2D. it seems flat, and dosnt really have much proper shading, showing shadows. there dosnt seem to be a real light source in the picture. -the serrated edges to the palm tree leaves look weird IMO, id leave them as smooth edged leaves -the top of the wall seems a bit... 'weird' shaped. -the sky is empty. also, its the wrong colour. the sky is less aqua coloured, and more of a blueish grey. try adding some clouds, and maybe a bird or something to fill the space, instead of just using the fill tool. but as i said, if its ur first, its still very good. this is an example of what i came up with, putting the same things into it as you did. maybe you can get some ideas off it? edit: it appears as though my picture uploaded too dark. its not sposed to be that dark

My First Ever Pixel W.I.P is Done!! come look!!
dark_shadow replied to dkjestrup's topic in Art and Media
some examples of pixel ahrims people i did long ago. i think my style and quality of pixel has improved a lot. but may these may still help for the basic colour and shape. -
pretty good :) cant give any cc, im not very good with PS.. keep meaning to practice. anyway, how do you save your abstracts? file->save for web? if you go that way (sorry if im repeating what you already know) then you can play around with dif save options, like jpg high/low/medium and differnt png and gif options..
-
not really much to cc atm. though, to me, the table looks a little odd. cant say why, it just does to me. maybe im hallucinating  please post more when you do it, you should get more cc \ and dont worry.. i never used to get many views/much cc.. still dont, really.. lol :) gl with the rest of the sig, if/when you post updates, if i can ill see if i can find some decent cc for you
-
hmm.. chocolate sundae in the background.. :) and quer skulll, what did you say sorry for? its true, and thanks for pointing it out so i can try to improve it! yes i use ms paint... never touched anything else for pixels.. still havnt gotten around to playing with the neck :| im getting too slack.. lol. thanks for all the opinions/ideas/CC
-
i havnt added a scaly/leathery 'texture' to the dragon yet.. just shading atm. will go back as soon as ive finished this part, then add scales or whatever. still have to try to fix the neck, though i dont know whats wrong with it/how i can fix it... ive played with it, but cant make it look any better, though i know it looks wrong at the moment... will keep trying with it. and so, update still have to finish the rest of the body, then ill do the scales. ALSO; need ideas for a BG!
-
new update still shading the dragon, then ill go back and add a scale texture to the dragon to make it look more realistic. havn't done all that much more, been organising things IRL.

When you're working, do you like being watched by others?
dark_shadow replied to jak722's topic in Art and Media
i personally hate it when anyone watches me do anything. especially when i draw animals in rl (tigers and horses usually) people usually stop, look, ask what it is and what im doing (if ive only just started and the pic has no shape) or complement me. gets very distracting and makes me nervous for some reason.. -
hmm. i think ill try both.. tomorrow ill do a different rough linework pic, with the wings folded. see what that looks like then..
-
i hope you mean"leave her be" lol. not "leave him be" :P im still not sure whether i should make the wings so theyre folded, instead of spread like they are. that way i could actually add a bg like i originally planned, instead of the dragon taking up the ENTIRE signature..
-
im getting kinda confused lol... some say it doesnt look realistic, others say it does... :-s ill probably leave teh main part as it is, even if it does look un-realistic. one thought ive had is to make the wings so they arnt in the air; instead, to make them held up against the dragons sides.. cause the right wing, where it joins the body, looks completly wrong to me but i cant seem to get it right.. ill try to fix that area near the neck in a second, nadril, thanks for pointing that out :D this is a tiny update... done [bleep]es on the back, horns and the cheek horn thingy.. still have to make them look rough and worn, and add texture to the larger horns. havnt touched anything else yet :anxious: also, do you think i should get rid of the little [bleep]es around the dragons cheek? the edge ones?
