  1. Its strange to see so few people just paying by bank transfer. I payed 51 for an entire year. Being from Holland, I know most younger kids have their own bank account, and its not that hard to transfer the money. Yet many people choose for other more expensive options. Their loss I suppose -.-
  2. Solidus, I already thought you'd be the one to reply to my little post, considering you seem to be the one with the most economic education that had posted on this topic so far. I dont know how to use seperate quotes, and I dont like to spamquote the whole thing, so I decided not to quote at all :) I realise I've made an important mistake in my earlier post. A point I shouldve made was, that the market for currency in runescape is not like the market for currency irl. We both know the worldwide currency market is as real as it is and that money can lose or gain value in that market, in terms of other currency. My point was, that there is no such thing as money loosing value in Runescape, because theres is no real competition for the gold pieces we all use, and thus no other currency to compare it to. Of course, there are things like trading sticks or tokkuls, but those don't have an impact big enough to speak of a real currency market in rs. Ergo, my point was: In Runescape, there is no such thing as currency losing value. I can go on with bragging about how good I know the whole supply demand theory and the theory of currency valuation, but Im sure you know that as well, or most likely even better, as I do, so it has no place here. I hope you see my point now, although you still might not agree. I was not trying to completely pass on the basic rules of economics, Im just trying to make a distinction between real world economics from Rs economics, as in my opinion the Rs economy forces a slightly different approach. And yes, I agree that people have used the word inflation completely wrong. Good thing you have at least agreed with me on that point :)
  3. Sounds like he had some conversation with a lawyer and decided to use his newly acquired lawyertalk-skill.
  4. I think we can agree that whatever happened to the prices, is mostly caused by the staking update, and probably also a little influenced by the greatly hyped, close-to-be released, Grand Exchange. What I must add to the discussion so far, is that in rs, Gold buys items. Therefor, gold is our measure of valuation. Items themselves do not buy money; People are willing to pay money for items because they value those items (in the case of RS, in gold). Therefor, I would say, we cant speak of money decreasing or increasing in value. There is no other currency we can compare it with like in the real world, where you can say that for example the euro has lost value in comparison to the dollar (although it has been the other way around lately as those who are interested in economics probably know). Therefor Id like to say again, that theres no such thing as money loosing value. What we can say however, is that the same amount of gold can now buy us more goods then before, which is pretty much the definition of DEflation. I understand some people with an economic background here will not agree with me on my belief that theres no such thing as money loosing (, or gaining for that matter) value: so be it. All economists know that there are in most cases a lot different theories for each specific economic 'problem': some are just more popular then others. Well, thats what I have to say on the whole thing, lets keep the whole discussion nice and clean :)
  5. You could try entering the codes that did not have a destination before, but I highly doubt you can get there now. Could also be a sequence of codes like the one from fairy tale part 2(?), but trying to find a code like that without any clues is pretty much hopeless
  6. Yup, i was right... nooby reward. Anyway, well done on completing it so quickly  heh, thanks, I just like quests. Pretty big cliffhanger on this one as well, and didnt they say this was the penultimate quest in this series? Lets hope they will start wrapping up some of the quest series in the near future.
  7. Done :) Click for reward [hide] [/hide]
  8. For a long time merchants are complaining that people don̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâôt give them the credit they believe they deserve. I̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâôd say the merchants that actually ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâôskilled̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâô will still be able to make money with this new update, especially from people like me who like to get rid of random items obtained from treasure trails (pages are a pain to sell sometimes) and monster drops (lots of slayer monsters drop useful but hard-to-sell stuff) to clean their banks Apart from the whole debate; I don't really care about the whining people affraid of losing their favorite 'skill', I still consider merchanting extremely lame, especially when people do it just to gain more pixels while they already have plenty.
