  1. Urghh thanks for the popups, Zonda. And I actually block them ! Got a message it couldn't find a file in a message box (suspicious), then it opened 3 windows. :s
  2. Geek ? What are you talking about ? Go with whatever you want, though I believe the storyline matters.
  3. You realize that the last Star Wars movie that just was/still is in theaters is number 3 in the series and that there are 6 of them, right ? The last one, storyline-wise is "The Return of the Jedi". Ok, I know they came out in a weird order, but if you like Star Wars, surely you know that. Release dates (date-ordered, not storyline-ordered): Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope (1977) Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back (1980) Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi (1983) Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace (1999) Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones (2002) Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith (2005)
  4. They're selling you updates: "oh it blocked a high-risk one, this program is worth my money !" ;) (I'm only half-kidding though) Seriously, most intrusions require you to have a trojan already on your computer so they can take control. They're simply probing to see if you've been infected before and if they can therefore do something. If you have an anti-virus, keep it updated and it's good, then you'll be ok most of the time without a firewall. I'm not trying to say a firewall's not needed, because it is (if you install a new program and you want to make sure it doens't connect to the net without you knowing or if it's not supposed to and it tries, but it's not like you install new stuff every single day I'm sure :)), but it's good to keep in mind what it's for.
  5. Point of training skills to 99: high-scores if you care - possibility of Jagex releasing new stuff at higher lvl Combat skills: self-explanatory, even for magic (more chance of successful spell + magic def based on mage lvl) Prayer: the only reason is that a dose of pray pot restores a percentage of your total lvl, so the higher you are, the more money you save (or the less you spend to be precise) on pray pots. If it wasn't for that, there would be no point in going to 99, except for saving a few doses when using prayer fully charged compared to someone who's 43. Runecrafting: no point past 91. That's when you get double nats. And you can make every kind of rune at 90. You get extra body, water and mind per essence at 92, 95 and 98 respectively, but that's not really a huge interest. Agility: restores faster. Herblore: no point past 78 (highest pot) Thieving: get caught less. Crafting: no point past 84 (highest craftable item) Fletching: no point past 85 (highest fletchable item) Slayer: no point past 85 (highest available monster) Mining: higher success Smithing: highest item is at 99 Fishing: catch faster Cooking: burn less Firemaking: no point past 80 (magic pyre logs) Woodcutting: cut faster Goes to show there are quite a few skills not worth getting to 99 if you don't consider my first line in this post. And I didn't even include the drinks that temporarily raise your stats, which means 99 smithing isn't actually necessary. You'll also notice that the skills worth training are those that have a luck or speed parameter.
  6. Did you try and find out what the script was ? Maybe it had nothing to do with a keylogger. As long as your firewall is on, it should ask you if you want such and such to connect. That's how most software firewalls work, they block on a per-software basis. If you've scanned with both anti-virus and spyware programs, you're good. As long as these progs were up-to-date of course.
  7. If the entire species becomes homosexual, sure, but just because * marriage is allowed doesn't mean every human being is going to become homosexual. No but it certainly isn't benefitting the species which violates evolutionary Laws (or theories). No, but it's not hurting us, so, why prohibiting it? I wasn't talking about marriage sorry :P I should've explained better, I was going off on a small tangent, that for people to believe in evolution, it's kind of hard to believe in homosexuality as a good thing from an evolutionary standpoint. I'd venture to say that even the most fervent supporters of homosexuality realize there's no part in evolution for that. ;) That's not an argument you'll hear from them.
  8. I believe I did have a suggestion. :?
  9. If the entire species becomes homosexual, sure, but just because * marriage is allowed doesn't mean every human being is going to become homosexual. No but it certainly isn't benefitting the species which violates evolutionary Laws (or theories). No, but it's not hurting us, so, why prohibiting it? If it's not hurting us or helping us, then it should neither be prohibited or encouraged. It doesn't do any good to outlaw something that's harmless or to promote something that's useless. So, if people want to practice homosexuality, let them, but don't encourage it by changing the law to make them feel more accepted. You answered your own question: see what I put in bold in your quote. Before, they didn't have equal rights. Now they do (in these countries). Why do you consider that allowing it ? Maybe it's removing what was prohibited. What you said yourself goes both ways. As to your previous post in this thread, that's narrow-minded. We've already established there's more to a homosexual relationship than kids, so don't base your judgement on that only. Would help if you read the other posts first.
  10. lpinkus, I agree with the general idea of your post, but you're wrong on one thing: Jagex doesn't have access to your credit card number. They use Worldpay for credit card payments. It's them who have your number.
  11. You missed the point. I never said there was any other natural way. I was arguing that there is more to marriage than kids, and we're past that already.
