no, i dont find it rude, i consider that as CC. but just a couple of things.. since when could a dragon look realistic? they dont exist  i know what you mean though... that it may not look like most dragons are done.. now, i wont try to contradict what you said, but ill just explain the reasons why i did things to be how they are at the moment  -The eyes are only temporary to show me roughly where they will be going. that isnt the exact shape that theyll be, so theyll be changed. this is only rough linework -there is a body, but you just cant see it much while theres only linework. the body goes to teh right side of the signature. its not defined well yet, as its still only linework, but it will be obvious where teh body is when i shade it, add texture etc -The way i did the head was to make it as if teh dragon was turning its head around, to look behind it. originally, i was going to do a smaller dragon in the foreground, looking back on a ruined city or whatever as if the dragon had just destroyed it. weird, bad idea, but i couldnt do it anyway because the dragon ended up being to large #-o -if there was a single bone in the wing, it would not be able to bend, and thus the creature wouldnt be able to fly. look at a birds wing; it has many different bones. the "bones" in the wing wont look like that when theyre done, ive got to get rid of some lines, and that area will just end up being shown by texture and shading/darkness alone, not with outlines -as i said above, the head is facind one waybecause the head is turned around, as if the dragon is looking behind it. thats what it was supposed to be like, anyway :uhh: -once again, its still linework : i'll be adding nicks etc from teh dragons wings as well as the horns, and will probably end up doing one as if its snapped off during a fight or something.. -that wasnt suposed to be a beard  i was trying to make it look like [bleep]es around the jaw. i used some other reference pictures from google, and took ideas from different pictures and modified the ideas. one was to put [bleep]es around the bottom of the jaw line, and the cheek area. ill change that area so it looks more like '[bleep]es' and maybe some dragons 'do' have fur? they may not necissarily have scales. i mean, they dont exist, so its up to the artists impression i spose :o but yeah.. i wasnt going for a 'fur-effect' as i said, im not trying to throw all that cc back in your face, just justifying what i did :P but ill go through and make a couple of changes based on what you said. most of it i was already planning on changing (such as perfect teeth, horns etc) when i start texturing. this is just the first linework :P so thanks for the cc! -shadow this is just a quick pic to show what parts are what on teh drag. any blue is the bg. **NOTE** this is still rough linework; still being changed, and colours arnt going to stay that.. 'bad' and just for GS... i know its easy for potential rippers to edit the linework to get rid of the grey and red.. but.. lol. cant think of a reason why i still do it, to be honest #-o

I'm hoping that i can fix that 2Dness with the shading. I didnt notice that it wasnt 3D looking :P thanks for the cc, ill try to change the lines a bit to make it more 3D thanks! -shadow

Havn't been doing pixels for ages... usual reasons; school, exams, assignments etc etc.. but now, exams are over! so, i decided to make a new siggeh! this is the wip; not sure if any of you have noticed, but i enjoy doing pixel animals and dragons.. so yeah :P the purpose of this thread? to ask for CC and ratings! \ it took me ages to get at least semi-happy with this dragons head... im trying for that "mean" look. have i succeeded? :anxious: (btw, sorry about the grey line and red text; anti-ripping... im paranoid lol) so, CC and ratings welcome! also.. ideas for what colour i can do the dragon? red, green, black, blue? purple, pink? lol.. update ok, new update. continued shading a bit.. im going to shade all of the dragon and then go back and add a more 'dragon like' skin texture (scales) still nowhere near done, still changing some things. New update: refer to page 2..
-
10x zoom  wish i'd known that was there when i pixelled... might start a new siggeh soon eh..

try dithering, and possibly using more colour shades to even out the shading, to eliminate those lines where the shades change. in the first picture, the light source is comming from the sun (obviously..) so shade AROUND the sun; the lightest sky-colour should be encircling the sun, with darker colours radiating outwards. also, try to use a green which isnt as... 'neon' . when selecting colours, move the colour picker down, to get a more natural, tranquil green. for the second picture, i disagree with what woopidoo2 said about the sky. you should NEVER use pute black for a pixel; look at nature, there is almost NEVER **PURE** black, so dont use it in your pixels. if you look carefully at the night sky, its actually a very very dark blue. (keep refreshing the page to see the sig that i pixelled with the sillouheted (sp?) horse, in front of the moon and night sky for reference) try to make the moon round; ive never seen it that shape before :P also, try to improve the perspective of the waterfall, the top looks... wrong. also once again, try to tone down the green.. :P personally, i prefer the first picture... good try on both, and keep practicing! good luck with your future pixels!~

good try. the texture for the grass is really well. i agree with most of the things nazgul said... with the one-colour-sky thing... you only notice it isnt one colour when you look closely. try to use shades that arnt as close to each other... so you can easily notice the colour change, yet not see straight bands where it changes.. if that makes sense. in other words, your shading is to 'subtle' also, with the tree trunk, maybe try adding texture to it? like woody-bark lie texture, maybe with a hole in the tree...

