  1. They both have a long ways to go to surpass Opera. ;) And yes, whether anyone likes it or not, Internet Explorer has the majority market share of all browsers right now, and as such this is fairly important to post in the most populated forum. However, I'd do the same for Firefox 4; maybe Opera 10. Yay opera!! I tried Opera 10 Alpha and got no problems (using atm) I'd like to see full release if it's good at alpha :D OT: Interesting.... I'm install it to see if SK go any faster. Opera 10 is going to be the god of web browsers... passing the Acid3 test at 100% score. But let's try to keep this topic mostly to IE8, hm? ;)

  3. As of today, Thursday, March 19, 2009, Internet Explorer 8 has been released. Click to download Whether or not you use Internet Explorer as your main browser, it is tied to the operating system and as such, I would encourage all users to upgrade as soon as possible as Internet Explorer 8 introduces a number of security and compatibility upgrades. You can download the new version of the browser from Microsoft's website by clicking the large IE icon above and clicking the orange button labeled "Download Now" on the left side of the screen. This is not an advertisement as Tip.It staff have posted software updates from Microsoft on the forums numerous times before, and I would encourage a Tip.It moderator to turn this topic into a global sticky. Thanks.
  4. Wednesday, March 18, 2009 Added Goblin statue (level-50) Added H.A.M. agent Walton (level-50) Added Ork statue (level-63) Added Ogre statue (level-75) Added Sigmund (level-75) Added Zanik (level-75) Added Bandos avatar (level-125) Added Ourg statue (level-200) Also, don't worry, I haven't forgotten about: WGS "three guards" (likely the level 95 Elite Khazard guards) Mercenary axeman (level-88) Mercenary mage (level-48) Skeleton (level-92) with 70 HP Guardian of Armadyl (level-57) These things take time, but hopefully you'll see those 4 on the list some time in the future. I didn't add them to the existing-but-don't-have-yet list for my own reasons, although I should... I'll just keep reminding myself in my replies, but I just wanted to make sure you know I haven't forgotten them. Also, Leon and the Ghoul MAY not be unscannable... one thing I was unable to try was dropping runes after fighting one monster that allows them, in the arena, and then challenging Ghoul/Leon and picking them up in the arena after. This means I need to get the last 7 scrolls on Jard Y Dooku and 3 on my noob account to complete the guide, which takes time I don't have. I will get it to 100% some day...
  5. The last one was the penultimate one.
  6. Yeah, I felt something aswell. : This. The storyline really was epic. About time someone erected a statue of me, too.
  7. If only alching scythes and bunny ears made them go away permanently.
  8. Yes, that is exactly what I am talking about!
  9. I don't know about that... Achievements are in the eye of the beholder. Some would argue that amassing 300mil and being able to buy a Blue Phat is an achievement of some sort. You don't see it that way. Some would say that simply buying a skill is not an achievement, but obviously you see it that way. See what I'm getting at? I mean achievement in a different definition. Completing quests and gaining skills advances your account... your character, while rares are simply a possession and do not really "add" anything to your account. I guess what I'm getting at is the difference between permanent and impermanent achievements. I can do all the quests, get all the skills to 99, get all the music, and have them forever. A party hat, I can lose at any time.
  10. Thank goodness =D> Yep, sigged.
  11. A pumpkin and party hat, because then I could sell the worthless pieces of cabbage and get some more 99 capes. i think i understand why we dont see eye to eye, i dont have much respect for buyable skills. anything buyable is boring, thats why rares arnt special, you are strongly into buying skills though like 99 prayer lmfao. not like i care much though. I'm into skills period, because they are achievements. Rares aren't game achievements, they're items.
  12. What the hell is it with you people insulting Communism all the time?
  13. Fally general store for one. warriors guild No. -1 = Underwater level (minimum) 0 = Main level >=1 = Upper levels There's nothing below -1 and I think the maximum upper level is 4 (that actually has anything). As far as technical limitations I don't think it has a limit but it might.
  14. Use your own server, then. -.-
  15. How are you supposed to reverse engineer Runescape legally when buried in the Terms and Conditions that no-one reads that you agree to in order to play is a waiver stating explicitly that you agree not to reverse engineer Runescape :?: Is my English that bad? Maybe it's just too small; here I'll enlarge it for you: I challenge one of you to reverse engineer an obfuscated Java program (which you have the legal rights to do so Please show me exactly where in that sentence fragment I said "RuneScape". I also wrote a program to check if the strings "an obfuscated Java program" and "RuneScape" are equal. The program says they aren't, so I believe it. As far as I'm aware, RuneScape is not the only existing Java program in the world, and "an obfuscated Java program" could obviously refer to any of millions of existing ones.
