  1. If the first page is erased, the thread should die out. Like I said, I don't read that forum frequently, so you may be right in this case The first page is not erased, because it takes such a long time to write. Then ANYONE should be able to report the topic for spam\flames without the OP having to request a lock. His requesting a lock shouldn't have anything whatsoever to do with the thread actually being locked. If it's breaking the rules for spam\flaming, lock it. If it isn't, don't. Anyone can certainly report the topic for spam or flames. Why shouldn't a lock request have anything to do with it?
  2. I don't frequent that forum, so I wouldn't know, but if it's only a request it should die out easily. I'm afraid they don't. Unless a lock is given by a moderator, requests just keep on coming even to a shop that has "CLOSED" or "LOCKED" in its title. They or someone else could just as easily report the post. There is no situation where the OP's requesting a lock should have any impact whatsoever on the thread being locked. Yes, there are several, in fact. Any topic that causes an unforeseen amount of flaming and spam, for example. (IE just filling up with "Why did you post this?" or people telling the topic author that their opinion is useless or something to that effect.)
  3. The advertising sticky is where we have people put all the stuff we don't want to read. I'm in favor of taking it away and banning advertisements (Except in signatures) altogether, because signatures are seriously the only place people will pay attention to an advertisement.

I think it would be cool to join one, as long as it was in my mother tongue. I don't like debating on forums all that much, about real life issues anyway.
  5. If you keep on top of the latest flash player updates anyway, it's hard to happen. Unfortunately, not everyone does that like me or even has a reason to.

^ No. That will cause a rebellion. The flag should have the Tip.it logo on it, or something reasonable, instead. I'm sure you could get the crew with you there.
  7. Yes, indeed, they should. Little discussion value leads to spam. Flaming is spam. Topic creators have the right to request a lock, which often prevents spam. Topics do not seem to die out on their own here unless the topic wasn't interesting in the first place, most of the time a lock is necessary. I think the mods are doing a great job. As usual I can't speak for the forum staff but that is in my opinion entirely unreasonable. You do not seem to understand the ideas around moderation and banning.

Maybe the crew can come up with a power-sharing agreement with TET, because anything's better than handsome dictators.

Let's see. I'd like to be a member of the island senate.
  10. Chrome is being ported. My guess is that when they port it, they're going to port it properly. Or then there's Chromium.
  11. ^ I think that's a wrong assumption. Moderators are not out to get you. You do not get lucky, exceptions are made if they are fair and well backed.
  12. http://www.havenworks.com/ End of story.
  13. I got a paid job as a web designer a while ago, but I don't think that's much of an option for you... Good luck anyway.
  14. Since you are able to take a screenshot of it, it is a driver issue. That's what I concluded anyway. If all else fails of course you can reinstall Ubuntu. I have gotten similar glitches with compiz-fusion, can't remember what I did to fix it though, sorry.
  15. I've written similar programs in PHP, HTML, Java, C, and JavaScript, I suppose.
  16. I just came up with another one: The night, methinks, is but the daylight sick. :P (A quote from the Shakespeare play "Merchant of Venice")
