If you're only after the money I'd say 10 Coal, 5 Flax, because I'm finding Flax very hard to sell these days.

Black Dye the Desert Clothes and Silverlight (as they say in the guide) then talk to Evil Dave WITH ONLY THOSE CLOTHES ON! I used Dyed Desert Bottom, Dark Wizard hat and Dyed Silverlight.
