Look at range. Range is a huge boost to low leveled magic. At 82 magic, 82 range will get you alot of hitpoints xp. This way mages can have high hp.

Train your pure as you want to. If your going for 40, get 40. Its your pure.

depends on how good you are are the safe spots/not getting hit getting to them. when you get to the part with the rangers constantly attacking you near the end, you're going to want all the range defense you can get. At 80 defense, I'd use a shield. I said to NOT use the granite shield....
