Even one's like these? Totally useless, completely ignorant and incredibly rude.

Efficiency Trolls
* I live in a cave and cook game over an open fire. I've never known the luxury of living in a modern house with bathrooms, kitchen appliances, electricity, etc. But I'm perfectly happy living in a cave, so why would I need to try it? Just because you like something doesn't mean you can't find something that serves your needs better. But if he's happy there, who are you to judge until such a point that he comes asking for your opinion? That's really the crucial issue here. People giving opinions where they're not wanted.

In your opinion. But that doesn't mean everyone thinks that way. In what way you have fun is not stated by a definition it is an opinion. Research provides the best known way to do something. Is that an opinion? Best known mathematically, but that isn't how some people have fun. If you're idea of fun is to get the most exp/gp/points/rank out of your time, so be it. Some of us don't think of it like that. I never said fun = highest numerical xp/hr or gp/hr. Even for "fun" activities like castle wars or just general fooling around, how do you know it's fun until you've heard about it and tried it? Experimentation and keeping a research-oriented mindset opens up possibilities. Likewise, being smart about how you have fun and gathering info on what you could do for fun maximizes your experiences. Stating the excuse "oh shut up I have my own way of having fun" closes your opportunities and exposes you to boredom. Ignoring good advice has no reasonable excuse other than pride. * I like Halo. I've never played CoD for more than ten minutes, but I'm perfectly happy on Halo so why would I need to play it more? * I play Pokemon Platinum. I've never played HG/SS, but I'm happy on Platinum so why would I need to? * I used to play CW. I've never PKed but I was perfectly happy playing CW so why would I need to? * I go to the Warehouse in town on a night out. I've never been to Lava but I'm happy at the Warehouse so why would I need to? Please explain to me where I'm bored simply for not being 'smart' and 'gathering info' on what else I could do.

I hear you could 'toggle' the shoes in HGSS but this was removed for Black and White. Actually, my biggest gripe with this game is the removal of so many 'little things' from Gen 4. I miss the Day Care Centre App from DPP, even if he does call you from the road... <_< Demoli: Classic DS and DS Lite cannot connect to WPA settings. DSi and 3DS can. You could change your router security settings to WEP, which the former two consoles accept.

Except that it doesn't fit into boxes that neatly. What is efficiency? To me it's minimising the amount of time/cost needed to achieve a specifically set goal. To others it's simply the mental state of being determined. What is fun? To some, it's actually being efficient. To others, it's anything but. To the minority it's doing things in the strangest way possible (The Kahbahgee thing wasn't exactly efficient yet no one seemed to give two about that - it was as much a social activity as anything else). Also, most people don't want to shoved down one path and told to walk. People like variety.

This thread is completely frustrating to read. Advice giving isn't about tell someone what to do, it's about empowering them with the information and the skills needed to make their own, informed decision relevent to their own wants and values, and the circumstances they find themselves in. An appeal for advice in the form of a thread on the H&A forum, or a post in the OT board's relevent thread is not a request for someone else to 'call the shots'.

I can't remember there being anything spectacular about Seismitoad. Might be useful against Clay, especially Exca but nothing else springs to mind.

12-Apr-2011- Clan Camp, Support and Web Pages
Well, what should they be focusing those resources on then? I mean, give me specifics. What kind of updates would enhance RuneScape in your opinion, if not support for the clan community?

If clans are the death of RuneScape, can I ask what the life of the game is? Try and give your answer within the context of a MMORPG.

Yeah and undoubtedly there are people who would just like the icon for their clan's cape anyway so... that's kind of justifiable in itself really.

No, of course, I understand. I'm not saying it's major but it just seems... strange. I mean, RS is a game so focused around the acquisition of skillcapes it seems weird for the game's developers to release something that looks indistinguishable to the uneducated eye. Of course, most clan members are regular players so wouldn't have this problem.

If you're blessed with a continuity of RS knowledge, yes, but I haven't played for three months and I'm not really in a position to relearn all the news because I'm already trying to catch up on years of missed information in Pokemon (which is a surprising lot). TBH when I first saw the capes, it was a cape with a magic hat and a death rune. I intuitively thought during the three months I'd been away they'd replaced the trimmed skillcapes with capes that showed two icons instead. I at least expected Jagex to have the common sense not to put skill icons on the clan capes anyway.

Having not played in three months I logged in today to see the new capes and easily mistook them for skillcapes. Something about 'forcing your opinion on the group'.

Only problem with Venusaur is its perenial dependence on either SD support or Ninetales but it's in the OU tier anyway. Half the intended speed, weak solarbeam (unless you run energy ball) and lack of the SD double Growth makes it pretty flimsy in a sandstorm/hail, so it's weak to weather inducers.

