  1. I do admit that I avoid them so that I don't accidentally say something racist that I don't mean.
  2. Why the heck would you want to learn .NET? :-s I would recommend installing WAMP instead of PHP induvidually. http://www.wampserver.com/en/ It includes Apache2, PHP, and MySQL in one simple package. And yeah a stat sig would be too hard to write right away, although with the PHP GD2 extension (Don't worry about installing it, GD2 comes with a standard PHP installation) it definitely isn't complicated. I'm currently making my way, slowly but surely, through the book "PHP Objects, Patterns, and Practice". Even if you know PHP very well I would recommend it, particularly for the (Rather large) section on patterns. I'm also starting with a bit of CLI PHP, but I can't find my PHP excecuteable for the shebang. :x If it isn't in /usr/bin, /bin, or /etc/php5, where would it be? (I'm on Hardy)
  3. All the mods have to know is their way around the MCP. Unlike the crew, who do all the grunt work for the website.
  4. Get Intrepid, they added more wireless support. Strange, it works great for me.
  5. Cross out VB entirely. Remember, real programmers use open source languages. ;) (As in, languages with an open source compiler, such as C/C++, or an open source interpeter, such as PHP). As for a second language Python or C++ would probably be good. I'm currently researching the syntax differences between C and PHP, it's actually very little. And C is the language of choice of the writers of the Linux kernel and GIMP, IE some of my favorite FOS programs, so I'm really interested in learning it.
  6. I like it. My friend's dad is a border patrol agent (funnily enough, his grandparents were illegal immigrants from, I think, Guatemala), and he says they recently busted a heroin ferrying operation near Laredo with this thing's help. That's pretty cool, eh? Busting drug smugglers doesn't sound like such a bad idea, that I would support.
  7. I should have linked to the article as I heard it in the OP, but anyway here it is: http://www.npr.org/templates/story/stor ... =101050132

That sounds nice, I used to do that when I was younger. It's like one, giant hammock lol I've always missed seeing stars in the summer. It is never both warm enough to lie on the trampoline and dark enough to see the stars. Stupid midnight sun lol.
  9. PHP is a server-side hypertext-preprocessor. That means that it makes changes to HTML before it reaches your browser. Python is a more general-purpose code if I understand it right. But if you want to make a stat sig, it would be PHP without a doubt.
  10. What I mean is that the people trying to stop the immigrants aren't the only ones watching. There are people that use the network of cameras to check to see that the coast is clear. By "Unfortunately or not", I mean that it's unfortunate if you are against illegal immigration and not if you're for it for whatever reason.
  11. You can count on any words in square brackets [] being something caused by the censor.
  12. I'm kind of meh about it. It sounds like a hobby a closet racist would have, why can't the border patrol do this themselves? I know it is difficult, but it's their job. They're supposed to be one step ahead of "the enemy", however hard it may be.
  13. I would personally go with PHP. You can start with procedural and advance into object-oriented. It's quite powerful. And it doesn't only run on web servers, there's a CLI version too. Otherwise, I think Python would be a good choice.
  14. Oh wait, FF has a download manager that will plugin to just about anything, including some obscure tools so I'm pretty sure Bittorrent is one of them. It's called Flashgot.
  15. It works both ways, unfortunately or not.

Put it back. Dump your friends.
  17. Not an advertisement. So, while listening to NPR last night they had a talk about what I consider to be a real web gem: http://www.blueservo.net/ What is it? You can watch, in real time, the US border for illegal activity. Seriously. Personally I think it's pretty hilarious, they've apparently got something like 40,000 regular users that watch the border. Quite a bit of marijuana has been seized because of reports from this website. I'm a bit confused as to what to think of it as a whole though. Thoughts? Edit: Here's a link to the article as I heard it: http://www.npr.org/templates/story/stor ... =101050132
  18. Ohoho, yes indeed. Entirely. 2.
  19. Crew > Mods. Totally. Just thought I'd get that in. Five.
