DuskEclipse, having seen your stats, you need to do a massive amount of non-combat training before resuming combat. Very literally, you're so far behind in non-combat skills that it is destroying your combat trips. Get all of the following before resuming combat: 30 Woodcutting and 30 Firemaking (Possibly 40 on both!) (Needed in order to chop most F2P Trees and use them towards cooking. Always a must for near-all F2P'ers, and I'm no exception myself. If you're going to Dungeoneer, you'll need 10 extra levels on each or you may end up with resources that you can't chop-and-burn.) 48 Smithing (Possibly 68 Smithing) (I don't know how high you are intending to raise your Defense Level, but you need to be able to make even the basic armor to support it. You'll only need 48 Smithing if you're going for Level 5 Defense at most, which will fully unlock Steel Armor. If you're going for 20 Defense, though, you'll need 68 Smithing to fully unlock Mithril Armor. Even if you're not aiming to have more than a full set of Iron Armor, you'll still need 33 Smithing for that. But, having the levels up to either 48 or 68 will provide you with the ability to gain a large stack of gp, enabling you to fuel further gains all across the board. (For reference, I personally gained a 2m stack of gp by leveling this up between 55 and 65, in part thanks to 55 Mage and High-Alchemy.) Oh, I almost forgot that increasing your Smithing level after Level 15, all the way to Level 45 will result in a heavily decreased loss of Iron Ores, so there's still considerable reason to level this up anyway even if you're not interested in Steel/Mithril. Not to push, but since you'll unlock most of the Steel items while decreasing your chances of losing Iron Ores, you might want to go for Level 48 anyway just to finish up the unlocks for the bonus of it... It's only 3 levels!) 50 Fishing (Even with your low levels, this is an absolute need. Being able to fish (and with 45 Cooking, eat for 140 LP recovery) Swordfish and Cook (and/or Sell) them will help you out of many bad situations, both combat-related and non-combat-related. Plus, when you're not Smithing, you can gain a nice mint of gp to help yourself along.) 55 Cooking (Having this should provide access to all of the items that you can cook in F2P. I don't know of anything at a higher level than this. While 45 is critical for cooking Swordfish, 50 gives you Chocolate Cake (3x 50 LP, 150 LP total recovery), and 55 gives you Anchovy Pizza (2x 90 LP, 180 LP total recovery, like having double Salmon)... Having all of the above will enable you to easily stay alive in combat, vary what you do, and/or meet odd market demands and pick up gp for your troubles.) 44 Crafting (Possibly 70!) (There's way beyond more than I can explain here, but the primary target of 44 Crafting will unlock the skill-exp-assisting urns that can boost along some of your skills. 70 Crafting will unlock Diamond Amulets, which can then be enchanted with 57 Magic into Power Amulets, a rather good assist to your stats while in combat. If you want an easy build-up path, or wish to vary what you're doing to level this up, new item options become available at many different levels, so keep an eye on your skill guide as you receive level-up messages.) 20 RuneCrafting (Possibly 50, 54, 65, or even 78!) (This one really depends on a few things. If you don't plan on Dungeoneering ever, playing Great Orb Project for the RC'er Robes, or doing a certain Varrock Achievement Task, then you'll only ever want Level 20. (And that's providing you're not worried about Rune Multipliers.) If you wish to have the RC'er Robes, then you'll need a minimum of Level 50. If you wish to Dungeoneer but aren't worried about using Magic to fight with, Level 54 is a must in order to make your own Law Runes for the Group GateStone Teleport. If you wish to use Magic Combat while Dungeoneering, then Level 65 is a requirement in order to make your own Death Runes for the Blast Spells. I admit, I'm not counting for the required Magic Levels here, but I'm only talking about the non-combat aspects of things. I'll leave it up to you to learn the Magic Combat part as you go, because I really could only learn it by feel myself.) 