Real life help & advice
I wasn't aware lithium medication was even legally obtainable without a prescriptive license. Good lord... You must be sceptical about any information you find on the Internet pertaining to medicine, especially psychiatric assessments because they are generally so easy to forge and pass off as 'real'. There are websites out there that tell you conventional medicine has no effect on the body and that we should convert to homeopathy, when there isn't any scientific evidence to support the former claim, and it's a blatent attempt to give misinformation so people will buy drugs from them (or another website owned by them or a business partner). Likewise, there are very sick websites that mislead people into thinking they have serious problems when, in fact, they only have minor problems or even none at all. Diagnoses on these websites really come down to how patients answer the questions and are thusly nothing more than a self-diagnosis, which is potentially dangerous if people then go one step further and start ordering drugs for a condition they may not actually have. The reality is only a trained health professional can properly diagnose a personality disorder and it is definitely true that the only psychiatrists can prescribe lithium. Your first point of contact for mental health related issues should be your family doctor, most commonly a GP. Ask for a double appointment (20 mins) because psych problems tend to take longer to investigate properly. He'll ask you a few questions about your diet, weight and lifestyle, and explore the thoughts that have lead you to suspect you're paranoid. If he thinks there's something worth investigating he'll pass you on to secondary care, which could possibly include an appoinment with a psychiatrist who may prescribe lithium. In the meantime, consider visiting a counsellor who may be able to help talk things through if things are too much and your parents won't listen. That's the route I would urge you to take, not the self-medicating path this website seems to have advised.

48÷2(9+3) = ????
BIDMAS says 288. The problem is when people multiply the 12 before dividing the 48.

ever been *tempted* to cheat?
If Jagex had a decent banking interface the need to create dups wouldn't be such a great problem anyway. There's something very different from duping items to sell for profit and duping items for convenience in the bank. Why can't there just be an option of "Locking" an item in place in the bank?

"I want a girlfriend/boyfriend", and other such relationship advice
From anyone's perspective, that novelty won't last very long. There's nothing worse for girls (or guys) than going out with someone who's a shadow of their former selves. Sure, you get caring people, but if sympathy is the only thing the relationship was based on then it just doesn't work. For one, it's just boring spending all your time doing the same thing and secondly it doesn't play out logically. You're in a bad place, they give you sympathy, you get out of the bad place and... now what? With no real interests to speak of, where's the relationship going? How can you be outgoing when there's literally nothing else to do? That approach is going to lead to either: 1) Unsatisfactory, brief relationships; or 2) Girls who'll deliberately keep you in the bad place to keep the basis of the relationship alive. OK, I'm gonna go out on a limb here and if it gets cut off because I've got the wrong end of the stick, so be it. I don't know much about you, but from this thread and others it sounds like you're in a bit of a hole and you're looking for answers to help get out of it. Instead of waiting for a girl to come and rescue you ("its nice to at least have that person to talk to and support you"), maybe you need to look at why you're in that hole? If it's a lack of motivation or just a lack of interest, then find something you're passionate about, join a voluntary organisation or a club that deals with that interest. That would be a great place to start if you're looking for something to kickstart your life again. The number of people I know who have come out of crap relationships, reclused from the world and started spending all their time indoors feeling sorry for themselves, but as soon as they've gone out and chased something they think is worth doing and found there's more to themselves than the failure of that one relationship--it's a great way to restore damaged self-esteem.

Jagex - Bot Busting
Because that approach works so well in real life, right? http://www.publicservice.co.uk/news_story.asp?id=15743 I'm obviously not comparing murder to botting, but the theme of authority figures ignoring reports from the public is still there.

Isn't there a thread for this on VG&C? No need to split the discussion in two. Let it flow.

Cheating
I'm just trying to think this through from a sports point of view since that's the arena that cheating has most to gain in terms of competitiveness. Now, it's obvious that people who take anabolic steroids are given bans, but this isn't necessarily with the aim to stop people gaining an unfair advantage. There are people who have been banned for taking steroids even because they took them for medicinal purposes (eg HGH deficiency) and didn't declare it. With RuneScape, we're not talking about people hacking their stats to Level 200 or something, so we're not talking about motives, but we are talking about methods. Stopping people from gaining an advantage is one thing about cheating but it's also about trying to maintain a healthy spirit of competitiveness and it's also about rewarding hard work and training, and one way that that's achieved is by making sure the methods through which people 'train' are legitimate and fair on everyone else. People may have their own opinions but I don't think hacking Pokemon is a good way of maintaining that spirit.

Cheating
Which begs the question: Why not just stick to a simulator? Is there any need to hack Pokemon with perfect IV spreads and compete with people who don't have that luxury, when there's a totally free service that takes all of two minutes to download on the Internet that does the same thing? I've seen some people say in relation to RuneScape that if a botter grinds his way up to 99 combat stats, and then competes in the Wilderness (or some other PvP situation) with someone who has gained those same stats legitimately, it's unfair because the botter hasn't "earned" them. Isn't that the same logic? There's nothing illegitimate about having Level 99, it's the method through which it is obtained that's questionable. Likewise with IV spreads and hacking, even if the IV spreads themselves are technically feasable according to the mechanisms of the game.

Cheating
Oh, I don't care about people cheating the main story. It's a single player RPG after all so you're just ruining your own experience. I've also had other people hack Evo items for me. But when people are competing against each other (in post-game), surely it's a basic principle that each player should start at the same level on an even playing field?
