Runescape being of use in real life.
RuneScape, when you take into account what else I could have been doing with my time, was about as much use to me as a wooden frying pan.

Homosexuality: Right or Wrong?
Kids going to a gay marriage. Oh no? Seriously, I was raised an Atheist and I went to a church on a school day out when I was aged 8. The history lessons I received on Ireland were given by a Protestant Unionist, despite me agreeing in principle with the Republicans' cause and being half-Irish myself. You don't find my parents complaining about the influence school had on me. Don't tell me you consider that as evidence of forcing liberal morals onto school children, unless you're afraid of children seeing the world around them for themselves. Challenging children about subjects they may otherwise feel awkward with is part of education. It allows them to approach those issues again later on in life with some sense of maturity. Well maybe to you that doesn't mean anything but to most people it does. That was one of the main reasons it passed. To a lot of people it went from letting gays do their own thing to forcing it upon children. I wouldn't want my six year old learning about gay marriage alongside regular marriage. And the teachers union basically said that they were going to teach it "Whether you Like it or not!" to quote Gavin Newsom. Why not? You'll no doubt drill it into their head it's wrong when they're outside of school anyway. What's wrong with school giving them a balanced view of the world? There are only two rational reasons why I can think people would honestly feel uncomfortable with their children receiving education on gay marriages: 1) Homophobia - simply put, they just don't like gays. 2) A fear of their children "choosing" to be homosexuals. Now if we both accept it's in the national interest to remove hatred and prejudice from society, reason 1) simply doesn't cut. If we also accept that homosexuality isn't a choice or some sort of mental illness (I'm not arguing this point, it isn't), then reason 2) doesn't hold either. In other words, people voting for Prop 8 on the basis of their children's education haven't cast a vote with proper reasoning. It reminds me of the calls for an EU referendum in this country, where's it's patently obvious that those calling for a referendum are not informed enough to make an informed decision. Explain to me the point in putting something to a referendum when people are gonna make such badly informed decisions? Although of course you'll no doubt find some convoluted excuse somewhere since it does, after all, help the anti-gay cause, don't it? OK, the embryo's growing. There's one of the conditions needed to say something is "living" in biological terms. You know as a biologist there are more conditions that need to be met. The only biological argument I can think of that justifies being against abortion is that the new embryo has a different genetic make-up than its mother so could be argued has its own independent life. But in reality, aside from its ability to grow (since it can now grow through mitosis as well as meiosis), an embryo isn't that much different to a gamete. Above all else, to say an embryo can survive outside the womb is just contradictory. You know full well that generally, a human embryo in the first or second trimester will not survive birth. By that token, you're actually saying an embryo is about as living as a sperm in that period.

Acne
See if you can get some minor treatment prescribed from your GP until 2010. Most acne treatments take a good few months to start taking effect anyway so it's a good timescale if you're serious on beating it for good.

Acne
More or less totally misleading statement, given severe acne can lead to depression and even suicide. Somehow I doubt the pimples grew hands, grabbed a knife and stabbed itself. Suicide is cowardly, unless you know you're going to die the most painful, gruesome death ever. If someone killed themselves over acne, there's one less idiot we have to worry about. I take it you have suffered from depression caused by bullying and that your viewpoint is inspired through experience as opposed to judgementalism then. [/hide] I wonder where you got that idea from? I was being facetious. I'm saying you're not really in any position to judge the mentality of those who take their lives due to low self-esteem as cowardice, unless of course, you're secretly a psychiatrist when you're not on the Net and you took the liberty of analysing such a patient for yourself.

Marijuana, why isn't it legalized?
There's a few people I know who use weed. Indeed, I was asked to come out once to give one of them first aid. They'd fallen over and smashed their head on a rock. Not having any equipment, I said the best place for them was the hospital. He was bleeding and it needed patching up, but none of them would take him through fear of being questioned by the police. If legalising encourages people to get the help they need, I'm for it. I really couldn't care less about how immoral or stupid taking substances is. What's important is that people are safe.

Wow. A Killers pack with Mr Brightside on it. Plus Oasis, REM and Lostprophets. I never expected Alicia Keys to get on Guitar Hero either. If enough bands release their own packs it could really catch on. :

If a cure for Lung Cancer was invented...
If a cure for cancer ever was made, whatever pharmaceutical company who made would trickle it down in little tidbits of expensive info anyway, meaning it would forever until your average person, or any national healthcare system, would be able to afford it. It certainly wouldn't mean an end to all lung cancer related deaths.

The Offical TIF American Elections thread
Heh, the issue is determining if it is technically "born" and if it is capable to think. We don't know that. Well, most people think with their brain, and it's also from the brain that the feelings come. So, it'd be safe to assume abortion is moral at least until the embryo has developed a nervous system, isn't it? Is it a living human before it has a nervous system? Oh yay. Because if there's one thing this board needs right now, it's more circular reasoning.

Indeed. Otherwise I'd be on the next bus down to Bolton for my regional powerankings. Seriously, I thought I was good until I played manoman and got knocked out of the first tourney in the first round, 4-1. I had a natural gift for the game, there's no denying that, but technically I was awful and clueless. I didn't learn and played Kent in the next tourney, and got beaten 5-0. It was then I realised - learn the SH, and start becoming active on SW's TL board. I did, and improved, and I reached the final. Playing enemies bigger than you inspires you to do better, just by watching them play. Not even if it's a: [hide=]nIizA_ax51A& [/hide]

Is God real post your thoughts!
And outlawing homosexual marraige isn't forcing morals onto people, Atheist or otherwise? The Church isn't being forced to marry gays. It can quite easily relinquish its exclusivity to marry people if it doesn't agree with the legislature... Freedom to choose is by definition not forcing morals onto anyone. For the matter, there are Christians who accept abortion too. People can have different interpretations of a book.

Barack Obama is the 44th President of the United States
Erm... a lot. Where did Ralph Nader finish again? Doing YouTube videos with Obamagirl? You need a party machine to drive you forward in democratic politics. That also explains Obama's victory. Considering he was up against an ex-Vietnam vet, his ground operation simply dwarfed McCain's.

Acne
There's (I think, don't quote me) three drugs which are used to fight acne. If those haven't worked, ask your doctor about minocycline. I was prescribed some but it didn't have any effect on me whatsoever. What you have to remember is acne is caused by bacteria. Washing your face twice a day, and wiping away any food away from your face after eating fatty foods are also effective.

Homosexuality: Right or Wrong?
Why are you talking about the future? Your comments were quite clearly about the state of European affairs in the past 30 years, not how it's gonna be in the future. Please stay on-topic. You're of course fully entitled to your opinion, but I leave you with a small piece of evidence which blows your "economic decline" argument to pieces: [hide=][/hide]

Yeah... No. So Jesus did literally walk on water then, in your view?

Is God real post your thoughts!
Really? Then why is it going to be discussed about the in a few months by the church? The thing is, there's been Christians saying for generations that when the Bible talks about how God made life over several days, the days really stand for stages in evolution. Of course, I regard that as "covering your tracks" rather than any real knowledge about evolution, but it's still a valid opinion. I don't know what part of Christianity you're a member of Saru, but not all Christians will literally accept the Bible word-for-word, and there are plenty of Christian organisations that will accept the Bible has scope to accept evolution.