28 Prayer (Obviously, you've got an insanely higher target than that, Level 95. But, just to get you started, you can bank everything you have, go up to the Chaos Prayer Altar @ Level 12 Wildy, and bury bones while feeling free of worry that you'll lose anything. Reaching 28 Prayer will be somewhat easy there; It's the levels after that take an insane amount of dedication to gain. (Have a laugh, seeing as I'm stalled at Level 62 while aiming for Level 70, and I got at least 35 of my levels solidly from there!)) Having all of the above will enable you to stay constantly stable on all your supplies for combat, as well as enjoy both having a large stack of gp and many non-combat activities. BTW, most of this approach is "Do-It-Yourself"(DIY)-styled in how I wrote it, due to the fact that I had to DIY all this on my own as well. Feel free to refit it as you need, but still make sure that you get all of the above levels or you'll hit a drag in trying to get far. :geek: As for me, I've just spent the last 3.5 hours building this post, thanks to many IRL issues. My apologies that this is such a wall of text as well, due to the fact that I'm providing reasoning with each of the target level numbers. Please pardon me now while I go give my mind a break, because it feels very dead-walled. Uuuuuugggggghhhhhh... <*falls over sideways*> [THUD!] :wall: ~Mr. D. V. "You've got a long road ahead... You sound like you're in need of a Social Clan. Thankfully, since you're a Tip.It'er (someone who uses these forums, simply put), you happen to be very much in luck. Keep your eyes open in the Clan "HYT" (which you can access from the "Visited Clan Chat" section of your in-game controls), as well as the Friend Chat "Shyla", and one of us will get around to coming by and helping you get in. We happen to have no level requirements, mixed F2P/P2P, more about fun/skilling, etc. ... and we're a good place to hang out at. BTW, if it isn't me that helps you finish joining up, don't forget to holler an "HYT!" to whoever is picking up for me. It will make it easier for you to get in quickly, because they'll be able to pick you out of a crowd of players/bots/etc.! And yeah, don't forget to tell them I sent you! :D ~Mr. D. V. SOLVED- [Windows 7] Screensaver wait time registry key
D. V. Devnull replied to Stormfolk's topic in Tech and Computers
Stormfolk, I believe the registry key you're looking for is the one at the Login Screen? If so, then it's located in the following spot... ...and control of the needed items is then as you thought, marked with... [Change the "(dot)" into an actual dot in your visualization of it... I'm having to work around a rude filter here.] ...which allows you to adjust both time and which screen saver is used. BTW, Windows 7 may try to push UAC at you and deep-six what you're doing if you don't go in with full admin priveleges. (Simply just mentioning that part for the uninformed third party who might read this thread.) :geek: Have fun, but remember the original values (or just make a proper reset registry script) in case you want them back some time in the future, okay? :shades: ~Mr. D. V. "I think that's what you're looking for?!?!?" Devnull -
Alright, I'll make sure to set an exception on my browser. Glad to know I'm not being diverted elsewhere, and that we're securing the login step a bit better now. Thank you for confirming this for me. ~D. V. "Phew... that's a relief!" Devnull (p.s.: I've put a marker on the front of this thread to show the question's been answered.) (p.p.s.: Could someone give this thread sticky status? I think this is important to keep in view for at least a month.)

