Best Song Covers EVER!
That cover sucks...I swear, compared to the original song, it totally sucks. Never meant to be metalfied. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bQtlrBziyzI I don't think Saxophones are meant to be turned into guitars...That's just my opinion though... OH! I can't believe this one wasn't mentioned: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OxVBXE8FmpA Disturbs cover of Land of Confusion Also... In Flames cover of Land of Confusion. The man can't sing but the guitar is full of win. [yt]fWiV7866Efk[/yt] For reference: [hide=Genesis' original version][yt]oepXF2B5NK4[/yt][/hide]

"I want a girlfriend/boyfriend", and other such relationship advice
So I have decided it is time to tell my story to TIF. I am a sopomore (10th grade) this year. I have never gone out with anyone ever. There's two guys I like and we'll get into the details in a bit. The only thing is that I never have been and won't be a particularly 'girly' girl. I mean I wear guy's shorts (and shoes, and socks.) and I play hockey, I'm a total tomboy and would fit in that category of art freak/indy kid. I sort of told a good friend of mine that I would go to the homecoming dance this year so she could do my hair. However the dance is in 3 weeks and I would need to acquire a dress. Okay. The first kid I like, I'll call him Andrew. I've known him since I moved into the district 8 years ago. We were really good (like best friends) for five ish years with another kid. In jr. high we sort of drifted a little bit but we're still friends. I've pretty much had a crush on him since I met him. In jr. high and freshman year, two of the friend groups sort of mixed together and I became good friends with 'Sam' and 'Joan'. Sam and I think exactly alike, and he's a great friend. Joan and I have the same views on life and lots of the same ideas and random craziness. In 8th grade Joan had a long relationship with Andrew, but they broke up in the beginning of freshman year. Sam took Joan to homecoming freshman year and they went out until around January (Joan broke up with him because 'she didn't want to be attached to a person for so long'). I'm sure Sam still likes Joan, and possibly also likes me. I like him but there's sort of an unspoken agreement between us that a relationship wouldn't work out. Andrew hasn't gone out with anyone since and also hasn't come to any of the dances. Sam only comes to the dances because he's on student council. After reading my ramble if you could offer some thoughts on how to let people know I am open to a relationship or idk. I would ask one of them out. but again that's really strange for me.

Today...
Got my schedule today, it was better than I expected because I though I would have to sit in the counselor's office forever waiting to change my schedule... My course list is a little odd for a sophomore but it's good. Jazz Band, Pre-Calc, English 10, Basic Art, World History, Physics 1, German 2, and Nutrition for this semester. My ID pic is crap, the glare off my retainer makes it look like I have stuff on my teeth. Although I found out that my school changed their contract to Coke instead of Pepsi. No more Diet Mountain Dew for me at school.

Taxes, taxes, taxes...
After a while, it will. As has been proposed somewhere, if they levy additional taxes on the rich to pay for other stuff, they'll eventually be losing so much of their income that they will no longer be motivated to be wealthy. Accountants, foreign bank accounts, etc. is what I meant with that phrase.

National Healthcare. What do you think of it?
(sort of being on the same side as Me Hate Libs I'll chuck my opinion in) and this isn't going to be entirely about healthcare, also about taxes and crap. The government needs to get the hell out of everybody's lives. The only reason a federal government should exist is to provide a military power and a common 'state' (so Texas doesn't declare war on Oklahoma and random crap like that, so there's not 50 individual countries). They don't need to be providing for everyone. If they want to do good for people, lower tuition, lower taxes on people, reduce malpractice suits by limiting what can be sued for and how much you can get, which in turn lowers doctor's malpractice insurance, which lowers their costs which means they charge less. Force drug companies to offer a cheaper alternative or have a prescription payment assist program (most do) (the only reason they charge so much is so they can continue research). Have a state-run health care program run by EDUCATED and PROFESSIONAL people which is a buy-in program and optional. You get what you pay for in this case. Have a discounted version available as a 'pay as you can afford it' sliding scale which covers doctor visits and emergency care. Have an additional program to cover children and old folks (again on a sliding scale, although it only covers under 18s and over 60s) Create an incentive for insurance companies to cover people and negotiate cooperatives for people who have a certain condition (asthma, diabetes) and buy the drugs they need at a discount in large amounts so it's cheaper for them if they choose not to get additional insurance. The co-op would negotiate special-care doctors and such contracts for the members. Have a state sales tax of 15% (ish not sure on that) which would support (state-run institutions) public fire, police, and roads, etc. Lottery tickets would go to the schools (as they apparently mostly do already). Levy an additional tax on tobacco and alcohol of 10% or so which would go into running the discounted insurance programs. Abolish any and all income taxes, capital gains taxes, etc. The only tax would be a flat sales tax of 15% and a tax on alcohol and tobacco of an additional 10%. States could change this flat tax rate as needed based on their population. If I forgot something, please tell me.

Taxes, taxes, taxes...
Something you people need to understand, and that the US government needs to understand: Rich people have money. Money enables them to start businesses and offer jobs to other people. In turn this gives more people more money. Rich people continue to have money because their businesses make money. Rich people are usually smart (enough to have invested/had an idea to make the money) and can and will attempt to defeat the (usually excessive) taxation of their wealth. If the government attempts to tax rich people more, they have less incentive to continue gaining money and less incentive to attempt (ie, hire employees and create businesses) to create more money. Rich people will hoard their money and will not contribute to society if there is 'no point' (ie they are taxed excessively) to make more money by contributing to society. Wealthy people have money, which enables them to create jobs, which enables more people to better themselves and creates more cashflow in the economy. Rich -> Jobs -> Money -> Economy To the FairTax (which so far I agree with, 23% is a little steep, but no IRS/SS/Medicaid/income taxes might make it worth it) Rich people have more money, so they spend more. In spending more, they are taxed more (but at an equal rate) than the less wealthy. Government still gets their money, rich are more apt to give it.
