Graphics Competition (J_Rod vs. Magicmage101)
Peter replied to J_Rod_The_Ti's topic in Art and Media
Cleaned again, next time it gets locked. -
I can't say that I've ever cried at a movie (what can I say, I'm just not the type to cry), but Schindler's List really got to me.

I remember calling Dell customer support when they still had a few rare American customer support agents. The man I spoke to was very unhappy about what was going on, I got the impression he was about to lose his job. What can I say though, it's their business. If they weren't in it to make money, why would they be in it? If a call to India instead of Idaho is going to inconvenience me a little, then I deal with it. Everyone gets angry, but the thing that makes the difference is how we show it.

I like the third one best, definately has a cool feel to it. Maybe some water on the right side, with the grass being the shore of it would be a good addition. You should also make it so that there is some sort of light being shined by the moon.

Next time please use one of the two available sig test threads.

I would hardly compare MMORPGs with drugs though. You're comparing apples and oranges. They are not bringing down society in any serious way, whereas drugs make the best of people into scum. I know this is really cliche, but who cares? It's the choice of the gamer as to how they want to spend their lives. If you are trying to motivate them to a different way of life, then you aren't doing the greatest job. Sure they are addictive for some people, but it's what they enjoy doing in many cases. If you like playing a game, play it. If you like smoking, smoke. Whatever it is you enjoy, do it by all means.

Getting kicked off the computer is hardly a punishment at all. Don't be so attached to your computer, it's just a computer. There are many other things to do other than sit on the computer. Go to a movie with friends, something else with friends, go outside, etc.

Don't you mean the employee discount is wholesale price + 5%? That's what my friend got when he worked at Best Buy. You are correct. One of the people who worked at Best Buy told him that it was 5% under, but he asked again yesterday and found that it was 5% over. Still, that's a deal.
-
A friend just got a job at BestBuy as a cashier. It took him three interviews, a drug test, a day of training in a classroom, and on the job training. He will only be getting $8.50 an hour, but the benefits are great, such as 5% under cost in items they sell. That in itself is a huge amount if you buy a lot there. Sorry for the off-topic... A job interview should always be taken seriously, even if you know you'll get it. If you impress the manager now, he or she will obviously hire you. If you work well and impress them up to the point where they are looking for an assistant manager, you could be a prime candidate, even if you're still in high school. Remember: [*:1apava4e]Always shake the hand of the interviewer and make eye contact. [*:1apava4e]At the end, when they ask if you have any questions, DO ask questions, even if you don't care. This shows you have interest in the company, and aren't just doing it for a quick few bucks (even if you are). [*:1apava4e]Don't chew gum or eat/drink anything [*:1apava4e]Dress casually, this is at your discretion. [*:1apava4e]Make eye contact and act as calm and collected as possible. Make it look as if you are comfortable being there. [*:1apava4e]Show up 15 minutes before you are scheduled to interview. This makes a big impression on the interviewer. Hope that helps. The only job I ever applied for I didn't get because I wasn't 'at risk'. I might look for one this summer, we'll see.

Canned tuna is really good if you like it. A single can (don't know what size, but the standard size in the US) has 32.5 grams of protien, and maybe 140 calories. What I would do, if you're serious about this, is go out and get a lot of food, but make sure you aren't going to get sick of it. Every day, pack a lunch in a small cooler, and eat throughout the day. Put like two bananas in it, two sports drinks, two small milks, some string cheese, grapes, powerbars, etc. Make sure you have something like a tuna sandwich in it (based on the data above that's a good idea), and maybe some beef jurkey. That should get you through the day. Make sure every morning you have a good breakfast, but not too big. A couple of eggs, a bowl of cereal, a glass of milk, and a banana, maybe a piece of toast. The contents of the cooler should get you by until dinner, then eat a good sized, healthy dinner.

Congrats. It's pretty cool having little kids around, play with them and teach them and stuff. I'm an uncle to a niece and nephew right now, but I don't see them nearly as often as I used to. One just turned five and the other will be two in a couple of weeks. My sister is due with a boy at the end of June, and my brother's wife is due in December. So that makes four :).

I think everyone needs to understand that you say it doesn't look cool, smells, etc., but do you think a smoker is really concerned about those facts if they have gotten into smoking? As I said before, I just hate seeing people get helplessly addicted to it. If they could do it anytime they wanted and not get addicted, then I would have no problems with it. But not everyone is so fortunate. I don't like seeing people my age smoking either, but it makes me feel good about the choices I've made in life thus far. I saw some guy driving around, talking on his phone, and smoking in his $200,000 Ferrari. That's just ridiculous.

