And factories. Oh damn, don't forget power stations too.
  3. Why does anyone need to justify the reasons for wanting a skillcape? I wasn't aware it was up to anyone else whether your own thoughts are right or not. If it makes you happy and you don't kill anyone in the process, go for it.
  4. yeF7yLkEECs Amazing. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/europe/7730834.stm
  5. Normally I'd agree with you. I read the same headlines and I think none of us have any right to judge anyone else unless we know the full story. BBC interviewed him on TV though and he was a right obnoxious... person.
  6. $5,000 is insanely low. Assuming you work full time with three weeks holiday a year you'd be earning four times that amount here on the minimum wage.
  7. Just throwing that out there for you guys trying to prove Yahweh/Jehovah exists. They're your bloody rules, so don't freak out. I know picking out quotes from holy books against religion is pedantic but how many of these are there? If a piece of scientific research was published with this many contradictions and flaws it would be ridiculed. Yet some on this thread seem to believe these books are the indisputable truth...
  8. I can imagine meeting him and wanting to spend no more than 30 seconds with him because his ego would be like this big: *Stretches arms out horizontally* He's got all the hall-marks of a guy who can't get enough of himself.

Aww... it's a shame you're not on Wi-Fi. I wanna see who's the better TL. ;) I did some maths about this thread: This thread gets about 28 posts a day on average. That's huge!
  10. They're not. Gays have been accepted by society though (at least, they have in most supposedly free countries). Bestiality, or any of the other groups, isn't accepted. You're arguing a totally redundant point when the whole nature of our argument is that marriage shouldn't be the bond between one man and one woman exclusively.
  11. Oh here we go again with the pretentious "I can argue about what an argument is longer than you can" brawl. It gets boring. We don't have to explain each and every single point and address each and every single counter-argument to support homosexual marriage. The desire for equality is justification enough.
  12. However, let us not blame America exclusively in this crime. The same is true in most democracies around the world. Now that politics has reached a stage where it's become a career, a way of life, politicians have to be careful about choosing which subjects to play with. Clearly, gay rights and abortion are political toxic. In Britain, France, America... you name it.
  13. Anarchy is a viable way of living. But it depends on one thing - for all of humanity to have established principles that they will follow out by themselves without the existence of a state to enforce those principles. I wouldn't go as far to say human society at large is at fault. But quite clearly, humanity isn't at a point in its development where it can be principled without a state government forcing those principles on them.
  14. Yet we conglomerate most of Africa, South Asia and the Caribbean as black? Irony, much? We don't even have a Black History Month. We're just taught that limiting opportunities to anyone based on race is wrong, hence why when Gordon Brown used the term "British jobs for British workers" there were one or two raised eyebrows over its implied meaning. As far as Jews are concerned, they really do get a lot of sympathy, especially when it comes to WWII. We get taught rather vigorously about the Holocaust. Along with only 30,000 Britons during the Blitz, they're emphasised as the 'main victims' in our slanted view of the War. Nothing about the millions of Soviets, Frenchmen or Italians who lost their lives fighting the Nazis. Nothing about the Maquis resistance. Nothing about the Spanish socialists and republicans who died trying to stop fascism. If you want to enter education into this debate, we could go on for an eternity. Education has to be provided by someone, and they will always have a biased view no matter how impartial they try to be. As far as BHM is concerned, I'll agree. The way it's named is horrible. But its main point is still correct - all races deserve equal opportunities in the Free world.
  15. Exactly the way it is (not that it should be that way) When you see a minority being proud of being what they are everyone thinks it's something to look up to, but when you see a member of a majority being proud of that, everyone calls it racism. What the [bleep] do white people have to be proud of. Nothing. The fundamental difference white people seem to miss is that there is no such thing as "white culture". Of course, you could count going to Africa and rounding up black teenage boys, shipping them to America in awful conditions and then whipping them into work as 'culture', but it's not really attractive. Black pride is a celebration of the culture that developed during their time as slaves, and the difficulty they faced gaining civil rights thereafter.
  16. The Tories aren't winning. I think that's the point. Every policy Cameron comes up with during the weekend and tells on BBC Breakfast Monday morning is ridiculed by midday, and Osbourne looks more incompetent with every passing week. Labour were imploding, and were losing massively to the SNP before Glenrothes. Scotland is Labour's heartland. That's why Labour's at the panic stations. Ironically, the current economic crisis is actually helping Brown. Traditional Labour supporters on the left would rather trust Brown than vote for the Liberals and the catastrophe that is Nick Clegg, and risk the Tories getting in.
  17. Ahh. I remember when I went on a equal rights march in Manchester many years ago. It was a campaign just for equal rights, let alone marriage. At the time, that idea was completely inconceivable! They just dismiss you as a bunch of liberal hippies but, it's nice to see people standing up for what they believe in rather than trying to eloquently word themselves to make them more presentable to the "middle ground". I remember it was that march and watching Billie Elliot that sparked my interest in politics. I miss those sorts of rallies. The last one we had was for Iraq...
  18. Just further proof that any one who says New Labour is still left-wing is quite clearly talking out their jacksie. Yet unfortunately, they are the only party out of the big three who would ever even consider down classifying drugs. In reply to your other thread by the way (I think it was you who asked), I've always voted Labour. Indeed, I'm actually a Youth member. Only costs a quid and they offer loads of volunteering work when they need it. :)
  19. Stop talking such rubbish, the problem you face is that there are many types of economic systems within the umbrella name of capitalism and for some reason think you have to explain the concepts of socialism to us. We understand what both socialism and capitalism is, we pledge our support for capitalism. Not because it causes millions to starve to death, but because we understand that when we are talking about capitalism we don't exclude it from the sphere of socialism, the majority of us live in social democracies for gods sake. You regard the UK a social democracy (even though that in itself is as much an umbrella term as capitalism)? Who are the banks owned by? Who are the vital factories owned by? The electricity suppliers? The waterworks? The trains? The buses? All of them are privatised. Do we have a major left-wing party in this country any more? No. OK. You have the NHS. Except we have a privatised drugs industry and health insurance. And the BBC at a push. Oh no wait. ITV, BSkyB... Score two for you... maybe. In any case, I don't see what this has to do about food in Africa, or how capitalism has in part caused the situation there.