  16. Didn't I mention that earlier? ;)
  17. Please don't spread lies. It's actually extremely difficult to find a private server that IS laced with trojans or other malware. I have never, ever, ever, even heard of one. Please don't post information which you have no knowledge of. I'm not saying private servers are OK, but just because you don't like something doesn't mean that you should spread lies about it, nor should you speak about something you have no knowledge of. --- Also, it seems there are a fair amount of people with programming experience who play with private servers. I think that "people who fail at the real game can do what they want without putting any work into it." is EXTREMELY inaccurate, as I doubt any of YOU have put in the time or have the dedication required to learn computer science - and unlike getting good at a computer game, that has real-world benefits. Being both a computer scientist and a very high level RuneScape player, I certainly have a place to speak here. Sure, there's a lot of idiots who also play with private servers, and don't know what a main method is, but there are plenty who do know what they're doing. I challenge one of you to reverse engineer an obfuscated Java program (which you have the legal rights to do so; I need to say this before someone misinterprets me and gets all: *makes girly screaming noise*) and modify it to suit your likings. Also, it costs money to sue people. This is why Jagex doesn't bother. Please, learn something before posting about it.
  18. By that logic, we might as well destroy everything that's over 20 years old =\ Hell, what does that 3300 year old Mummy do to contribute to ANYTHING worthwhile? I mean, it's not like it's doing anything useful, right? We'd better destroy it because it's so pointless. It's just sitting there... /sarcasm Why are you dragging RSC into this? This has nothing to do with that, we're talking about untradable holiday items, are we not? The difference is that RuneScape is a computer program. Mummies are kept because as humans, we want to learn about our history, and one way to do that is to find and preserve old things, because we CAN'T make new ones. RuneScape is a computer program. A law rune created 5 years ago and a law rune created today differ in no way. The system is TIMELESS. You can recreate any item regardless of when it originated. THAT is the difference. Sorry, but bad example. Holiday items started in RSC. So it makes sense RSC is falling into the discussion slightly.
  19. From your attitude, it seems like you're the one who doesn't have a Scythe. FYI, I hated RSC and was very relieved when RS2 was released. I wish they would delete it already. It's an old crusty piece of software and I refuse to log on to it because it would be a waste of my time and is pointless. Gaining XP in RSC does nothing for my MODERN character. It doesn't have half the map area that RS2 does. It doesn't have many of the skills RS2 does, most of which are my favorites. It also looks extremely stupid; I know it's ten years old so I can't really blame Andrew, but it's 2009 now, not 1999, so we have no need to play it, remember it, or think about it. It's NOT a different game, it's an older version of the current one and has no use. It is frustrating that they don't treat it as such. Keeping old things around is nonsense behavior. And to the comment about the stamps, they ARE worthless. Why? They are broken. The printing machines were oriented incorrectly. The stamps should have been destroyed before they were ever released (no one noticed?), or been recalled. Hanging on to old things does nothing good. For example Japan has had digital TV and broadband Internet connections for I think around 20 years now, yet in the "great United States" there are still loads of people with dial-up connections, and their president recently delayed the switch over to digital TV for a few more months to cater to some idiots who've had YEARS AND YEARS to prepare. What's the use in that? Now hopefully you can see the relation to my post from that last paragraph. You keep whining that I am complaining about holiday items because I don't have them. That is untrue. What frustrates me is STUPID THINGS. Discontinued holiday items are STUPID THINGS. I am not American, I don't like America, and I'll be glad to leave here soon. I don't even watch TV. However it FRUSTRATES me that the American president delays the switchover to digital TV to cater to a few incompetent people who won't upgrade their TVs, because it is stupid. That's their problem if they can't watch their TV. They can go buy a converter box. Yet you complain Jagex isn't going to listen to the "20 people" who want holiday events changed. Well, the American president seems to be catering to the 1% of idiots who have had MORE THAN ENOUGH time to prepare for the switchover, so I don't see why Jagex wouldn't cater to a small percentage of the RuneScape population that dislikes holiday events, which may be and probably is lot a bigger percentage that you or even I expect.