Hello, all... So, this morning as I was going to log into Tip.It Forums, I ran headlong into a jump into "https" mode, as well as a warning from my browser that it couldn't authenticate the SSL Certificate that was being shown to it. I looked around, and couldn't find an announcement about this change to the forum's login and/or security systems. Unluckily, to get this far and post here, I had to accept the certificate temporarily for the current browser session before I could post here to ask if it was valid. Is there anyone here that could please confirm Tip.It Forums has had a valid SSL Certificate added to its' login system? Or am I now going to be forced to find a workaround to get to the forums, let alone changing my login password? Also, if it is valid, might I suggest an announcement is put up immediately?!?!? ~Mr. D. V. "Really [bleep] confused here..." Devnull

First off, dude, I ain't trolling. In fact, I think you missed a boat-load of logic that should be considered. :ugeek: Why, you're dense enough to ask, instead of already being enlightened? Self-Sufficiency can be a very good thing. Look at it this way... Would you rather to have the ability to gain gp easily and save some too, or would you rather have to pay through the nose? For me at least, that's a no-brainer, as the self-sufficient, gp-gaining, and therefore gp-saving path would be the one that I would choose any day. Sure, that doesn't mean I can speak for Bows on this, but I would rather towards showing that keeping one's options open and unlocking stuff that can be done is a very good thing to do. And BTW, Power Ammys are still used in F2P because we don't have all that fancy P2P junk. Bows could easily make a ton of Diamond Power Amulets in some super-efficient P2P spot, come to F2P, and then sell them. Result? Bows walks off with a [bleep]-load of gp, and F2P PK'ers squabble over who is going to have the most of them. A bit mercenary, but hey, it pays the costs! As for Glory Ammys, Bows can just as easily make some after attaining the levels to make, sell them to sub-100-cb P2P'ers, and also walk off with a nice mint there. Put simply, even if high-level combatants don't use them, there's still the option of taking advantage of the lower-leveled ones and gaining gp for moving along with further goals, if not save a ton as well. ;) Hedgehog, I bet right about now, you wish you had thought of all of this. Unluckily, you tried to call me something I'm not, and acted very short-sighted. So, pardon me while I walk off with this extra, logic-loaded victory under my belt. Especially since if Bows couldn't sell what they made for any reason, they could still High-Alchemy it. Which reminds me, Bows would also enjoy all those extra levels and extra exp they would be racking up during all of this, for various reasons stated in earlier posts on this thread by myself and others. :D ~Mr. D. V. "Did you REALLY have to make me resort to a logic-filled text wall, and go 'RS Nerd' on you?!?" Devnull

Our Trainees Have Graduated!
D. V. Devnull replied to tripsis's topic in Announcements, Rules and Security Warnings!
(names changed to links by quoting author) Well done, all five of you! I guess I'll be seeing you around the forum a bit more now? :shades: ~D. V. "Nice! Be seeing you?" Devnull (p.s.: @ Tripsis -- Hey, why didn't you make links of the names?) -
Looks like these two need the following said to them: For those of you dissing the Level 70 Crafting, and Power Amulets, those are just a mere small step on the way to someone making their own Glory Amulets. But unless you head past there, you won't get on your way, regardless of whether they're useless or not! Plus, what you earn from selling off unwanted Power Amulets lends to heading for making your own Glory Amulets. Which, might I remind you that being able to make your own Glory Amulets enables self-sufficiency, instead of having to go to the G.E. for your combat equipment! :ugeek: ~Mr. D. V. "You still have to go that way on Crafting, duh!!!" Devnull
-
Yeow, Bows! No wonder you lost interest! You're in need of the following... 70 Prayer (Trust me, you want Grave Blessings!) 70+ Crafting (It is worth unlocking Diamond Amulets. You can then craft and enchant to make Power Amulets, a worthwhile combat tool.) 78 RuneCrafting (Earth Runes here...There's a Varrock Task to go with it.) 55+ Dungeoneering (I may dislike Dungeoneering, but I'm also aiming for a few handy Reward Items that I'm finding I may not be able to do without.) ...which will take care of a lot of your current issues with jumping back in. |^_^| ~Mr. D. V. "Get those done and you'll feel a lot better..." Devnull

