yeah, i was lucky with that dingo! id seen a couple before this fella, but was unable to get decent photos. this guy was only fairly young, and wanted to play. luckily we were in the car at the time. the sea turtle was an unfortunate one. it was stranded on the beach cause it was exausted from trying to get back out to see through the large swell that day. we found it on its back, and we thought it was dead, until i saw it move. then i sat in the back of the car with a 70cm turtle in my arms, dripping wet, for 18km across soft sand lol. i was holding it in the air so it wouldnt get jolted.. trust me, these guys are heavy! we released it in calm water in a bay so it could recover and get back out to sea

lol sorry bout that :oops: . fixed now :) thanks woopidoo2

Here are some photos that i took at my latest holiday, a week long trip to fraser island. theres lots of stories to tell, but i wont tell them here :) comments on the photos are welcome. (none of these pics are photoshopped yet, however i have made the pictures smaller :) An odd photo, but i thought "theres a good photo opportunity!" so i took a photo.. simple as it is, i actually like it! As you will probably notice, most of the photos have heavy rain clouds :x lol no matter where we go for a holiday, it is 99% likely that it will rain. we should hire ourselves out to drought stricken areas! :lol: I personally adore this photo. took it while i was fishing with my father (and i shall mention that i caught 7 edible fish, and he caught 1. ha!) another sunset photo, taken after the previous photo just another scenery shot scenery shot from atop a 30m high sand dune! lighthouse green sea turtle which i rescued on the last day... had to carry it for 18km on sand!! argh! rainforest on teh island Dingo; this fella happened to sit next to the car!

GreatSilverWyrm's Signature Gallery :: 56k warning

awesome work GSW!i love your style; you make fantastic looking sigs, but theyre not jammed full of things; they appear simplistic and dont hurt the eyes! my fave would probably have to be the chaos bringer sig. nice work with the sphere =D> overall, 20/10, or simplified, awesome! :mrgreen: -
personally, i like it! to me, the background is perfectly suited to the render, and the render is blended in well. the only part that i dont really like is the text... kinda plain and boring :) if your going for ratings, id give a 9/10 nice work =D>
-
Gold :wink: nice entries everyone
-
update #2. still nowhere near done. grey parts are just for my working out, still have to blend the shading in more, still only done shading around the nose. I will also be changing the black outlines to grey, so they dont stand out

once again, 'I'd' add flames at the bottom, at the feet, and as though he's got flames on the rest of his body. maybe with the same idea with teh purple; do like a wreathe of flames going up the body, in the same was as that purple. but thats my opinion, and we all know how dodgy that is :D i would draw it in, but im doing my tiger at the moment :wink:
-
this is kinda like what i woulda done. basic shape (did it in black, hope you dont mind me playing with it. thought it would be easier than explaining) for the wings, id make them flaming

Just a couple of tips, for next time you make pixels; 1) try to use the "line" tools as much as possible, and clean your lines up before shading. For example, most of your lines are at least double thickeness throughout the whole sig, whilst if you look at other pixels, lines are only 1pixel thick. it gives the sig a much neater and cleaner look 2) Choose where your light is comming from, and stick to that source(s) only do shadows in appropriate areas, and actually use shadows. in this signature, theyre arnt any shadows around the cabbages, a shadow where the scyth is, a shadow for the fence etc 3) Work on your perspective; everything looks like it is on the same plane 4) try not to shade around objects (in this case, cabbages) if you look how you've detailed the cabbages, for example, the dark brown markings on teh ground dont ever touch the cabbages; they look like they go around the cabbages, instead of under them? thats all i can think of at the moment. nice idea, and its good to see you helping a friend out! :) goodluck with future sigs!

Photography Thread - More photos added! Post Thoughts Please

Digital for me. Personally, I prefer Digital Olympus cameras. for me theyre convenient; so long as my cam takes AA batteries, i have tonnes of good quality rechargeables, so i can go on long holidays and just take all the batteries and space cards for the camera. last trip i went on, it was a week long; i got hundreds of photos. at least with digital, you can take as many photos as you like, go back and delete ones you dont like, and take more! your not restricted to rolls of 24 film. but thats my opinion! may post a thread soon of the photos i took from my latest holiday -
lol thanks remoteman. I knew it had way too many stripes. I draw lots of tigers in rl. might post a piccy later, if i can get the scanner to work. So i know what the stripes SHOULD be like :wink: i just didnt feel like fixing the stripes :( but now i got around to doing it, so i dont have to make a major edit later also, a friend suggested doing a white tiger, so ive decided to do the normal coloured tiger and a white tiger. so heres both updated. all thats been done is part of the left ear, and the chin;
-
I know about the colours. I use a number of methods to reduce the number of colours I use. as I said, i dont use the majority of them. I only put them there INCASE i need to use them, which i rarely do
-
i dont actually use most of those shades. I just put the whole scale down, INCASE i happen to need them, which i usually dont. it saves me having to find the same colour shades later.

How come this file/pic, can't be used for my Sig?
dark_shadow replied to hellbellz's topic in Art and Media
(thats what i did above. all you have to do is take it into paint and save it as a PNG file. reduces size (took ur sig down to 4kb) but keeps quality) -

=; Just before you read anything else; THIs is obviously a WIP, and it is no-where near completion. all i have actually pretty much finished so far is the nose, and eyes. rest is basic colouring well, just thought id post this. later, when i finish it, ill let others practice colouring with the linework if they want it. ill keep posting updates this is going to take me a while to do :-w . ive started making tiger outlines previously, but i always used to lose them. now ive started again. no reference was used, hence the odd stripe patterning on the face. comments appreciated :) edit: i feel like a fool.. forgot to attatch the pic! :oops: Update#1: decided to do a white tiger as well! going to do the white one first now. still not much shaded Update #2: Shaded around the nose area. not much done, only working on the white tiger at the mo. will do the other after. the out-of-place darkish grey bits are ideas for where shadows will go. theyre not gonna stay there... that and ive got to blend in the other shading more Update #3: still have to do the right ear, add more fur texture, do the stripes and fix some other things up update #4- final version well, i know its not great. its nothing like i originally visualised, but nevermind. The right ear (its left) was the hardest bit to do, and it still dosnt look great i know. and im aware it dosnt have whiskers; they didnt look good, no matter how i did them, so i left them out overall, quite a few friends have said it looks really good. personally, i love it, cause its the first pixel tiger ive ever done :3>
-
it wasnt intended to be used as an avvy, it was used for a site im often in for reptiles.. snakes to be specific; im getting a murray darling carpet python hatchling, for those who know theyre snakes so i decided to do a little pixel, to see if i could do snakes. so here it is i like the head, and the front part of the snake. not fond of the rest of the body though #-o . if i get time, ill play around and fix it up later. i did it by doing the basic colouring underneath, then the dark markings (theyre not black, theyre actually dark blue)
