  1. then why do it?!?!?! i only got 99 fishing because I enjoy the skill. I donÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t think its become common either 0.3% of MEMBERS have a fishing cape so it is very rare \
  2. if your looking for good statistical proof "studies" have been done on a fairly large scale. IÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢m talking about a thread i saw on the ofical froams about a year ago, it was all about d-chains (strategies in killing dustys) and was a very big topic, i also think it was remade a few times. anyhoooooo the maker of the thread asked those who received d-chain drops roughly how many kills it took and whether or not they used a RoW it was clear that the RoW helped (i think over 200 people replied)
  3. i donÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t think it's changed all that much. i think your forgetting that you have probably matured a lot in the last year you have been here, so what once seemed mature to you now seems immature.
  4. i was hoping that with LTTE 3 times a week the times would have some good in depth articles. it could be that my dislike for story posts is making me not see the article for what it is to it but hey :P not my cup of tea \ 1st post :-w
  5. i used to fish there because i hate quests. i did not want to get the QP needed for swan song. but when i decided to go for 99 (achived as of april fools day  ) i wanted fast EXP with good GP so i did swan song and the rest is history. thought i would corect a few minour points. first shark are more profatble than lobs (or at least they where when they where 1k) sharks take twice as long as lobs to catch but are worth 4x as much. as longas shark are not less than twice the price of lobs there still a good money maker. also as far as fishing to 99 its more profatble to fish with lobs rather than monks. thats because you need to catch a lot more lobs than monks so you end up takeing longer with lobs but with more GP.
  6. I said this about 3 pages ago (almost word-for-word) :wall: lol did you? guess grate minds think alike lol.
  7. hmmm jagex get about ÃÆââ¬Å¡Ãâã3,000,000 a month from members (im saying that because jagex seem to charge the same ill all countrys useing exchange rates.) so they are definatly paying 40% tax, thats over a million ÃÆââ¬Å¡Ãâã taken off strate away. so lets say that leavs 2 million. with all the servers that they have and staf i would be suprised if they made ÃÆââ¬Å¡Ãâã500,000 a month. saying that though its still a LOT of money
  8. in my opinion he should NOT go. its not due to the possability of him dieing, but rather the fact that he will put his entire base at risk. once he is there every where he stays becomes a target. why risk othr peoples lives just to pander to a spoilt prince.
  9. mine has to be geting 99 fishing. altho it sort of felt anti-climactic, dont know why but i just expected to feel an overwhellming sense of joy once i hit 99, guess i dont take runescape that seriously after all lol.
  10. oi i have and love that cape lol. and on a personal note a trimed fishing cape looks amazeing with wizzy (g)
  11. i think that would happen pretty much anywhere in runescape lol. there not really being jerks, they where probably just blinded momentarily by greed. i fished there from 88-99 and i have to say i quite miss it, im currently stuck in varrock bank fletching and trust me the two dont compare lol.
  12. because the back log is sorted out by f2p. only members can eat shark and theres a lot less people on members. 8-)
  13. yes i read the artical and im aware my post touches on it. however if you look on the forums most people didnt seem to be able to understand the link between skill capes and price drops. i think i put up an arguement that clarafys the artical. also i went into grater detail on the fishing side of price drops
  14. so why hasent this hapend to wood cutting? thats where i see a problem in the whole macro arguement, if its hapening to fishing why not wood cutting? after all both are quick 99's and both have very bad macro problems
  15. After browsing the official forums I have seen more and more threads about the lowering price of shark. The reason these people say that the price is falling is because of JagexÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s lack of effort to stop people using macros. The complaints have gotten so numerous that Jagex have created a sticky in the rants form defending their actions against the macro population. I however believe the price drop is cause because of a completely different reason. The reason shark prices are down in my opinion is not because of bots or even the money hungry merchant. (OK maybe a little) the reason why shark prices are down is.................... SKILL CAPES! Yes thatÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s right itÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s all because of that lovely purple cooking cape, that all aspiring chefs seem so driven to obtain. DonÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t believe me? Here me out...... Now in other skills the skill cape has improved prices of raw materials, because people are buying their way to an easy 99. For example, fetching and cooking. LetÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s use these two as an example. Its easy to see from the high scores that there are more people trying to get 99 fletching and cooking rather than wood cutting and fishing, this creates more demand than supply so the prices (at least on paper) should rise for the materials used to reach level 99 in those skills. In this case for fletching, Yews and Magic logs. And for cooking, lobs and shark. Now most of you will be thinking that all four should rise in price. But looking at the market only yews and mage logs have raised in price while lobs have stayed roughly the same and shark have nose dived to ridicules prices. Now why should logs rise and fish fall? After all both are used a lot for quick 99ÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢sÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâæ The reason is that with fletching there is a constant need for the byproduct of that skillÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâæ. Bows. After all what else would mages cast high alchemy on in bulk? Where as once somebody has gotten 99 fishing he/she is left with about 30k of cooked fish that must be sold. And the people who generally buy cooked fish are those who are using it to go into combat. However where as a mage will cast the high alchemy spell on say 1k of bows an hour, a high level warrior will only eat at most about 60 fish an hour. This leads to a large backlog of cooked fish. And with more and more people training in pest control food is becoming less and less useful. A quick example would be: Wood cutters produce logs --> fletchers make bows --> mages cast high alchemy on all the bows --> no backlog. Fishers catch fish --> chefs cook the fish --> only some people buy the food for eating --> backlog of cooked fish. As I have crudely shown this leads to a backlog of cooked fish that the chef