When did we get a wanted Bot around here???
D. V. Devnull replied to D. V. Devnull's topic in Forum Updates and Suggestions
Alright, that makes things a lot clearer. BTW, who do we have to thank for this new addition? It had to be a near-mind-blower to add on! :o <*checks*> Hmm... It caught the tagline, which wasn't posted to the other post. But at the same time, it missed the date line. I think we need the bot to be modified to catch all of it in the following order... Title Date (Probably put those first two together on the same line, eh?) Tag line Main Article Details Patch Notes (This last one's an "If Applicable"!!!) ...and then add a link back to the RuneScape website's version(s). Also, if it happens to be possible, maybe it should monitor for the first occurrence of a discussion thread on this forum and make a link over to it, or perhaps create one itself? These would sure make good ideas to implement, even if we had to wait a while for them!  :geek: ~Mr. D. V. "Who to thank? Hey, now you've got me getting technical!!!" Devnull -
Hello there... as I logged onto Tip.It Forums this morning, I noticed this name that made absolutely no sense to me... @NewsBot ... and so I am wondering Who, What, and Why are they? I just don't understand this, and would like some clarification, please? ~D. V. "I think this is my worst chunk of confusion ever..." Devnull (p.s.: And maybe we might need a sticky about this? Wouldn't mind if my thread was used as the sticky...)

5+ "broads"??? You frequent that many women??? You cad!!! We shall hang you for this!!! (Nah, just kidding! I understand you made a massive typo! :P ) Back on-topic... Since there are concerns about things like the flood limiter, group changes after a certain post count, and all that stuff, might I suggest upping the requirement to go from "Members" into "Members+" to 250 posts or more? It would still blockade spambots, but would alleviate concerns about some spambot slipping far enough through to take advantage of the decreased flood limit timer. ~D. V. "A joke, and an idea... can't tl;dr this one!" Devnull

Ermin, Octarine, Wait... cake... what? They look more to me like they were done with clay or something else that's non-edible. :geek: Nice crafting work, though, teezkut! ~D. V. "I'm thinking non-edible... Well done, though!" Devnull
-
Good thing that I checked here as well before thinking of making a thread. :XD: Anyone with >100 posts, has been active, and posted recently? Heck, this helps weed out spambots, let alone any other nice things the new grouping might get. At this point, getting decreased flood limit time (would help when I'm trying to add someone's quote to my post because of an afterthought, that's for sure) would be a nice icing on the cake. |^_^| Consider me in approval of this change! ~D. V. "LIKE! LIKE! LIKE! ... To hell with those spambots!" Devnull

Forum Restructuring - Completed
D. V. Devnull replied to tripsis's topic in Announcements, Rules and Security Warnings!
If you check my post history, you'll find that's false. I have been there before, albeit I'm not sure exactly how many times in the past that I have. The only reason why I hadn't used it recently was due to a lack of a question or item that I thought might be discussable without getting flamed/trolled by someone. That, and I hadn't found something to reply to without causing severe hyper-thread-necrosis, which would have gotten me shot by a Mod/Admin anyway! As for the reason I'm torn up over the total removal? Primarily because this likely means I can no longer get back to my old posts from there. But this also means anything that FunOrb/SD/WoL users now start is likely to get washed away in a sea of other stuff in VG&C... :wall: ~D. V. "Etiquette vs. Memories vs. Beginnings vs. Ends... what a massive pain..." Devnull (p.s.: Pardon the off-topic, but I'm surprised you're like the only active Admin posting on this thread. Have they turned you into the "P.R. Lady" or something?!?!?) -

<*walks off, raging the whole way, and causes a door to fall off its' hinges as they slam it closed behind them*> These two changes are going to cause issues. I can just see it coming. <_< BTW, I see they missed listening to at least 4 of us on this thread. There should have at least kept a condensed board for that second item, "Other Jagex Games". Sadly, I can now sense this thread getting buried by time. ~D. V. "DO NOT WANT" Devnull -

