 I also lol'ed at this one. Anyway, Dalcyte makes a good point. God is not simply tied into Christianity. However, considering the fact that the Christian religion is the most promonent in the world, we tend to argue the our points against the christian god. If you do, however, bring some thoughts regaurding the muslim/jewish/your religion here, we will argue those as well.

Rate/hate/envy my day

Well, to think that the world couldn't get any better is probably the biggest joke in the world, but I'll set that aside. I think that your belief in fate is directly tied to your religious beliefs. Otherwise there is no real reason to say that fate exists. There has never been any evidence to suggest that fate exists, so why would you believe that it does? Wouldn't it make more sense to say that everything doesn't happen for a reason until prooven otherwise?

I love Colbert :P . I also really like the guy who does the "hot pocket" skit. I never remember his entire name though, I think it's Jeff (something). Jim Gaffigan is the guy your thinking of. He's really funny :P. My top 5 favorite comedians/comedic personalities: 5. Will Ferrell 4. Jon Stewart 3. Dave Chappelle 2. Lewis Black 1. George Carlin Carlin is most definatly the #1 comedian of all time in my opinion. I wouldn't be even half the person I am today without listening to his cd's and watching his specials. The video already posted on here by him is one that changed my life. One of my favorite pieces of work (Strong langauge follows):

Ask a silly question, get a silly answer. You were trying to prove that fate is nonexistent because of the fact that I chose to believe it. Well, go further back than that. What led me to choose to believe it? Fate. You are attempting to answer this question so that it seems as if there is only one logical answer. That "fate" led you to it. A more sensible answer would be something more along the lines of: As a child, I was raised to believe that everything happens for a purpose. OR: I've had experiences in my life that I could not explain. (Example then follows)

One shot one kill? I laugh at your ignorance. To be so bold as to say that every hunter hits his target spot on 100% of the time is laughable. NEITHER of the two practices are humane. Shooting something is NOT humane. Humane by definition: "1 : marked by compassion, sympathy, or consideration for humans or animals" You're killing an animal. No matter how painless, or how quickly it's done, it will never be humane. So why aren't you keeping things hidden better? If a burglar tried to reach any of my valuables, he'd be crushed over the head with a baseball bat before he could even come within 20 feet of them. Oh, and don't even bother saying "What if he has a gun?" You think anyone who just shot someone is going to just hang around and search for things? If he shoots me, he's failed. ...So why not punch/kick him in the groin? I'd also like to point out that most burglers don't have "training". I'd be really surprised if you could show me some sort of credible statistic that shows that a large number of criminals have military style training, or have even taken a self defence class. Unfortunatly, since this is not the case, no such statistic exists. As for mace not working at a distance: Why would you walk out into the open if someone has a gun? Even if you don't know, I think I've already shown that someone shooting you is a last resort for a criminal. They don't want to do 25 to Life because they wanted to steal a couple hundred bucks in items. I don't know what you were trying to say here, but you jumped around so much it was hard to even say you made an argument. You moreso tried to make fun of people who support gun control and used that as an argument. I think I've pretty much shown that there are countless precautions you can take to prevent yourself from falling into a life and death situation. Guns do NOT assure your protection. They aren't even close to being as effective as taking saftey precautions which stop yourself from being victimized in a violent crime ahead of time.

Mace There are MANY people out there that can function after being sprayed. Heck i was trained to. And many police agencies do the same. Whats not to say a regular guy on the street can't? Mace is NOT self defense IMO. Just a resource to buy you a couple of seconds. Mace + A swift kick/punch = win. Many measures can be taken to prevent even being attacked in the first place. Alarm System Smash and grab? And you said Burglary. Burglary refers to no one being there at the time. Robbery is a different thing. So you leave your valuables out in the open? Seems illogical to assume that the burgler somehow knows where everything he/she wants is located. Deli Section at your local supermarket. Ok so why pay money when you can do it yourself free of charge? Why support possible or questionable animal cruelty cases to get the meat they stock, thats a big debate isn't it, when you can do it yourself much more "humane"? You pay for the bullets, car ride to wherever your going to hunt, ect. Why not just get it done more quickly and efficiently. I cannot even begin to explain how ironic it is that you mention the word humane in the same sentence as hunting. I got a good kick out of that.

Clearly you don't have a Ph.D in Philosophy. You should also probably start checking up on those facts before you state them in a debate. ...Or read a few posts back. Well, not to mention the fact that you're completely wrong, but don't you think that would go against all logic? Are you stating that we're actually getting less effective at understanding our past? I don't see how that's possible.

You are absolutely right. You cannot control how/when/where you are born, but someone else can. Call that fate if you will. When I think fate, I think more along the lines of "Everything happens for a purpose", and perhaps that is a little naive. I just don't think that anything is put into motion. I believe that I am a result of chance. However, as I said, you are correct. You cannot control those things. I just believe that those things are controlled by science and chance.

I can only speak for myself on this one, but I am 100% happy with my life as it is, and actually consider myself better of for not believeing in the supernatural. Agreed. If only the supernatural part could be left out. The entire idea of fate is nonsense to me, but that's just me speaking. That's just a difference of opinion, I suppose.