I don't usually laugh at Falcon Kicks, but this one is hilarious. I had to post it: [hide=]cg-6f1vtOks [/hide]
  21. How many people have being killed in communist states around the world in engineered famines, forced labour camps, gulags, mass-deportations etc? 100m in total is it (around 65m of that in China, 20m in the USSR then a few more million in other places)? But yeah, communism is really nice and helps the poor  Who is arguing for communism here? Just because we're anti capitalist doesn't mean we're communist. [/hide] That's a new one, usually people just reply with "oh they weren't really communist". Well, if you wanted to prove you're only using textbook rehearsed answers, then way to go. Communism =/= socialism. I don't believe absolutely everything should be owned by the government. Such an idea is clearly unfair, complex and unnecessarily bureaucratic.
  22. In any case, this debate over capitalism vs socialism about waste and production is neither here nor there. The fact is, there is enough food in the world being produced to sustain the world's population. It's just that, for capitalism to work, those at the lowest end of the social hierarchy must be exploited to pay for the lifestyle of those above. As a result, we throw away tonnes and tonnes of food while the poorest starve. Under socialism, in theory, everyone receives more or less the same quantity of food, so either everyone starves, or few do. If you want to support a system that leaves millions to starve to death each year, then fine. It's a free country, it's widely accepted as the world's most popular economic model and it does produce the most - I'm not gonna stop you or try and change your mind. But at least understand what capitalism is before pledging your support for it.
  23. Holy jesus I barely even made it to the end of that sentence. I'm scared to read the rest of the post. Laugh while you have the consensus. There are two ways this can work out. 1. You guys realise how [bleep] stupid you are and the general consensus starts shifting to the left and we go from there. 2. You continue your little game, and people get tired of it. Eventually, the people who have had everything taken from them will TAKE IT BACK FROM YOU. All of it. By force. Such is the nature of a class war. The choice is yours. So are you not going to tell us another economical system that can produce as much as capitalism does? So are you not going to tell us another economical system that can waste as much as capitalism does?
  24. As far as ranks go, I can't understand why the Tip.It Crew, the editorial staff, the IRC staff or Jagex staff need them. Far from what n_odie says, I don't think they serve any purpose and I don't think they're needed for them to effectively do their role at all, given about three-quarters of the submissions we dealt with weren't even in the public eye. I also thought the same when I was on the Tip.It Crew. Same goes for the garish purple text that accompanies them (which looks awful on most of the board styles anyway). The most they need is "Tip.It Crew" as their user rank. If the whole of the Tip.It Staff really were as selfless as they make out to be, they'd be happy with that. Also, I personally found the avatar a huge hinderence. Whenever I wanted to make a controversial opinion in OT, I couldn't because if I did, that would be seen as the Tip.It Staff's viewpoint. A couple of people actually contacted me after I left the Crew saying they'd noticed my writing tone was much more open and happier without the shadow of an official avatar hanging over me. Like skatedog, I don't mean to hate on people, but I'm calling things the way I see it. It is somewhat ironic the Tip.It Staff constantly speak out against elitism, yet in my experience, this is one of the most elitist communities I have ever seen. It's too much about the rank, rather than the substance of the person behind it, if that makes sense? If you want proof, two hours in the IRC channel should make you see clearly. As far as OT goes, I'm getting fed up of it too. I think 1_man_army's signature sums up my feelings. Why can't people admit to being just a tiny bit vulnerable, or 'wrong'? We all have our faults. Thinking back on members like Goddess, that's pretty much why people liked her. She had her beliefs, she was prepared to help people even if it meant making blunt comments about them to their face, she admitted she had faults (her bipolar status, which was removed , but nonetheless). It makes the experience much more... personal. What happened? She was bullied off the forum by a few cowards who thought the sun shined out their [wagon] because of her opinions on some fairly controversial topics they didn't happen to like. Instead of waiting for adequate protection, she left. That's not a "community without faults" by any stretch of the imagination. There's other examples like her. People who made the OT community so pleasant who just got fed up of all the pretentiousness. To tell you the truth, I wouldn't want one. I want people on Tip.It to see me for who I am and what I believe in, rather than what a few people on the Tip.It Staff think of me. Indeed. The very idea seems very hypocritical, does it not?

I'm flattered you seem to think I'm the best here (joking). :P I still haven't found my copy of Brawl. Hence my recent activity in the GH thread instead. I might join later but not for now, even though I'd love to. If people keep brawling, its longevity is assured.