My view as well. :) May be a bit biased though. :P Meh... I as well could put up with all the threads for Other Jagex Games being put into a single forum area. :shades: But, remove the area entirely and dump it in with VG&C? I would still rage if that happened. ~D. V. "Compression, instead of removal? To me, that's a fair compromise." Devnull ================================================== Something I forgot... [bUZZ] Sorry, but that would cause too much havoc/chaos! And now, here's your consequence! <*sees a boxing glove pop out of a hole in the wall and punch who_am_i so hard that they fly away, totally unconscious*> ~D. V. "Couldn't help myself... D. V. Devnull replied to tripsis's topic in Announcements, Rules and Security Warnings!
Okay, here I go with an item-by-item (which I normally don't resort to) breakdown... If you're going to do this, make the subforum name "Data and Research (Metagame Discussion)". Otherwise, it will lose most of what causes it to make sense, which may cause some people to lose track of where that forum went. :-| As long as it remains with a RuneScape-related requirement, I don't see any problem with this one. :) Again, no problems here, I think. I might however re-categorize this forum in order to allow for more than just RuneScape events. We could potentially allow for FunOrb/WoL/etc. (e.g.: Any Jagex-made game) events here, depending on the retaining of the current FunOrb/WoL/SD forums. ;) Personally, I'm surprised I haven't already seen a bunch of FunOrb-linked event threads down in its' board already. But, that may have been caused by the original lack of early adoption of a board for FunOrb-related stuff. Seriously? Yuck. This would be like dumping iced tea in someone's hot coffee. Seeing as I'm not a PK'ing-oriented person, I would very much prefer not having PK'ing-related content in my face while I'm trying to look at the non-PK'ing-content of the H&A Forum! Of course, did you Mods/Admins think of Skiller/PvM players (of which I happen to be one of) when you thought of this? While I don't visit Off-Topic, and don't have much of a personal tilt on this at all, I would beware the current Sports & Fitness crowd. I don't like the idea of hearing the serving of a bunch of knuckle sandwiches because they got mad at having their stuff merged with the usual Off-Topic traffic. :ohnoes: Eh, good luck with this one. You might get an uproar from those who prefer their literary discussions separate from the usual Off-Topic traffic. :-s Uhh... NO... Just flat [bleep] NO! Dropping discussion of these in with PC/Console games is asking for nothing short of serious trouble. (That, and I don't need to land up with a good discussion about something like FunOrb's Arcanists and/or Steel Sentinels shoved down 3 pages by useless stuff... i.e.: Spongebob Squarepants, Crash Bandicoot, and/or Banjo-Kazooie ... the list goes on...) Especially if it gets limited to just one thread per game. Just have a look at the FunOrb Discussion forum, and you'll see just how multi-threaded and expanded things have been. And if FunOrb itself ever gets off the ground again? Well, this kind of removal/merge would result in a definite uproar. One you can be certain you'll find me involved with! BTW, I may not be into Stellar Dawn and/or WoL, but I sense the same risk of trouble with removing these. In all cases, the last post dates may be somewhat old, but there are still Tip.It'ers who play those games from Jagex. I hope you checked with Silverion himself on this one. As I understand it, most of ARENAScape's history is there, and it will likely cause hell if this one is removed. After having reviewed the discussion of this particular item so far, I'm not going to even try to get involved with this. Consider me as "No Comment. Have fun bashing each other!" ... :twss: Pardon me while I go relax my brain now. I just reminded myself what overload feels like... the hard way. <_< ~D. V. I'll handle this last part... Yes, in fact we have two. They are as follows... Friend Chat Channel -- Username "Shyla" Clan Chat Channel -- Clan Name "HYT" (BTW, you can use the "Visited Clan Chat" section to access it in-game.) BTW, while neither is official, these are as close as you'll ever get. They are the "Official 'Unofficial' chat channels" of Tip.It and its' Forums. Oh, and if/when you do come, let them know I sent you. Other than that, have fun, and I'll see you around sometime! ~D. V. "We have chat channels... there they are... see you there!" Sorry for the 5-day lag. =(
It has been a long time indeed. A little surprised that you've knocked down your status updates, though. =S
As for me, I've just been trying to stay alive. Danged heat. On the bright side, I joined Shyla's HYT Clan group a few days ago, and I picked up a few levels here and there. =)
How are you doing? o_o