A picture...and the new sig I created from it...

turtles ROCK! i have a turtle... she's a kreffts river, 8 months older (hatched 2nd january 2006) :D my bad lol... on-topic; awesome job! no way on earth i could ever do something that great  (then again, ive never heard of Bryce 5.5 and Daz Studio  ) to me, the colours work well and it isnt too in-your-face nice job! -
i c, i rate, i dont hate :) only thing i dont like.. is how the bg starts comming out thru the girls hair, right cheek and just below her nose. maybe reduce the transparency in that area.. where the bg shows thru near her right eye looks cool tho.. if that made sense  nice work, new style

im now going to try to do megadedheads idea, cause its original. (no guarantee's that ill be able to do it.. never done a frog before :P) ill still take a couple of avvy ideas though.
-
hehehe... may try the unicorn. galloping horses are hard to do though, because of muscle movement, head movement, mane etc... ill give it a go :P ok, so change of plan; unless i like peoples sig ideas A LOT then i wont be doing a sig; but ill still do a couple of avvy's if people want them :anxious:
-
hmm im currently thinking of a new sig idea that i can make for myself. thinking of doing an animated galloping horse... maybe a pegasus.. though that would be hard :| any ideas anyone? id like it to incorporate an animal somehow
-
i confess, twas me :) not sure, but i think im a tad better now. at least i am with people, and i do meaner looking dragons.. lol. gotta flex my pixelling muscles lol
-
Alright, heres the deal.. well.. no deal.. but.. ill shuddup lol ok. lets try again. recently ive had a LITTLE bit of spare time; if someone posts a GOOD (IMO) idea, i may make a sig and/or avvy. obviously im more likely to choose an avvy cause its smaller and quicker.. if i make avvy's i may make a couple. try to make original ideas guys; and remember, there is NO GUARANTEE that i will make any at all; but as i said above, if there is an idea i like, ill probably make it (im also unlikely to make a heavy rs related sig, cause they're boring.. but feel free to try rs anyway...) if your fast with a good idea i may get it done tonight for you.
-
thats nice to know. "all" the skill has left tip.it. very reassuring. i knew i sucked, but i didnt know i was that bad. theres a few pixellers on this forum that arnt too bad/getting good.
-
try to add sometexture to the cliff face. in cliff faces, you see rocks, and things sticking out. also, i preffered the leaves of the first tree; more realistic... the second has absolutly no shape nice work for a first
-
wewt cliff FTW! lol  by the way, very nice use of colours, and i like the texture to the clothes! :D
-
nice :) but wheres clifford? :(

What do u mean? He has to hold on to the mane is he is barebacking... ..any horse that lets you pull on its mane is tame enough that you dont need to...most barebackers still use a bridle...just no harness sorry, but im a horsey person.. 'tame' isnt the appropriate word.. more like well trained and handled, and a good temperment. a lot of bareback riders just use a very simple rope halter, and they use their legs, body language and posture to ask the horse to do what they want. oh, and a horse can hardly feel when the mane is pulled; its just better if you DONT pull it cause it means your a bad rider.. mhmm.. and its a saddle, not a harness... only problem i see is that the horse is at a weird angle.. is it sposed to be rearing? if not, you majorly need to fix the angle.. the horse is also way too small.. unless thats a giant riding the poor horse. the tails too short.. the legs of the horse look broken and dislocated, and the hooves are.. not hooves.. more like the horse is wearing boots  but very nice idea, id love it if rs had horses :D

yeah, HIM is an awesome band :D nice to see your back! might come up with a good idea for a siggeh later :) gotta work now.. school. *sigh* -
anyone else? :( cc? any ideas what else i can do, when i make a better photomanip out of other animals?
-
only two faults that i see. The nose; IMO you should make it not so wide... its not very 'petite' at the moment... really big nostrils. the fingers (or at least the thumb) are too short but very nice work so far  congratulations on getting this far, and doing such a great job!
-
instead of wasting everyones time spamming the topic, dont flame, give cc of how he can do a better job! Jag: next time, try to spend more time on it; the longer you spend, generally teh better it looks... try to line everything up so it dosnt have a white bg.. save it as a better format so the quality is kept edit: i wasnt referring to you necromancer, i was referring to the other people that flamed and gave no advice. i did read before i posted.
-
well, today i was taking photos of my beloved turdle.. she seems to like to "pose" when she's outa the water.. so yea. this is what i did to a piccy i took of her. i know the colour dosnt match the yellowy greeny grey colour of turt, but oh well... im not too sure if i like it, but opinions? if someone rekons they can do a better job, can you post here saying so and ill send you the original? i prefer manipulating cat pictures lol. turtles are.. different. theyre not usually seen as cute and cudly, just cute :D the original i made this smaller piccy for my msn display picture lol CC? edit: just occured to me that its not really a photomanip. all i actually maniped on the actual original turtle picture was teh eye colour, colour of the turtle, contrast and saturation. hmm.. then i added the weird fractalish border thingy lol
-
its head looks like a cats head  also, walrus's are very big, very bulky, extremly heavy animals.. ive never seen one sit like that before  specially not one of the massive males..
-
lol its amazing how fast your threads get comments MXM  extremly nice work; i agree with pretty much all of GS's points, excluding 1: i expected that you had plenty of talent, and definately enough to make something this great!! As GS said, the black lines on the rune (g) plate look.. out of place the mage on the right is really well done, and he kinda looks like he's flying  only thing i dont really like is that the brick wall thing in the bg.. its too light IMO. it seems to glow, and ive never seen a glowing wall before :) nice work once again MXM!
