That doesn't speed anything up, it just saves you space. ;)

He shouldn't even change the password until his computer's clean. What's the point otherwise ? Do not forget an up-to-date antivirus and run a full scan with it first.

Yep Escalus. You said randomized, and that's the key here. If it's unpredictable, it's a lot harder for keyloggers. It's like that idea above to move the keypad numbers around. You never know where the one you need is going to be. gotsol, the problem is that a lot of people have dynamic IP addresses. Mostly dial-up users, but not just them. Even on cable, and even more so on DSL, it can (and usually is) dynamic. It just doesn't change as often. You can go around that by adding the IP range of, say, your whole town or county (depending on how your ISP works), but then you allow a lot more than 5 IPs by doing that. Plus it requires knowledge on the users part. There are also people who switch ISPs. There's those who forget... Finally, and that's what kills it, if someone has a keylogger on his computer, hackers can still change the list of allowed IPs. How ? Well because Jagex would have to provide a way for users to recover the IP list if they forgot to change it and their ISP has changed (or been bought... etc). Just like you can recover an account password. If someone keylogs you and knows all your info, all he has to do is go through the recovery process and allow his own IP. And you're done for.

Either you don't read the whole thread or you choose to ignore what I posted before. There are keyloggers that can follow your mouse. The idea to move the numbers around the screen (or even just a keypad) is good because it would require a keylogger that takes screenshots. There may be one out there (no idea) but it sure isn't as common as the others. Forget mouse or keyboard, this won't solve anything. You need to add another element to it.

They're only a suggestion  Say that to the cop who will one day arrest you, lol... I think we all hate bad drivers. About driving itself, I don't hate anything. Getting a little tired of driving at nights but I don't have much of a choice and it does't bother me that much.

I have a laser one (no, not just optical, but laser) and it's wireless. That's the Logitech one. I had the exact same problem. I updated the driver and the Logitech software and it hasn't happened since.

So the Killzone video was real-time but so intense (calculations) that it only came out at 5 fps ? Then what on earth was the point of it ? What were they thinking ? It doesn't prove much. Admittedly for a console to produce something that good even at only 5 fps is amazing (you'd think it'd calculate something that good-looking at less than one frame per second, so the 5 fps is impressive by itself and does give an indication of how powerful the console is), but 5 fps is not playable material, which is kind of the point of a console, lol.

It's neither nerdy not geeky. It's called learning about products you might buy to make an educated purchase. If everybody did that, a lot of bad products would have been weeded out of the market. And I'm not just talking about consoles.

You guys can't read... some keyloggers can follow your mouse. And if that was introduced, all the hackers out there would start using them.
-
Wrong. Some keyloggers record mouse movements and strokes. As I posted above.

Here's a my suggestion: let's all have a million passwords. That was sarcasm... did it occur to you that if a keylogger records one password, then it will record a second one ? And a third one... and a fourth one... even if the password is given by Jagex, you'd have to type it. So, you get hacked again... And don't start about on-screen keyboards. Most mimic keyboards and a keylogger sees it, just as if it was a physical keyboard. And other keyloggers record mousestrokes and movements. Tthere's no way to prevent hacking other than protecting your computer and using common sense. It's not that hard really.

how to package electronics for shipping...

You may want to put bubbly plastic around the antistatic bag, too. I don't know the proper name for it, but this is a game that's all about popping it :P http://www.miniclip.com/bubblepop.htm Bubblewrap. :) -
It is. Your eyes won't notice the difference, to them everything after 60-80 hertz is a fluid motion. Yep. Even at 25 Hz (PAL TV, 25 images per second - Europe. It's 29.97 in the USA - NTSC) it's fluid. Although the eyes still see a difference up to what Hannibal said because we're able to make a difference between 'how' fluid and smooth it looks... if that makes sense lol.

Can Microsoft Java be installed into Windows XP?
Eric2203 replied to Lil_Flip's topic in Tech and Computers
Actually, they didn't suddenly decide to rid the world of ms java vms. It's only illegal for Microsoft to distribute. The software is still legal and available. Here's a link http://www.softwarepatch.com/windows/javavm.html The software is legal. I was saying distributing it is illegal, whoever does. That's why I didn't post a link. Maybe I'm wrong... -

Eric2203 replied to Lil_Flip's topic in Tech and Computers
Yes you can and make sure to run Windows Update after that. Also make sure to enable it in your Internet Options if you also have the Sun one. As far as a link goes, it's illegal to distribute since Sun won their lawsuit over MS. However, google is your friend. -
In this day and age, all you can find is probably already MPEG4. But there are still older files around which may use MPEG1. Or 2, but I doubt that. Changing the extension doesn't do anything. Media Player looks within the file to find out what codec it needs, regardless of its extension. Best way is to check out the properties of the file when it's playing. It should tell you what codec it's using. Or use a software called GSpot, it tells you what your video file is made of. Sorry, don't have the link handy, but if you look on the website I gave in my previous post above, you should find it.

MP3 conversion is easy. There's tons of software out there that does it. You probably already have one without knowing it. Such as a CD-recording program (though I never looked into getting the MP3s before it burns them). MPG to MP4. First of all, MPEG doesn't say what kind of MPEG standard it's encoded with, it may be 4 already. Second, look on http://www.doom9.org ; it's the movie-making bible. Look into Virtual Dub although I can't remember if it does MP4 without tweaking.

can your Mhz or Ghz be upgraded on ur comp?
Eric2203 replied to Ixl_Jj_Ixl's topic in Tech and Computers
Why, because you can't admit you're wrong ? So you go and flame... Nice attitude there. EDIT: Removed, huh ? Next time I'll quote you so it can't go away. -

Eric2203 replied to Ixl_Jj_Ixl's topic in Tech and Computers
Then say that instead of calling them MHz and GHz. And just so you know, there are/were CPUs at MHz before technology allowed us to go above 1 GHz. MHz and GHz doesn't make us able to guess what you're talking about. -
http://www.pricewatch.com Nothing further to add.

KnightLite, minkis18 was talking about after ww2, not during. And he's right, the USA helped rebuild Europe at great profit to them.

Change the frequency used by the router.

Would help if you said what you plan on doing.

Not only that (what darkrick just posted), Shas_O_Jay, but go explain that to the bullies, who think clothes matter. For a kid to be bullied is traumatic and usually has consequences in life. No I'm not kidding, read up on it. If you're not one of te bullies, good on you. Sadly, a lot are and don't have a clue about money and the fact that namebrand clothes cost a lot. Well they don't have a clue about anything to begin with, since they think clothes matter. It's become such a problem these days that uniforms are looked upon as a very good solution. Minimizes differences, therefore minimizes bullying. Doesn't matter that they're expensive (well it does, but not in that context), the idea is to remove the differences.

Is your DVD drive even listed in My Computer ? The message you mention seems to have come from the BIOS, which means hardware problem. Might have to open it up and check connections if that's the case. If it shows up in My Computer, then that's something else.
