That's great news, please keep telling me, being a European without easy access to up-to-date information, how things are going. Absolutely great.

That's the danger. If people in the West see Obama doing as well as he is in the East (taking Pennsylvania, looking like Florida) they'll leave the long ques and not bother. It might not matter anyway since CA will still go to Obama and the other states have practically no votes, but it does seem a bit daft. Here we have only one time zone and all constituencies have the same opening hours.

2011/12 Football Season
How the heck Liverpool can sit there and accuse Ronaldo of diving when they have Stevie G. is totally beyond me. It was a nice impersonation of Tom Daley though.

What makes me laugh is there'll be a record voter turnout in the leader of the democratic free world, in the most significant election for a while, and I bet only 30% will get off their [wagon] and vote.

"I want a girlfriend/boyfriend", and other such relationship advice
[hide=!!!CONFIDENCE!!!] [/hide] I'm seeing that you've got two problems here. The first involves your current girlfriend. All relationships, especially young early relationships, begin with a "honeymoon period", a time where the two people involved think more highly of each other. Mostly, that's just to do with the excitement of experiencing something new, just like anything else in life. Sex exaggerates this feeling. What seems to be happening is you've gotten over the excitement, the sex is now repetitive because you've exhausted it, and because there's nothing deeper connecting you to her, you're just not interested any more. Simply put: find something else that connects the two of you together, apart from wanting to be together and sex. There must be some hobbie you both enjoy, music, films etc. Explore that connection, go out and see if that sparks up interest again. Secondly, stop having sex so much. Too much of a good thing becomes boring, no matter how good it is, and having sex loads isn't the hallmark of a good relationship (in fact, I'd probably argue it's the sign of a relationship going belly-up). Restrict yourself to only having it once every so often, and then it actually starts to regain a meaning. Now, the second problem is your relationship with your ex (or whatever her status is) and their best friend. Really, the only person causing trouble there is your ex. She's deliberatly trying to rock the boat, break the two of you apart and get in on you after, and quite clearly, she doesn't care about the consequences. Maybe she's overcompensating for the fact she didn't spend any time around her mates while she was studying, so she's gonna make up for it by pursuing them aggressively now. As for their best mate, she's really in the same situation as you - right in the middle between your current girlfriend and your ex. What all three of you (especially you) need to do is tell her in no uncertain terms she's got to stop going after you. The two of you can be friends but that's all there's gonna be for the time being at least, quite possibly forever. She isn't being a good friend to her best mate by involving her in this dispute against your current girlfriend, nor is she being that nice to you for putting you in this dilemma. Her actions are reckless and destructive and that has to stop. If she doesn't like your current girlfriend, tough luck, it's your choice who you spend time with. She needs to deal with this maturely by backing off, or not deal with it at all and shut up. Bit of a Hobson's Choice, but those are the cards on the table. By the way, your girlfriend won't commit suicide if you break up. That's the most obvious control-by-dependence technique going.

Ain't it strange all these miscallibrations always seem to select the Republican candidate? I remember such incidents in 2004 and I'm told it happened in 2000 too. Especially given it's a problem which takes about 2 minutes to fix.

Debate Club becoming a sub-section of General Discussion?
If I'm perfectly honest, I remember when the DC first came about and it was a respected board with plenty of mature discussion. Now it's descended into a mudslinging contest. I seldom find any difference between DC and Rants these days.

Obama's Grandmother Died.
Unless she died as a result from bad healthcare I can't see how that works. Most people can see Obama for the rich, middle-class politician he is. The fact of the matter is this: she was old, and old people die.

Could a Facist Democracy work?
I've never understood why people say this lol. I know, the Soviet Union worked great. Oh... The Soviet Union collapsed because it was the only Communist economy in a world otherwise dominated by Capitalism. Marx is quite clear - Communism has to spread in order to survive, and Stalin didn't spread the revolution. Also, you should really go back and study the shape Russia was in during 1917 under the Tsars and the Provisional Government. That same country only 25 years later won the biggest land battle in history. Cuba has a higher life expectancy than the US. It's by no means a total failure, because Fidel altered the definition of Communism to fit around the trade embargo placed on it by the US during the Cold War. Arrogantly calling Communism a failure might score brownie points with a Capitalist, but it won't get you anywhere in a debate.

Obama's Grandmother Died.
I think it's more the timing than anything. Exactly. I mean, given how close the two of them were. It would be like my Dad dying the day before I graduate from university. Can't imagine how bad that feels when you're a day away from winning the biggest job in the world.

Is God real post your thoughts!
Apart from written accounts of the event, which can always be manipulated and are more reliable in gaining an opinion rather then a factual sequence of events, there's no evidence to suggest Jesus did turn water into wine. I'm more likely to believe the stories about Jesus in the Bible are not meant to be taken literally, but are metaphors to illustrate guidelines the Bible means to convey. For example, the miracle of the fish and the bread. I don't believe for one minute he fed the masses on such a ridiculously low amount of food, however, I'm prepared to believe the hidden moral was that he taught people how to share food fairly amongst everyone, rich and poor, so as few people as possible starved to death. Come to think it, that's all I see Holy Books as being: guidelines. There's a very good reason why Muslims are told to prepare meat in a certain way, given the hot climate in the Middle-East, even if you don't believe Allah exists.

Is this considered racism?
We're in a war against Muslims? That's news to me.

An emote worth adding? (Also, suggest more here!)
You're presuming there's even a small amount of discontent with the forum's current "répertoire". The vast, vast, vast majority of users are perfectly happy with the ones we have already. As said, those very few who aren't could just go find other emotes themselves, but that hardly justifies spending even more of the technical team's valuable volunteered time on something which would be used by about a dozen people. This firmly goes into the tray labelled "Would be nice, but not necessary and wastes more time than it merits", although I'll confess that would be one long label.

What miracles would these be? A rainbow? Is the refraction of light from the Sun as it hits a liquid (rain) and enters a medium with a different density to air, and again as it leaves. A fairly simple phenomenon that can be repeated manually by man using a glass triangular prism and a single beam of light, or if you're on a shoe-string budget, by sticking a straw into a glass full of water. I can't see any evidence of a "miracle" there, and hence, the existence of a higher being.

"I want a girlfriend/boyfriend", and other such relationship advice
It really depends on the person. There's a difference between self-confidence, where you feel comfortable about yourself and who you are, and social confidence where you have the ability to express yourself without anxiety of how others perceive or judge your character. I think it's a given you have to feel confident about yourself. Not necessarily to the point you become an ego-maniac, but you need to at least be able to laugh at yourself. Some people like to be friends with nervous wrecks, but I think even they would rule out a relationship there. Social confidence is different though. Would I want to go out with someone who expresses her opinions no matter how offensive they are around all my friends? Absolutely not. That's not a farfetched example either, there's plenty of people out there like that. I'm not saying there's necessarily anything wrong in being that extroverted, but it's simply not for me. Stop trying to define certain personality traits as being less or more likely to pick up a girlfriend/boyfriend. Everyone is different, learn to be comfortable with who you are. As the saying goes: Get the mind right, and the rest will follow.

Forgive me for thinking the point of a language is that you can communicate effectively, rather than spell each and every word absolutely perfectly. Seriously, everyone knows what "gramar" or "grammer" and all the other misspelt words mean. Arguing about how they're spelt is for people who have too much free time on their hands.

To be honest, there's nothing even stopping you from using the emotes. If people felt a compulsive desire to use different emoticons to those provided by the forum they would just go do it themselves without Tip.It's help. There's enough sets out there...
