  1. On the basis that you need 8,791,485xp to achieve 99 Construction, and each SC hammer gives 50,750xp's worth regardless of the plank before crumbling, you'll need 174 hammers, or 3480 Stealing Creation points. If we say each 1fastSC game lasts 13 minutes and gives 22/23 points (22.5 for argument's sake), it would take 34 hours of 1fastSC to get the hammers you need. It might be better to sell the mahogany logs/planks, and buy teak planks instead. Check the xp/gp rates for teak and oak before doing it because they're about similar but fluctuate. Goldsmith gauntlets works with Superheat Item, so you can smelt as you mine: Though in my honest opinion (not stats), goldsmithing is so relatively slow compared to dragonhides w/SC needle that you could easily make up the money for the higher expenses on the latter method with the time saved.
  2. Whip and GS have five attack levels between them, whip is only better with the off-hand slot, can't train strength and is beaten by an item ten levels higher. We're hardly talking a 54 level difference running the wrong way for an item that's ubiquitously superior when we talk about whip vs GS.
  3. I think you have to look at requirements. SSH requires a defence level of 45, very low by anyone's standards except pures and skillers, and can be gained by any player who's in a team with a 41 slayer - not even requiring the 41 slayer themselves, and again, a very low requirement that takes no time to achieve. It's clear they pitched the SSH at mid-to-low level players, yet defensively it's preferred over a Tier 11 platebody/leather body/robe top. For a level 45 item dropped by a night spider, floor 12, to provide more protection than a level 99 item dropped by Dreadnaut, floor 45, doesn't make sense. You can talk about how CR > whip, and there'll always be a 'best item', but the attack levels required for those respective items reflect that - this isn't the case for the SSH by a long shot. It's like getting to level 45 slayer, receiving SOL-dropping ice wyrms, and making levels 46-99 meaningless. Furthermore, it essentially rules out binding ranged and mage armour/equipment, once again reinforcing the idea that in RuneScape: melee > everything.
  4. Firstly, how many people are in clans? (I'm reckoning not a lot) Secondly, it's a bit egotistic to suggest the longevity you talk of could only have been provided through Tip.It and RSC. If Penguin hunting is organised very capably through the RSOF, why can't anything else? Furthermore, if the supposedly competent people on Tip.It weren't on Tip.It because Tip.It didn't exist, they'd be on RSOF, organising stuff there.
  5. But if we break that analogy into a process, it's either one of two things: 1) People want to compete in a clan -> Find Tip.It -> Play RuneScape 2) Play RuneScape -> People want to compete in a clan -> Find Tip.It It's pretty obvious 1) doesn't happen in the real world.
  6. Reminds me of when Hunter was released. Seems silly to believe but yes, even Crimson swifts were impossible to get a hold of without waiting a fair while.100s of people in a 20x20 area.
  7. +7 stab/slash/crush boost from adamant defender to rune defender, but only +5 boost from rune to dragon defender. Strange, but I suppose balanced.
  8. If the internet was shut down I think we'd have bigger problems than not being able to make fan sites, as far as keeping RS afloat. You've got this random infeasible idea that you're trying to force into being discussable, but it just isn't. Fan sites are a direct result of RS being popular- you can't imagine what might happen if they didn't exist because that would go hand in hand with a completely unrelated lack of interest in the game. Fan sites are a symptom of a healthy community- healthy communities are not the result of fan sites. Related to this discussion: http://tvtropes.org/...ain/TheWikiRule I agree that this thread doesn't have any discursive value, but I'm not sure if I agree with the Wiki rule. Take Pokemon. Bulbapedia exists as a Wiki, Smogon exists as a fansite. The wiki serves to provide information based on objectivity and fact, the fansite offers personal opinions on competitive strategy. They exist alongside each other, and have different niches. The thing about Tip.It, in my own humble opinion, is that Tip.It attempts to be both and fails to be either. It doesn't have the same quantity of information as RS Wiki, and it doesn't offer the practical advice that can be found on other RuneScape fansites, let alone to the quality of a site like Smogon. Take the magic guide; doesn't even mention the String Amulet spell, let alone its usefulness in training the skill quickly and relatively inexpensively. Of course, Tip.It predates RS Wiki. It may have served a wider purpose many years ago. Can you say that nowadays, Tip.It is keeping RS open for business? Not a chance.
  9. OMG... Robert Green is still trying to forget about it. Shh! :-# It's always nice to see you in HYT. Gives me two places to stalk you from.