  12. Well at least you're not narrow-minded and you can post something like the above. That's refreshing. :) And that saves me the trouble of demonstrating it, which I was expecting to come next. ;) But doesn't that simply mean that you, and you only, disagree with the principle of a homosexual relationship ? Which is fine, by the way. But can you generalize that to the point of saying that homosexuals shouldn't get married ? I disagree. Plus a gouvernment, which gave them that right, is supposed to keep things fair between all and is supposed to be detached from religion (at least in the countries mentioned). So I don't really see where the issue is then. Bear in mind, I'm married and the idea of a homosexual relationship doesn't appeal to me at all, but I am not against them marrying. What would you say to a homosexual who doesn't believe in God and is not interested in kids ? Kinda hard to justify to them that they can't be married simply because you don't like the idea of such a relationship. I'm simply saying that some will always disagree with that, while others wil agree. It's human nature anyway, no matter the subject. At the end of the day, we should go beyond our personal feelings to determine what's right or wrong. I can conceive the idea of love with a woman (very much a marriage decision), so I can conceive the same for homosexuals, even if it's not something I like. Hope that explains where I was getting at.
  13. I'm with you so far. Now I'm not. From not being able to reproduce, you jump to "unnatural relation". Wrong. The logical conclusion was: "it is impossible for 2 men to reproduce". Never in the rest of the quote have you addressed any other element of a homosexual relationship besides kids. And there's more to it that that. Just like there's more to marriage than that.
  14. But none of this explains the link between kids and a homosexual marriage. Even if it was a rule in the past to be married to have kids, the reverse has never been true: you were never forced to have kids after getting married. Kids are but one aspect of marriage. How can you post homosexuals shouldn't get married because they can't have kids ? That's just one aspect of marriage that applies to heterosexuals. What about all the other reasons ? Why deprive them from that just because they can't reproduce ? That's what gets me here... EDIT: Oh almost forgot. Spain just followed Canada.
  15. Ever heard of dynamic IPs ? In other words, how most people connect to the net ? Impossible to use your idea.
  16. And the lightbulb and socket work even if you're not married. This has absolutely nothing to do with the meaning of marriage. You're making a tradition a reason. Tradition: getting married before having kid. You turn that into the whole justification for getting married. Are you married ? I am. There's nothing about kids in the vows. Oh and I know you're gonna say it's not just a tradition, that's it's also a rule for some, and that's where we end up back in the religious subject. Except 1) not everyone follows the same religion, if any, 2) even if that's a rule for you, I hope for your sake that there is more meaning than just having a kid in your marriage (whether you're already married or not). What's funny is that this whole discussion has turned into an interpretation of the Bible as a Christian, with total disregard for any other religion that may exist out there. Just one thing, Hannibal, Jehova's Witnesses CALL themselves Christians. I, however, classify them as a sect, since they isolate themselves from those who don't follow their rules, which is the definition of sect. And last time I checked, religions, whatever they may be, weren't about isolating oneself, but on the contrary, about spreading the word and proving their worth by one's actions (well Jehova's witnesses do spread the word I guess. That familiar knock on the door when you least expect them...).
  17. That makes absolutely no sense. No, someone wouldn't have quit anyway if they hadn't got hacked... Jagex doesn't hack accounts. Jesus, people... that's just ridiculous.
  18. Because on-screen keyboards do NOT offer any extra safety. All they do is mimic keyboards and keyloggers sees them just like regular physical keyboards.
  19. How is that different ? Jagex still lost their $5/month from you for 12 months. You've just proved my point. And please don't tell me $60 is nothing to them, because we're talking about more than just you here. Quitting, permanently or for a while, after being hacked, does mean a loss of money for Jagex. Look at the size of the RS population. you assume Im p2p...as I was f2p rsc when that happened Then they lost the little bit of ad money they got off you. The idea of them hacking players is ludicrous.
  20. It adds up quickly. Well I don't see too many rich merchanters posting about getting hacked... I see a lot of "I lost my set of full rune !1". Not everyone, but a lot of it.
  21. I know that's what you said. I wasn't contradicting you. And no, it's not people with rares who get hacked. It's every kind of player. If anything, the ones with valuable items know what they're doing and that they need to protect their accounts.
  22. well its been 6 hours. you fail to remember that its not considered hacking. These items belong to jagex. If people "quit" so what, they always come back...very few people actually quit, I know I didnt. Some times they even leave the player with some items. Like there was one "hacker" who didnt take anything, just logged in and out of someones account. Keep discussing, someone else might have other evidence YOU came back, not everyone else is you. Contrary to what you just said, people do quit after getting hacked. Particularly in your scenario, since the hacked player would have had a bunch of rares. It's easier to start again when you're low-lvl. Not when you had a bunch of rares. Crim_nimora, all they do is keylog (or even guess the passwords).
  23. Link doesn't work, Zonda. Says domain has been registered, that's it.
  24. Domovoi, once per session would be enough. Painy, it will never be hacker-proof. ;) That's why it's always necessary to protect our computers and exercise common sense. The only safe way is to be offline. :)
  25. Gah... then how come the very rich people and the ones with a bunch of rares (they are the players who would affect the economy if stripped of everything) do NOT get hacked ? They tend to know how valuable their account and items are. About point 3, they can just delete the items and post about it. Not through hacking. You fail to remember that a lot of people who get hacked quit. Which means Jagex loses $5 a month from them. They're a company, they care about that more than the RS economy. They don't hack players.
