Help with a way to remotely fix/operate a pc!
Or you can use a program like TeamViewer (which is free for personal use, not companies) for which neither of you need a MSN account, you just need the access codes that you see when you open the program. This way you can remotely control her computer while still explaining what you do on the phone. Or I've once used skype with my parents sharing their screen and explaining them what to do while seeing what they were doing.

New rig for BF3
Even then, Even if the Intel processors are much more performant doesn't make the AMD processors bad. People who want to spend less will go with AMD and AMD will still be a good choice.

New rig for BF3
I don't know why so many people think AMD processors are that bad. Ok, their architecture is dated, but that doesn't mean the processor isn't good.

Which OS to use?
Really depends on what you plan to do. I personally know that I will be formatting my computer and probably going back to the first Linux distro I used which is Ubuntu. Currently on Windows 7 but I'm not a computer gamer anymore. Just a shame that on my laptop though Ubuntu doesn't support the wireless card.

Jagex - Bot Busting
They've been doing it for years with p-mods. Nothing new, just the first time they publish it, probably for show.

Get the new Firefox 4 today
I, too, was not happy that they removed the status bar, but at least they have an add-on bar that goes there. Still sucks though.

SOLVED - OS-controlling Virus
I'd go with Nyosuht's advice if I were you. It's their fault for not listening to you anyways. Losing stuff is just the lesson that hits them harder that they shouldn't go to dodgy websites.

SOLVED - OS-controlling Virus
Use your other computer to download and put on a usb key an antivirus like Avira and an antimalware like Malwarebytes. Then go to the infected computer on safe mode and install those, and if you have a safe mode with networking you can update them. What safe mode does is that it only uses the usefull programs to Windows. which means the virus shouldn't be active.

I haven't used Widnows XP in the last 3 years so I'm not too familiar with it anymore, but I will see if I can find something on it (or even install on a virtual machine to test a few things).

How do you know /for sure/ that a computer is clean?
Never use 2 antiviruses at the same time, they will conflict. Now an Antivirus and an AntiMalware is different, which means that it's safe to have MSE and Malwarebytes installed at the same time.

How can I download a video from Internet?
Description says that he wants for other video than youtube. The download helper add-on for firefox that has already been mentionned is perfect, though.

China > America
Yes, I have a GM vehicle. Unfortunately, it's not a everyday good as I don't buy cars in frequency. If they'd make longer lasting cars I'd probably buy one. For now, I'm good with my 10 year old toyota Echo that has 300 000 km 2 accidents and has never broke down, and that I put almost nothing in repairs. Hell, it still has the original clutch. I have yet to see an american car do this.

Mac or PC?
It's easy to see why Apple has less repairs to make, and it's as simple as uniform hardware. What I mean by that is that they all have the same hardware, which means that there isn't any driver issues with them, which is probably one of the main causes of problems on Linux and Windows machines. They just have so many parts to support..

Internet Explorer 9 (Out Now) vs Fire Fox Version 4 (Still In Devlopment)
That's a broken link, well at least for me.

I thought the better hard disk brand were Seagate and Western Digital, would seagate have fallen like that?

Mac or PC?
Yes, Dell is a the bottom, which is why I always strongly recommend against Dells and Strongly for Asus, owning an Asus laptop and 2 desktops that have multiple Asus parts in them.

Laptops?
hmmm, that's the first time I have ever seen a board with all three slots. Curious, where did you find this picture? In response to the thread though, DVI and HDMI carry the same electrical video output by design - a 2 dollar physical adapter is all that is necessary to convert between the two. I don't know where he took the picture, but I do know that a lot of motherboards had all of them when the transition was being made between AGP and PCI-e for video cards.

Mac or PC?
You keep saying 'macs are good, you just have to have used one', yet you never add any substance to this argument at all >.< Please, explain, I'm curious to know. Macs are overpriced, just look at the Mac Pro. They're quite hard to crash them. They boot up very quickly. Hardly ever have any hickups with any software. They're reliable and do not slow down over time. The hardware and OS are designed and built specifically to work together right out of the box. If drivers need to be updated it's all done for you. It's a simpler computing experience all together. 2 years ago I couldn't see a reason to spend the extra money on the mac either. But ever after spending as much on my windows machine as I did the macbook pro it still locks up and freezes sometimes. The mac doesn't. It's about the ease of use and expeience when you're at school in class. You can't afford for something to freeze up just before class and have to reboot. My Windows/Linux based computer compares to that and cost me much less than a Mac. Hell, my 3 year old Asus laptop boots faster than my friend's 2 year old Mac laptop, and they have similar specs. My laptop cost me $1300 CAD while my friend's Mac cost him around $2000 CAD. Also, since installing Windows 7 on my laptop, it has never crashed even though there are no Windows 7 drivers available on Asus' website and still runs fast as new. I went to college and completed a course to become a programmer. Everyone except 1 person had Windows based laptops (the Mac person still used windows on his), and it only happened once that a computer froze, and it was because of the Mac's bootcamp bug, close to the release date of Windows 7. Also, to whoever said he's never seen a windows computer older than 2 years still running fast, my 5 year old Windows Vista desktop (Which came with XP but was Vista capable, as Vista wasn't out yet) still runs very fast.

Mac or PC?
Using IE is a reason in itself is a reason for it to crash, we all know that it is absolute crap, why do you think that nowadays so few people use it? And I don't know if Windows crashes lots because it only crashed once in 1 year for me. And it was because of one of the cheap RAM sticks that I had initially bought. I have received my new RAM anyway and will be putting it in the computer soon. Also, on virus dicussion, I don't know why we would need an antivirus on Windows if we have common sense. Even though I still keep an antivirus and antimalware on my computer, I have never got a virus/malware in the last 3 years by simply not going to dodgy websites.

Mac or PC?
Dells are still pretty slow. My Intel Core i3 (dual core) desktop with 6GB of RAM I built this time last year is much faster than the 6 month old Dell with i5 and 8GB of RAM that I use at work. And for the slowness, no I don't think the network would be a cause since it's only connected to the network for the Internet. Also, I have 3TB of hard drive while the computer at work has 1TB.

Mac or PC?
The new HP models are pretty good though, unlike even just 1 year ago. I think they cost less than Dells as well.

Annoying java issue
Tried with Firefox 4 and I have no problems. Those black screens is a known problem to Jagex. Wether they are working on them or not, I have no idea.

Mac or PC?
Lol, HP. Let's say that I don't know what they do to Windows, but they always have problems on their Windows installations. Top notch hardware, there is top notch hardware in other brands as well, such as Asus. And they charge you when you call M$? Never knew that. Also, why are you avoiding the Linux discussion, doesn't cost anything to upgrade, and same with the programs. Also, there is no Apple stores where I live so it would still cost me upwards of $100 to have service, just like the Windows based computers, but that's the price of not having good computer shops around, which is why I built my computer myself this time last year.

Mac or PC?
I've never had any issues on Windows or Linux based computers, why would I pay more for a Mac?
