Mmm...These are okay, but they are all far too glary. :x 1. Text is terrible. Render looks like it has been "plopped in". 2. The effects run over her face. It looks like a crap stock anyway, seeing as her face is dark. The effects. Okay, but misplaced. 3. Easily the best here. I like how you have incorporated a real image with a render, it looks nice. :thumbup: 4. The lighting is to big and noticeable. Make it smaller, turn the opacity down on it, or just get rid of it all together. Good use of effects to create flow, but they run over his face again, and are slightly misplaced. Keep at it, you should return to your former glory soon :thumbup:

This took me a while. 23 Layers in all. Quite a lot of Colour Adjustments on it. Very happy with the outcome.

I think it's time you used high quality stocks. It's good that you are using football ones, but they don't tend to be the best. Look at sites such as http://bestgamewallpapers.com/ (that fact that it is for games is irrelevant, they have awesome stocks on there, long as you don't mind searching for a bit.) Try using renders too. Onto your signature: The effects are quite messy. There is a terrible glow on the footballer, that is distracting. The focal is, well there isn't one. There isn't much flow in it. Text is distracting. Maybe lower the opacity on it a little. Sorry if that seemed really harsh, but that is my way of C/C. Picking out the stuff that needs improving, so you can get better quicker.

Render has no flow too, but anyway...

Those would be colour adjustments/gradient maps on top of the original image. Can be done in any program, such as GIMP, etc.

You should try a stock. They look way better than renders sometimes, require a bit more work, but the techniques for them are way different. Once you get into stocks... :thumbup: Check out this comparison: Very first: Most recent: That's right, my entry for SOTW 7 ;) If you do try stocks, stick at them.
