then you know nothing You're right. The economy never really gets "messed up", but it fluctuates and gets disturbed by new item releases and bugs. Remember when Construction came out? It lowered the prices of just about everything unrelated to the skill, which brought a lot of the items down to earth (rares). While rares did recover over time, it left a dent for a long while. But other items such as barrows armor and whips did not and are still on a steady course to becoming budget gear. Just because the economy changes doesn't mean it's screwed up. Bottom line: Rares will always go up. They've overcome all obstacles in the past (duplication, construction) whereas items which are still obtainable will always go down. There are a few exceptions, such as the robin hood hat, but that should go down too now for people who can wear void armor (full ranged void is better than full black dragon+ranger set).
