Homosexuality in RuneScape
both sentences deliver the same meaning. 2+2=4 1+3=4 they are different ways of getting there. either way, the end result is the same. I think you should try multiplying some matrices instead. Now I will repeat: if you can't be polite, get off my thread. Heterosexual people are no more "civilized" than homosexuals. (Also, might I mention the Crusades...?) Homosexuality may be "wrong and unnatural", but you need to realize science actually AGREES with you on that, yet you're bashing the scientists on "making up excuses". It is not a preference or choice. Nature intended for males and females to be sexually attracted to each other. Males and females have compatible sexual reproductive organs that are used to continue survival of the species... [hide=If you are male, click here]When you look at beautiful girls, and see their breasts, etc... I'm sure you can FEEL the attraction to females. You can't just change that feeling by saying "hey today I'm going to decide I like guys", it's embedded in you.[/hide] [hide=If you are female, click here]When you look at hot/cute/whatever guys, and see their penises, etc.... I'm sure you can FEEL the attraction to males. You can't just change that feeling by saying "hey today I'm going to decide I like girls", it's embedded in you.[/hide] There is far too much logical and scientific evidence to show that sexual orientation NOT being a choice, and debating that fact is useless. It's like trying to say that the world is flat. "They" aren't making fake satellite images to try and fool us into that.

You could be more polite when doing so. Instead of: consider: If you'd said it like the second way, no one would have complained. But you acted rudely. No one wants to stop you from expressing your views and opinions, but we want you to do so in a polite and respectful manner... do you understand what I am saying?

What is the cost of a F2P server?
True but I'm sure they get discounts since they always have 4 or more in one locations. Probably, but this isn't a website server - this is a game server, undoubtedly requiring top end power to manage 2,000 clients simultaneously. All drop\hit generation as well as running\movement AI for NPCs and players is handled by the server; it's far more then "run this ASP page". Jagex doesn't use ASP anyways, it's probably JSP; perhaps Perl and/or PHP. I love how people think the server sends 3d models and other content large in size constantly, it's so entertaining to read their posts. Besides, Jagex fails at web design anyways. :P http://validator.w3.org/check?uri=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.runescape.com%2Ftitle.ws&charset=(detect+automatically)&doctype=Inline&group=0&user-agent=W3C_Validator%2F1.654 Why even bother to put a DOCTYPE if you're not going to validate against it?! They should be using XHTML 1.1 anyways. *goes off grumbling how 95% of the web developers in the world should be banned from computers until they learn better*

Homosexuality in RuneScape
Yes we DO have to do it, we are animals too. We're talking about strict science here, not philosophical opinions on choice, that's for another debate. Also, homosexuality has been observed in the animal kingdom; please do research before posting. That's an excuse for having been proven wrong; no offense, but it's used very often by people who can't think of a good comeback. If you are familiar with Wikipedia's system, you'll notice all the little [##] scattered around the facts I posted. This shows that the information was cited from reliable sources which you are free to check for yourself by clicking on them... It has nothing to do with teaching anything or pushing ideas. You cannot consciously choose your sexual orientation. Well as you said before, you believe that there is something in their genetics as proven by science, but not everyone believes that, but that is another debate for another time. But if Jagex were to do this, they would be pushing the message for gay marriage and saying that everyone should support it, but not all parents think that way. Therefor, the parents should be able to discuss this matter, (gay marriage), with their children as they wish. I am a man of science and logic, not opinion. There are proven biological differences between heterosexuals and homosexuals. I think the most reason people think it is a choice is because their religion tells them so, or because homosexuals do not want to feel that they are "incorrect"... but people with disabilities do just fine. Stephen Hawking is almost fully paralyzed, but he doesn't go around trying to convince people that he is "normal". All this debate on whether it's biologically set, or a choice, stems from mental insecurity. We should simply accept all of ourselves for who we are, and continue on with our lives as normal. No one should feel ill towards themselves or others because there is something wrong with their body. My feet are somewhat misaligned. I had to have my wisdom teeth removed. No matter. One more thing I forgot to mention: only a male and female mammal together, can reproduce. Two males or two females cannot. Yes, this is a simple fact but it cannot be overlooked. I'd advise you to read the following excerpt, and perhaps the full article (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Biology_and_sexual_orientation): [/hide] i'm not particularly going either way in the socialisation vs. genetics debate as far as homosexuality is concerned, however, I don't think it is a valid point to say that just because there are biological differences in homo males and hetero males, proves that homosexuality is in some form genetic. There is a pretty massive biological difference between the brain of a "normal" person and that of an addict. There is some proof pointing towards addiction being a genetic trait, however, there are addicts who do not show this same genetic difference. However, ALL addicts brain composition and chemical interactions are different from a normal persons. In the case of an addict, it was the addicts choice that caused the biological difference. So to rule out socialization based purely on the fact that there are biological differences is pretty short sighted. The biggest thing you're forgetting is that their choice to use that product was not the determining factor in the difference in brain composition, but the repeated use of it. Continually snorting cocaine or other dangerous drugs will change the composition of your brain, but to start with, it's fine. AFTER using the drug is when the composition changes.