  10. I think the question is, would people be any less offended if they were rated by people who kept themselves anonymous using a star rating system? Surely the answer is yes. BlogScape has always been spammy because, frankly, there isn't much to talk about in RS.
  11. I think you meant 'Yes' then? If Tip.It didn't exist, something else would. If fansites didn't exist, it's because RuneScape isn't popular enough. The only exception to that rule are cult games, and RuneScape is far from developing a cult any time soon.
  12. You contradicted yourself in five words. Nice one. There's no basis for the 'liking sports cars' bit. It's nice that you think "I like nice sports cars" is a decent argument, but "I like cutting willows" isn't. That bit made me chuckle, actually. Can you? Really? Arguments based on flawed information are still wrong, are they not? Do you have to swear or make some vulgar remark in every post you make? It doesn't add anything to the thread.
  13. Is it logic that brought you to play this game in the first place? Did logic persuade you to fork out for that fancy BMW? The decision to buy an expensive house four years ago using a 125% mortgage that you couldn't afford to repay was clearly a logical one. Logic rarely enters the thought process when deciding what we want to do, thus neither does objectivity. You're far more likely to find irrationality in any decision that concerns what we'd "like" to happen. If people want to 'play illogically', they're hardly doing anything that's unnatural.
  14. Unless you're absolutely adamant on using a Tip.Iter's house, isn't world 31 Yanille your best bet for gilded altars and lecturns?
  15. When all is polite: 1) If you go to a spot where someone else is training, you hop; 2) Vice versa, they hop. When they're being anal: 1) Crash, and make life as difficult as possible in the process until they learn that anonymity isn't an excuse for a loss of common courtesy.
  16. I <3 RS That T's gonna get me laid, I just know it.
  17. Have you never heard of empathy? I don't have to be the OP to understand where his frustration is coming from. And by the feedback so far on this thread, I clearly don't have some superhuman capacity for empathy, because a lot of others have demonstrated it. I gave you a direct point, and you just deflected it back to the OP. That's not really arguing, in fact it's the opposite. "Are you the OP?" isn't a counterpoint, sorry. So really, can you just give a straight answer: Why don't you simply ignore this thread if you feel it to be so meaningless? Why do you have to impose yourself on an issue that you feel has no merit?
  18. Well... you clearly are upset by the presence of this thread, or you wouldn't be posting on here calling him, quote, 'stupid' (unless you're just trying to be an ass on purpose, but I'll assume good faith). The irony lies in the fact you're telling him to ignore whatever's upsetting him, whilst not doing the same yourself. Oh, but... we thought you liked arguing? And we seem to disagree so... that's unfortunate, I guess. It's just common sense really. Wanting to do it your way, then having a stranger take time out of their busy schedule to tell you you're being stupid. Yeah, I reckon most people would get just little bit irked by that. Tell you what, go up to your teacher or boss tomorrow and tell him/her they're not doin it rite. See what happens. Better still, go into a bar on a Saturday night and tell the biggest bloke there that the cheap perfume they're wearing doesn't smell too great. See what happens. Do you see where I'm going here?
  19. The problem is that it's not an issue. It would be an issue if he were unable to turn his chat off, but only because spam is annoying, not because they're saying mean things. Does it not seem ironic that whilst you're saying that, you could just as easily be ignoring this thread and moving on to the next one? No one's making you post on this thread; if you don't see an issue, just ignore it. I suppose his turning of public chat to 'Friends' in RuneScape could be your adding him to your ignore list on TIF. Just an idea.
  20. Looking forward to your chameleon PKing... even if this no longer allows a minotaur... epic lolz. But seriously, nice PKing vid.
  21. Yeah... 96 fish... it's alright I guess Tbh 74 hunt is far more impressive tbh And my mouse works. :^_^:
  22. Again, posting on a forum to get attention to the issue? whodafunkit
  23. Sometimes I look at the reaction on these threads and think, "If the lead developer is reading this now, he'll probably cry himself to sleep tonight and resign during some drunk, depressive episode in the morning." (<--- insert feminine pronouns for lack of sexism). TIF can be a harsh crowd at times. But seriously, whoever came up with the bright idea of walking from Nardah to the Gnome Stronghold as a fun thing to do on a Wednesday afternoon needs to cry themselves to sleep. I've not done the quest yet, but the feedback I'm seeing from other people is that the development team lost perspective on this update completely, trying to tie-in storylines that didn't need to be, forcing players to go on some painful errand for no apparent reason other than, they can.
  24. I don't normally spam but... inb4eliteTokens, just to troll those who are grinding Warriors Guild right now as we speak? Actually, I find it quite funny.