  20. A pumpkin and party hat, because then I could sell the worthless pieces of cabbage and get some more 99 capes.
  21. Godsword noobs are the worst one from my view. I stand at edge bank, and someone says "Sir" and i am thinking "This guy must have something good to say.." and then person asks: GOT A GS?! I was mostly speaking in jest because that PARTICULAR LEVEL 128 is one of my close friends. However I agree that players randomly asking to borrow godswords from people they don't even know (unless they're renting, e.g. for payment) is unethical. I have no objections to asking strangers for small items when on quests, however. I've frequently asked and been asked for things like hammers, pickaxes, etc., when questing with other players. But we're getting a little off topic, I am mainly asking why we're mean to noobs without provocation, not to those who deserve it, which encompasses all levels.
  22. Jard_Y_Dooku replied to a post in a topic in General Discussion
It's definitely easier to start over with previous experience. I'd definitely recommend doing a LOT of quests so you can get the XP rewards. Better yet, go for a quest cape as this will not only give you a goal but will also raise your stats somewhat subconsciously. And try to behave this time around, eh? ;) Off topic, @Zierro: I have one thing to say about your avatar: ".......................... -.-"
  23. I don't think asking questions warrants ridicule, because simply asking questions seems to be what 'noobs' mostly do. Yes, there are beggars, yes there are spammers, but they are the minority and are not necessarily low level. I've seen plenty of idiots of all levels going "@@@@@@@@@" in the Soul Wars waiting rooms and know a PARTICULAR level 128 player who often begs me and another particular level 136 to borrow our godswords. He shall be known only as "C". ;)
  24. Why are we mean to noobs? Your first question probably is "what do you mean, Jard?". Well, I'm sure you've all heard the popular (stupid) saying "everyone higher level than you has no life, and everyone lower than you is a noob". The first part is obviously just plain stupidity and jealously, but I'd like to talk about the second part. Now, first of all I'd like to say that I'm level 136 combat with around 2050 total levels, so I certainly am in the place to talk about this. Higher levels do not make you a better person, they do not make you 'elite' as far as your position in society goes, but why do we treat this as such? 'Noobs' or 'newbs' are looked down upon in the MMO culture, but I seriously can't understand why we (not me) are mean to them? Every single one of us was a 'noob' at one point, and we should be helping them rather than being rude to them, demeaning them, laughing at them and telling them how we're better than they are and they are horrible. Take this for example. Posts like this frustrate me: Subject: I made my first milliion gold! Well, not me. If the topic wasn't locked, this was my intended message: People need to be nicer. Just because 1 million coins might not be that big of a deal to you or me, it is to the OP, so let him enjoy it and congratulate him. We were all there once and he's obviously progressing in the game, so encourage him to continue that rather than the opposite. I think rudeness is less prevalent in Tip.It than on the RSOF and such, but I'm mostly talking about it in the game and baalby5's post was just an example. I have plenty of low level players on my friends list. They are people just like you and I. Just because they don't have as much experience in the game YET doesn't mean we should treat them like rotten cabbage. It's much better to give someone a kind word and encouragement, and maybe a few tips, than to be mean to them. A lot of players seem to choose their friends by their levels, but my fingers go no to my mouse to check their combat level, but to the keyboard to see if they are an intelligent, friendly person who I can have a conversation with. If they're a low level and hav typen habets liek dis n talk n 1337sp34k n st00f then I'd rather not talk to them - but the same would go for a level 138 acting in that way. I'll end with this: be nice to newbs! Discuss...
  25. Talking about me? If so, I sold my collection a while back. :) Pretty sure I told you. --- OT: Don't you people get it? JAGEX IS NEVER MAKING MORE DISCONTINUED ITEMS. Honestly. They HATE the damn things as much as I do and there will NEVER be more of them. Quit doing incompetent things like buying axe heads and handles... jeez. There are two things on Tip.It that frustrate me to the max: 1. Peoples' ignorance in regards to computers, I've seen many stupid things said on these forums, and many are security-related. 2. The fact that a lot of people think ANY item will EVER be 'discontinued' in the same way that party hats are. NOT GOING TO HAPPEN. Jagex hates them; making more discontinueds is about as likely as the return of the wilderness.
