Because that "free piece" is a lot better.

One word...Blender. Its is the good as or better than 3DS or Maya and to top it off it is completely free. Probably the only down side to it is that it has a pretty steep learning curve.... but once you learn it you can make what you made in like 5 minutes. It can be found at blender.org

Overall pretty good guide. I just have one thing.... make the main points stand out by making them bold or a different color. Other than that very good guide.