  9. The fact that they have actually attracted an external person as their new CEO at least indicates that Jagex as a company is really beginning to mature. I highly doubt we will notice his influence anytime soon, as most updates are planned way before their release, so what his added value will be for us as players will remain secret for at least another year. I do hope that the Gower brothers will manage to hold onto at least some decision making power, since they probably understand us players a lot better then any outsider could. Dont know who actually owns jagex these days, but if the Gowers still do, theyll be able to fire the new guy if they dont like him anyways
  10. Bank Transfer is quite simple to do as well, if you have a bank account that is. Even easier if you have Internet Banking, which is provided by (as far as I know) every major bank in Holland, although you have to apply for it. Sending through mail works just as well, although it can take up to 2 weeks before you get upgraded to p2p, where bank transfer is usually fixed in 2-3 (work)days
  11. There are actually quite a lot of such names around, and probably not only in Dutch but also in a lot of other languages
  12. 1500 for me as well, 80 farming.
  13. Unlocked it in one try, but I guess 42 damage is worth the warning. Did it before I read your warning though, and and I was carrying full guthan and some other stuff around :-w
  14. Awesome xp reward for such an easy quest, boss was a bit disappointing though. I am wondering however what the reward will be for handing in all the body parts to zavistic rarve or whatever his name is, I suppose that ll give something extra as well. On a side note: with varrock armour lvl3, I was able to buy 64 battlestaffs from zaff, so Im guessing itll be 32 for lvl 2 and 16 for lvl 1. Also, 40 pineapples from Arhein, and 80 seaweeds.
  15. Id say youre absolutely correct. The only thing that might happen is that the 'major' rune prices such as nats, laws and deaths rise a little as their shop prices are quite a bit higher then their market price before the update. Id say the loss of supply here will most likely be made up for by an increase in runes crafted by players. The big question I have now is where the bots will move to next
  16. I must say I dont really care about the pineapples getting removed from charter shops as I pick them myself in brimhaven anyways (Move your house there, then use house teleport, walk out of portal, pick 25, glory to edge, bank, house teleport, etc.) I do care however they removed Oranges from the shops; there arent any orange trees that can be picked, now how can I get my maple tree payments without getting ripped on forums?
  17. The fact that Smapla has received 6 skeleton scrolls means your theory, or whoever thought of it, is wrong. I myself have also had 3 skeleton scrolls from training endless hours on the ones at the yanille agility dungeon. Of course I have thrown them away ages ago after finding out you can̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâôt challenge the champion more then once, meaning I have no proof. Anyway, I know what Ive seen and I dont see a reason to lie about it anyway, but you can believe any theory you like if it helps you to keep going for the completion of this ridiculous ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâôminigame̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâô :P
  18. Got like 5 bloods, 1 soul and about 12 nats in the 2 rounds I did. Its definetly about the xp, not about the runes as jemathonical said
  19. If you ask me, they have decided to listen to all those people that have been complaining about the flood of quests Jagex has released over the past year. Im hoping theyve put all the working ours freed up by this into the dungeon thatll be released the coming week, and maybe in 1 or 2 larger quests, hopefully quests that finally wrap up some storylines as we have way too many of those. On the other hand, it could just mean we get 4 (lame) quests next month (not that I care, I tend to like questing, however lame they might be)
  20. Yet another reason why Im not exactly proud of being a Dutchman in RS Good work on stopping him guys \
  21. Considering the current amount of players that have never played rsc nor have access to it, I̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâôd say you can be considered old school when you do have access to rsc right now (Like I have) Never was member in the glory days of rsc, thats why I have the low member skills
  22. This is what I have at the moment, im interested in seeing what the part about dragonkin will be linked to.
  23. Arent lamps only useable for skills in which you have lvl 30 or higher? I have gathered 148 kudos by the way, has anyone gotten more then that?
  24. A readable article for sure, although the author is more hopefull then I am at the moment. The current banning is just a good start, and I hope it is something they will be paying attention too without pauses, or they will just sneak back in as quickly as they got kicked out
  25. Relatively speaking, they might. If you ask me, the only jagex employee that seems to have done his job right, is the PR manager responsible for making the writer believe that Jagex has a solid reputation for its rigorous security policy :anxious: (sorry for messing up the quote btw)
