Today I drove a car for the first time (and I'm 19 lol). Not nearly as terrifying as I would have imagined - it was actually pretty fun. The sensitivity of the steering wheel is hard to get used to but I didn't hit anything.
  2. I understand your point: In other words, we all have a lot to learn throughout our lives, we'll always be seeing new things, our opinions and perspectives will change, etc. However, this is true for everyone, regardless of how old you are. Also, most of my post was just pointing out the difference between physical and psychological maturity.
  3. I hope you're talking about physical maturation then. There is a type of maturity that doesn't really have to do with age and has everything to do with actions (or better yet - how others perceive those actions [since this type of maturity is subjective]). I can consider it immature for an old man to play pranks on children. I could consider it mature for a little kid to save up enough money for his mother's operation. Maturity Maturity is a psychological term used to indicate that a person responds to the circumstances or environment in an appropriate and adaptive manner. This response is generally learned rather than instinctive, and is not determined by one's age. Maturity also encompasses being aware of the correct time and place to behave and knowing when to act appropriately, according to the situation. I'm not even going to bother arguing over this part of your post. That's how ridiculous it is. Also, about you saying you're one of the most mature people on this forum... this is exactly my point. People like you think "maturity" is just a free handout that you can just sit on your butt all day and eventually achieve because you merely got older. Maturity is something to be earned. I sure as hell have seen a lot of immature grown people. It really pisses me off how pretentious people get with their age - and how straight-up wrong they are. "I'm the teacher - you're a student, therefore I'm right!" This is a cop-out.

I said before that those words are a little harsh. It comes down to the idea that we are responsible for what we do, unless you really believe that we are puppets to our biologies and nobody should ever be blamed for anything ever. The collectivity of your biology, experiences, opinions, etc. are all what make up you. In saying, "That guy is a bitter man," even though he went through the horrors of Vietnam, you're still right in saying he's a bitter man. I love suicide debates. It always comes down to playing the blame game and talking about how suicidal people apparently have no control over themselves. (Oh yeah, saying that will make things better.) Of course there are justifiable reasons for committing suicide. But the bad reasons outweigh the good reasons, by far.

You're right - they have. They've also been linked to the point of view of the person (religion, perspective on life/death, self-esteem) which are subject to change when the brain receives certain stimuli (being talked out of it, enlightening influences). --- Bento, sorry, I was confusing your points with Dan's.

That belief is pretty much synonymous to "Nobody ever changes their minds." I speak from experience, that this is not true. Not only that, but some people have attempted suicide, failed, and then have been talked out of having suicidal tendencies. But hey, believe whatever you want. This is exactly my point. Discouraging suicide is the first step. Yes, the logical thought process that brings you to this "solution". --- Bentomat, you really need to make up your mind. Either suicide is the logical solution to having problems with achieving happiness or it isn't. I truly dislike the pro-suicide seminar. By telling them, "it's not their fault ," you're doing the opposite of discouraging it. In fact, you're the ones making them feel more hopeless. I seem to be the only one fighting the idea of giving up on life, and saying that there is hope.
  7. Okay then, what exactly inspired you to label the entire forum (excluding no one) mentally challenged based off of one thread that only about 2-3% of the entire forum even posted in?
  8. I live in the south and I understand exactly how ridiculous people get over football. It's a good thing to be passionate about competition and pushing yourself towards glory, but when people are going to be a bunch of monkeys about it, nothing good comes from it.
  9. Yeah, I miss dance too. It was one of the best ones.
  10. That was the part about it I hated the most. PS: Is it just me or does Vampires Suck look even worse than Twilight? I didn't think it was possible. :ohnoes:
  11. At first I thought this was pretty controversial, but then I remembered my opinion on clothing. I walk around in Microsoft shirts, heavy metal shirts, preppy shirts, gangster shirts, etc. I'm not really affiliated with the majority of what's in my wardrobe though. It's just a means to an end. People simply take it too seriously, as if it's completely representative to your character or something. Narrow minded bugs. :)
  12. ^^ Lol. Yeah, pretty much my reaction too. Sounds really funny if you're not English  Also the text of "Shot Rat" under the guy's picture is hilarious I also found the dialect to be hilarious. It's making me consider visiting England for some entertaining conversations.
  13. Didn't you just say, like yesterday, that it's dumb to say someone "isn't thinking" just for having differing opinions?
  14. It turns me on when they wear Mithril Plateskirts. Mmmmmm.
  15. Just for that, I'm going to bring up Runescape on here every time I get the opportunity. :notalk:
