  1. 1) Yes and No. Random Battles vs. Random People usually as some sort of showdown. No real rules or anything. It's be nice to see something more solid, though, and im sure you'd find some volunteers. 2) PhotoShop + Pencil Tool. MS-Paint too.. but.. anyways - I think thats the basic limitations. I don't like pixel all that much myself.. and i've only seen very few that I do like. 3) http://forum.tip.it/profile.php?mode=viewprofile&u=12 4) No clue. Don't really care to either. XP 5) Don't think I will. (looks for :ninja: emote.. what!? No :ninja: emote!? Blasphemy!!!)
  2. Oh, the sigs? Yeah, they suck. :P Though my first sig was far.. FAR, worse. Luckily a friend of mine pulled me out of that. It's easy to make abstract backgrounds by just waving the airbrush tool randomly back and forth in PS7+ with some slight changes to brush variables. If you wish to make abstract art in sigs I suggest looking up how to use the airbrush tool. Most benficially the art of making non-random shapes and forms or in other words actually BUILDING your sigs. Don't get into the habbit of making your art random; compose your art. If you do want to accomplish anything sooner or later you'll also need to study realism. I believe my personal favorite art type is surrealism. Gotta love that stuff.. especially with my eccentric nature. Good luck, anyways.
  3. The main difference here in "Render" is not actually the word itself but the word(s) put infront of it. "Artist's Rendition" and "Computer's Rendition"; they may be close in this field, but the two are also very far apart. The lameline is easy to cross and it's up to the artist to figure out how much of the Computer's work should be allowed in their own. Ryan: It might be annoying to see words being used wrongly (You English Nazi), but I believe thats a couple times that i've seen you start arguments over the subject. As shown, render also doesn't exclusivly apply to 'the finished product of 3d work".
  4. My statement still stands; just to say. :roll:
  5. Thats pretty bad. XP Render clouds (by themselves) just don't look good. So far as I see the only "work" you did was to cut and paste the "work" of another independant artist. I don't mind that to a certain extent, but not so much in this case as the other artist's work is the centerpiece. Render? I was under the assumption, in Digital Art, thats what happens when you have your computer 'calculate' how something is going to be through specific scripts.. more appropriatly, in Photoshop, that translates to "filters". Which are generally to be stayed clear of. In something like Lightwave or Maya that represents the process of calculating several elements primarily concerned with the psuedo lighting-effects. It's all subject to relativity, ofcourse.
  6. It would be kinda nice to see a vector trend go about here. These "pixel" sigs are fine, but this place needs a broader horizon. ^_^;;
  7. http://subdivi.deviantart.com - No true deviations to date. The only things I submitted were to test out how things work.
  8. Oh! No! Please! You're killing me with your dastardly devilish generic rhetoric! What-a-world! Im melting! Im melting! I.. oh, no, thats just some sweat.. it's .. uh.. 98 Degree in my room. >.<; As to Queer_Skull - Im just having fun. :3 I tried the whole romantic heart-filled point of view before, but im an aquarius.. so, Sarcastic, Eccentric, and Cynical are my colors.. well.. in a matter of speaking. Short to say, I just laughed at myself by how corny I looked saying such things. You do what you wish and don't let anyone stop you, it's your life whether you make better or make worse. Just wear your hat when it's raining or else you might get attacked by the Lilliputians!
  9. Thanks! That was worth a good laugh. You just made my day! I love seeing goodbye posts geared torward measuring a persons self worth by seeing how many people will miss them.. Especially if they're poorly written! As for your love, it sounds too poetic to me.. kinda makes me litterally sick to the stomach. When people are generally this open with their feelings it's often becasue they need to reassure themselves that they are making the right decision. A blind love nurtured by depression and angst.. it can be a deadly thing, I tell you. As for being a nice guy and portaying yourself as an "a--hole" on here, just contribute that to using the net to hide behind. You can say what you really feel and not care about how it affects people.. or yourself. It's actually common for people to be the opposite of what they are in life while online. I mean.. in life, im a lazy [wagon]... oh.. wait.... nevermind. >.< Sorry, I just wanted to blindly judge someone 'cause im a dirty little monkey. >.> <,<
  10. Heros work, yes, but not enough to pick up readers if you're a single person working on a web-manga with -another- "fantasy-feudal-era-japan-ish" setting thats about as exausted as the WWII era is in the gaming industry. If you need to pick up readers on a low budget, you have to bring a new flavor to the table. If you want to keep the same old dish, use a different set of spices. The real problem you're going to have is telling a story with your images. It's harder than it sounds. Especially for a person like me who constantly fights the urge to post in saturated details.
  11. Just a word of advice: Do something original. XP The hero story isn't going to cut it.. why not try a villain story? Maybe make the main character a falcon.. or some other animal. The more original it is, the more people will like it. :3
  12. I get the jist of what hes saying. I've even drawn (partial) contours with my eyes closed - and then go back and refine it to where I can settle. I pretty much never use vector in digital paintings because sometimes it's the minor flaws that give things the most character. Took me a long time to learn that though. :?
  13. I like.. uh.. arial? Bit fonts if im working small.. otherwise just using arial and modified arial. If I really needed an 'out there' font i'd make my own letters with a vector program. :roll:
  14. Nope, nothing that i'd call 'work' posted here; just some random crap. Im actually rereading a few of Loomis's books right now, funny you should mention it, and FDFAIW is one of those. Primarily because I recently got ahold of a archive file with all of his major books in PDF format. Right now im working on the same thing I always have trouble with. Organic perspective, weight displacment, and muscle structure.. , and my constant struggle with skin tones.
  15. I've never used dual monitors myself.. seemed like a waste; atleast for what I do. I prefer to work from visual memory. Sort of build a digital model in my mind and then draw from there.. though it's harder than it sounds.. atleast it was for me when learning how.
  16. Couldn't you just tweak the mapping? XP
  17. I would hate having to use bigger than 6*8. My strokes are generally small.. and I prefer to use my wrist, and not my elbow when drawing. ^ ^; Like I said, you should get one that fits your stroke size. Oh. and it took me around 3 weeks to get used to mine. It's easier if you go from pencil to tablet as opposed to mouse to tablet. It's not meant to be a "better mouse", it's supposed to be a digital pencil. XP
  18. I bought myself an Intuos3 6*8. My mother calls it "The expensive magnadoodle".
  19. "Bigger" isn't always "Better"; it depends on your stroke length really. You can't go wrong with 80 bucks if you like art in the least bit.. unless the thing just sucks all to hell. Personally, I couldn't do without mine. =P Digital painting is a horrid pain in the [wagon] without one.
  20. Too cute. ToT Not exactly the most impressive thing i've seen, but it fits to what I like - the eccentric.
  21. I never understood why you used these renders. ^^;; I think it'd be much more fun if you went out and took some photographs or something. XP
  22. I only use anything aside from hard elliptical brushes if im texturing. It's like trying to catch a baseball - if you run too far in at once on a high-fly you'll probably miss it - so you watch it closely and run in only as much as you need to. Anyways, I just dropped in to to pay t3 some props for getting away from his cartoonish nature slowly but steadily. If I ever do any sketchwork aside from hand-control exercises I know where to post them. XP
  23. I started by making lines and circles with a pencil - then went from circles to more advanced shapes. Building skills from the bottom up is the best way.. everything else is just a hinderance to me.
  24. Yep, as usual with these competitions im guessing this is dead. ^ ^;