What is the cost of a F2P server?
um doesnt europe use euros not pounds? i could be wrong Britain hasn't converted to the Euro, despite being part of the EU. What is it with the Americans and Metric and the British and Euros? Just accept it and make everyones' lives easier and everything more consistent. No one on this planet seems to be able to do something everyone else does, with the exception of eating, drinking, and using the toilet. --- On topic, there's really no way to tell the cost because we don't know their server specs or what company they do business with. You can be sure they're top of the line, though.

Homosexuality in RuneScape
It has nothing to do with teaching anything or pushing ideas. You cannot consciously choose your sexual orientation. Looking at RuneScape from a medieval sense, mages would be burned as witches. You can't use the time frame the game is loosely based upon as an argument against homosexual marriage in the game. While I agree that a game aimed at 13 year old children probably shouldn't introduce it, if any parent thinks their kid has no idea about homosexuals by that age then they've got their heads in a very deep hole. Does that mean that Homo milk is only for homosexuals?? The improper usage of "colloquial" terms simply further distances society from the word's proper meaning. Gay means happy and a [bleep] is a bundle of sticks or twigs bound together. Edit: whoops, I didn't realize that word would be bleeped...sorry about that. If you look at the context though, I obviously didn't mean it in a derogatory way. I think the timeframe was a good point. But witches/mages in real life couldn't actually do anything; in RuneScape, if someone tried to burn them, they can fight back with magic. --- Now, the reason I posted this topic isn't for political correctness of any kind, but just to allow more player control. I thought this would be an interesting subject, and I am surprised that so far, nearly all of you have agreed with me (no, don't add it) and your religion/orientation seems not to have influenced your stance; more of your reason for your stance. Normally, all human males are sexually attracted to females, and all human females are attracted to males. For some biological/chemical reason, this is reversed in some people. We can't say for certain what actually causes it, but the point I am making is that it's not a choice. The feeling of attraction towards a particular gender is chemical; you can't consciously change it, unless you're doing some crazy brain surgery. Some homosexuals may consciously WANT to be heterosexual, but they will still FEEL sexual attraction towards the same gender, and that feeling cannot be changed or redirected. However, there are a lot of people who are homosexual - and I don't hate homosexuals, so don't think that. They should be free to live without being bothered, just like anyone else. Now, most of you probably haven't heard of this, but in software engineering and web design, there exist accessibility guidelines to allow the software or website to be more easily accessed by people with disabilities. My question of whether homosexual content should be implemented in RuneScape was based on this: should we allow players to make more choices based on their opinions? I always design my software to give its users the most options possible, which I think is a good thing. I've posted this suggestion which I myself (and 99% of you) don't agree should be implemented. The most reasons I've seen are that you are sick of political correctness or for religious reason (assuming orientation is choice-based). In an RPG, your character is not some person you control; it is YOU. So he/she should be able to be like you. But the reason I think it should not be allowed is that RuneScape is in the medieval ages... back then, homosexuals would be killed if they admitted it. So I suppose you could argue that you are simply forced to act against your will in the game in order to survive.

Homosexuality in RuneScape
Rapono, I will give you a warning as well. Unless you have constructive comments to add to our discussion, do NOT post on here and cause this thread to spiral into an immature flame war that will unfortunately require locking. I will have your posts removed from my thread if you continue to act insulting and immature. You've tried our patience enough. PS - Off topic, I'll be asking the phpBB developers to add the ability to ban users from individual topics in v4, I can see it would be quite a useful feature...