needs to sell. Because all his stock wonÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t be used for the purpose its intended, he/she has to appeal to a new marketÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâæ The merchant. By offering a lower price than others he gets people looking for a bargain to buy his/her fish. Now this happening once in a while would be no problem, but with more and more people getting 99 cooking they have to resort to the same tactic. Because of more people are selling at the same low price that price becomes the normal price and the process after a while is repeated. . At the other end of the market the people who are just starting their journey to 99 cooking look at the prices of raw and cooked fish and see for example, raw shark selling for 1k each and cooked shark selling for 800gp each. The chef then says to his/her self ÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâ¹Ãâhang on IÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢m going to lose a lot of money hereÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢ÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâæ IÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢m only going to buy raws for 850gp each. Now again one person doing this is no problem, however as more and more people go for their 99 they do the same and again the lower price becomes the norm. And since the fishers can only sell for the price that the chefs are willing to pay they are forced to go along with it. Now what can be done about this? If this problem was the real world representatives of the big fishing companies would get together and discuss the problem and agree on a set price of their fish so they could earn a living wage. However the problem in Runescape can not be solved in this way for two reasons. Firstly the fishers of Runescape (well the vast majority) do not work in fishing companies, instead they are thousands of lone men and woman fishing on their own, which makes it imposable for the majority to get together. And secondly even if a vast number did get together in game or in the forums Jagex would stop it because it falls under price manipulation. Even though the people are just trying to get a fair price for their hard work. So in conclusion can the price of shark be raised? In all honesty I really donÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t know if it can without an intervention from Jagex. What that would entail I do not know, all I know is it needs to happen soon. What do you think?
  16. un trimed slayer cape. im pretty sure its impossible
  17. sigh to true, shark have neerly 1/2d in price. when the skill capes came out i assumed the price would go up like it did with cook x. it should go back up tho i cant see many people selling at the current price. about legal gold i am real against it, people with more money than maturity will just start leveling alot. pc times 100 lol. \ first post =D>
  18. sorry to burst your bubble but runescape is sadly not the second biggest mmorpg in the world but in the west. the article only takes in figures from Europe and America. not Japan/china etc. sadly i think it would be a fair bit lower if they took in world wide figures.
  19. 1388 total lvl. 30m gp. i would also like to see a graph of total xp v money. think it would be quite interesting.
  20. very nice =D> ive been obsessed before (not with runescape) and its not nice to look back over the year and realize whatÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s been brought about because of your obsession. one minor disagreement and thatÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s to do with the whole school work thing. i wouldnÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t say neglecting your homework is a sign of obsession i remember in my day i would put it off for anything... tv, music, walking the dog, hanging out withy friends... anything lol. just because some people may think that runescape is more fun than buckling down to work doesnÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t mean their obsessed just that they have a tendency to procrastinate. Oh and on the subject of calling in a sick day because of an update, if itÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s a good one I donÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t see a problem after all I'm calling one in on Monday because IÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢m anticipating a nasty hangover. Does that mean I have an obsession with drinking? No because I donÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t do it every Monday and as long as you donÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t call one in every update whatÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s the problem? lol
  21. If you're going to be a part of a nation, it's your job to fit in. it would be better if they did fit in but if people choose to limit them selves by not learning the local language its their own decision. after all English speaking people usually donÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t make an effort to fit in either when we emigrate. i know at least from a British point of view most brits that move to places like Spain donÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t bother learning the language. i also find it quite funny that it is an American who believes this, because after all when it was colonized the brits didnÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t fit in and so your speaking English. perhaps to add weight to your argument you should learn the old native American language and just speak in that language and set an example. lol.
  22. They don't censor movies. But I see your point on TV. Like say someone said, "You're a *beep*!" We don't know what word he used, there's tons out there, and this could even hurt the plot of the show. lol no it couldnÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t considering the words that do get censored i can hardly see it being an important part. unless it turned out he was just a floating body part but thatÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s just daft. about the whole censoring thing i think that after a certain time when the kids have gone to bed their really is no need for it. most people watching at say 10pm are old enough not to be shocked and offended by such things. and after all they can always switch over.
  23. in my opinion if people want to cheat i dont mind as long as they dont shove it in my face and pretend they havent cheated. e.g. i dont mind if someone buys gp off ebay to me they are just spoiling the game for them sleves. after all whats the point of haveing something if you didnt work for it it dose not meen neerly as much to you. also i would like to think that when i finish playing runescape for good i could see something worth wile for all my hours of play. if i sell my charictor (i wont be doing this by the way) whats the problem? it would be just as if i had kept playing to the runescape comunity. and it would meen dante didnt just fade out into nothingness.