You don't need fat necessarily, but you need to intake something for the muscle to be made out of. The perfect thing to take in is extra calories in healthy foods for that muscle. The best way to gain weight is to eat a lot and not exercise, but that will just get you on the path to obesity. Needless to say that's not realistic. So your next best bet is to eat a lot of high calorie, high protien, healthy foods and work out in a healthy way. You gain muscle, get stronger, and weigh more.

Here's a little chart that should help you out a lot: http://www.ntwrks.com/~mikev/chart1.html It has pretty much anything you would normally eat on it, and a lot more than just calories.

I guess I've been wondering if I'm overworking or what. Here's what I typically do every night just before bed: Three rounds of 30 pushups Three rounds of ab exercises (crunches, leg lifts, etc.) I do other exercises, but normally every other day. Are those exercises too much, and should I start doing them every other day?
-
What I normally do when I go to the gym (haven't been there in a couple of months) is a five minute warm-up run (you can run around the block), static stretching, weights (bench, squats, bicep burls, tricep pulldowns, etc.), agilities, 25 minute run, then dynamic stretching. What a lot of people don't understand is that most of us have perfect abs, even severely overweight people do. But the key is eating well so that there's no fat covering your abs. That's in your diet. Of course running and exercise burns fat, so it's a combination of both. You should not eat fatty foods or white sugar. Complex carbs are good, and this includes bread, fruits, pasta, etc. Eat six smaller meals a day, as opposed to three large meals. Make sure they are high in protein If you are really set on gaining muscle, then they say to intake about 1-2 grams of protein per pound of bodyweight. Any more than that and it turns into fat and stores in your body. Nowadays I just sit at home and do pushups and ab exercises. But there are much better exercises for the abs than situps, infact situps aren't all that good since they have potential for damaging your back. Try this: Lie down on your back and put your legs strait up. This will lift your butt off the floor. Put your hands under your butt, and slowly let your legs down, but keep them 6 inches (about 15cm) off the ground. Hold it there. The bring them up, move your legs around a bit, then let them down again and hold them. Do it for as long as possible. Another one to try is lay down on your back, and quickly raise your right hand to touch your left foot. Then bring your left hand to touch your right foot. This is one rep. Do 15 of those. Another one I do (maybe out of boredom, don't know if it does anything, but it feels like it does) is stick my arms out perpendicular to my body and hold them there for 3-5 minutes. You'll feel the burn.

That all depends on the school you're going to for it. Find some university you're interested in and look it up on their website. -
I like the first and third ones. I think it's a cool idea to do these basic things. I like how you did the outer glow effect, it really adds to them.

The only time I've ever fallen asleep in school was in Kindergarten. We used to sit on the floor for our "lession," and I remember waking up with everyone standing over me staring down. Kids fall asleep all the time now, I like how some teachers are willing to be creative, such as get the whole class to leave the room and shut off the lights. Another teacher sprays water at you if you fall asleep. In one of my classes we have big metal tables, and when someone falls asleep the teacher will get a wrench and just slam it into the table. I think it even scares those of us who are actually aware of what's happening.

It's potentially a scam because the guy is writing books, then saying things like "God told me to tell you to read my books." Some people would take this as a sign or something and buy his books. But let's be honest, does this man really speak with God?

The writer of this post informed me that this was a joke of sorts, so he is going to post the link that he generated this post with. Hopefully things will stay alright.

I'm all for people enjoying life, no matter what that may be. If someone enjoys smoking, then that's just fine with me. If its doing it at a party they enjoy, then so be it. But I think it should be regulated though. Do it at home or in designated places (like a bar). What I don't like about smoking is seeing what it does to people. They start as teenagers, getting drunk at a few too many parties, smoking when they are drunk. They eventually get addicted, then stick with it for a while until they want to quit, when they can't. That's the worse, seeing people who just can't quit. You see them all the time, middle aged women (it's more noticable in women then men) who have deep, raspy voices. Their skin is loose and discolored, and they just look bad. Most times they'll smoke themselves to death. Then there's the cancer thing, which is debatable. Some people are more susceptible than others to cancer. My dad had a friend who smoked three packs a day of unfiltered cigarettes for 40 years. The irony is that she died of colon cancer or something, not lung cancer. Other times people get cancer in their mid-50s after smoking for 40 years. It's obvious that health effects aren't a deciding factor to smokers when they choose to do something. It's bad judgment. Living in Nevada, where smoking is legalised all over, they'll never ban it. Since casinos are too big of a contribution to the income, and smokers are free to smoke in casinos, if they banned it in casinos a huge chunk of business would be gone. I think it's a bit forward to suggest that all smokers who don't smoke at home die on the spot. As I said, I'm all for people enjoying life. If that's what it takes for them to enjoy their lives, I'm not going to interject.

Well I blew it because I just made a bunch of bread rolls for dinner tonight (not a seder). But I'll give it a try :).