Ooh, I forgot to put a warning for this, thank you for the reminder, Das. NOTE TO ALL: Anyone getting out of hand forcing our discussion to be ended will be fed to Hannibal Lecter. Thank you for your cooperation.

Homosexuality in RuneScape
I don't see why people would be offended by it, and secondly how is homosexuality a "mature" subject? Homosexuality is a result of hormonal imbalances in the brain, which occurs AT BIRTH, so I don't see how it's a "mature" subject seeing as it exists from birth. I agree on the skirts, although I'd much rather wear platelegs as they protect your shins whereas plateskirts don't. Also, you can post your sexual orientation as well as your stance and religion if you don't mind.

The Mystics - Can The Head Mystic Be The Mahjarrat Sliske?!
I mean when Zamorak defeated Zaros he banished him from the realm. Though Zamorak did not kill Zaros, he merely drained Zaros' power. Oh, ok. Because I can't see how a GOD could be killed.

Homosexuality in RuneScape
Before we start AT ALL: Anyone getting out of hand forcing our discussion to be ended will be fed to Hannibal Lecter very sorry. Thank you for your cooperation. Your first thought is probably: what is this topic about? Well, this focuses on homosexuality in RuneScape. In the quest Throne of Miscellania, your character is married to the prince or princess depending on your gender. If you are male, you marry the princess. And vice versa. But what about homosexual people? What if you are male and want to marry prince whatshisname, or you are female and want to marry the princess? Do you think Jagex should allow same-sex marriage in that quest, and allow other homosexual conduct in RuneScape, based on the player's choice? I'm interested to know what you all think. Should choices for homosexual people be added to the game? Also, post your religion and sexual orientation (in real life) if you don't mind, it would be interesting to see if there is a connection between your stance on this, and your religion. For me: Stance: No, don't add this Religion: None/Atheist Orientation: Heterosexual (straight)

23rd April 2009 - Rest and Musicians
What? When you click it the message appears in your chatbox saying "coming soon". Someone had to have taken the time to write that in and connect it to the clicking of the rest option. I think it was an intentional leak and not a fail. It might of been intentional, but I can also see why it would would not of been. From a scripting point of view, to test a script you would need an input, and an output to see if that script worked. The Input would be clicking the rest option, and the output would be temporarily that text displayed until the additional code was added. Think of it more as a placeholder until the addition code was pasted in at the last second. But anyways, this update looks kinda interesting. With this though, Agility can certainly use a boost with some other aspects, such as Agility being useful in combat. The simplicity of adding an event handler hardly needs testing. Personally, I'd have written: // TODO: fix it dummy Yeah, I'm rude to myself. In a more professional setting I'd have written: // TODO: Implement code to let player rest

The Mystics - Can The Head Mystic Be The Mahjarrat Sliske?!
How can a god be "dead", really? For example, what happens to people in RuneScape when they die? What happens to GODS when they die? There's been a lot of talk about Zaros lately, I wonder if we'll actually be seeing him soon...

Player's allignment to Zaros?
Balance is power. Whatever happens, I shall remain loyal to Guthix. Plus, if Zaros is reborn, he's toast when Guthix wakes up and finds out...

Jard Y Dooku's NEW Ultimate Monster Examine Guide v3.0
I found an interesting little tidbit I thought I'd post... the levels of the Champions' Challenge champions are roughly double their normal counterparts... take a look: MONSTER CHAMPION LEVEL MONSTER LEVEL LEVEL FACTOR Lesser Demon 162 82 (81) ~1.975 Jogre 107 53 (53.5) ~2.018 Earth Warrior 102 51 2 Ghoul 85 42 (42.5) ~2.023 Hill Giant 56 28 2 Hobgoblin 56 28 2 Zombie 51 25 (25.5) 2.04 Skeleton 40 21 (20) ~1.904 Goblin 24 12 2 Imp 14 7 2 There are many different levels of Zombies and Skeletons, but the closest were chosen, and both are very old monsters that were in the game from the beginning The Goblin is based off of a God Wars Dungeon goblin, not the original level 2s and 5s, so we're cheating a bit there. The Imp is also based off of the God Wars Dungeon imp, not the original level 2.
