  1. As some people pointed out, there is a difference between a word list and a rainbow table. A rainbow table is a complete table of hash to input value pairs made by feeding all possible input sequences and recording the resulting hashes. When you use a RT, you make a simple lookup. Currently you can find complete vanilla MD5 rainbow tables along with (last time checked - 3 years ago) nearly complete vanilla SHA1 tables, thanks to the FAST nature of these hashing algorithms. MD5 hash length is 128 bits (16 US-ASCII characters), SHA1's - 160 bits (20 US-ASCII chars). So if you have a longer password, a rainbow table will contain a different input for the same hash. Which, since the server does not know the real password, will be valid. Of course, salting adds an additional phase of work before you can automatically generate lists of passwords from these hashes. Would you stake one of your limbs on this statement?
  2. It has come to my attention that there is a mismatch between the in-game name and the name displayed in tip.it's website. Affected page: http://www.tip.it/runescape/index.php?page=lumbridge_tasks.htm#begn In-game, this task is named "There's no place like home". Screenshots
  3. All I can say is a very good read. Luckily I canceled my membership before free trade arrived and haven't logged (except for the easter event) since. It's sad to see that bots are stronger than ever and that the largest part of them are owned by gold sellers. I guess I'll simply continue not playing/paying.
  4. It is rather interesting to read a full scale article about the fact that community is declining... NOT. The community is declining, first of all in terms of quantity. There's no need to write a large article how it affects the quality of the leftover.
  5. 1. What kind of a keyboard do you use? (ergonomic, gaming, something completely different?) Logitech Deluxe 250 Keyboard (bought recently) 2. How much do you use the keyboard? Do you often use it instead of the mouse? I prefer keyboard to mouse because of the fact you do not need to locate something on the screen. 3. How fast can you type? 56 WPM with 99.4% accuracy. Could type double that while programming (or wherever you do not need to type what you are reading or listening to). 4. Anything else worth mentioning? I had used my laptop keyboard for roughly two years until the 'R' key became touch-sensitive and 'E' key would not function until the computer is heated up (by GPU usage). I bought the keyboard mentioned above just a month ago.
  6. Hi all, Once again I'm having battery issues. This time, windows will refuse to detect battery [status]. When I turn windows 7 on, it starts with "0% available (plugged in, charging)", regardless of how long the battery has been charged while the computer was off. After a small amount of time (seconds), it changes to "No battery is detected". After several minutes, it starts with "1% available (plugged in, charging)" and shows proper? battery status. If I unplug AC power, the status is quickly updated to reflect the ACTUAL charge level, and the computer functions flawlessly. However, I would like to know what could I do to see the real battery status while on AC power.
  7. I get what I pay for, but then again I'm in the capital city. In at least one province city, you can get speed tests from this website with over 600 Mbps (both up/down) without any problems. If I could only dig one out, but then it was around 2007, so I doubt I'll find it.
  8. Well, I am against bonus xp weekends, because they merely attempt to hide this game is unfun to play. Not that RS is that boring, but you shouldn't make things easier on regular occasions just because that attracts the horde. So if they do another one, I'll cancel my membership.
  9. About first article: Strange that you mention it, but for quite a while I've seen PMods just as a mere distraction to be dealt with. Whenever someone says something through the mighty 'Off' filter, I've instantly add them to the ignore list. Since I rarely use W2 (never since retirement), it works out good. As far as I remember it's more than half PMods there, others are scam merch clan spammers. About second article: Bragging is bragging, but when you play since 2001 and someone implies you have started playing a month ago, it is annoying. My only account that had a holiday item (green mask, scythe) is permanently banned (for real), and while I still have a few from RSC times, they are low leveled and the only proof is recoveries set on year 2001 (at least that's what the screen says). So generally, I tend to ignore these failed discussions.
  10. http://www.tip.it/runescape/?page=activities.htm The 'Conquest' activity guide, while officially released (Thursday, 26-Aug-2010), is not listed in the Activities menu, even with all type checkboxes enabled. [Patched this one up - Bogs]
  11. http://www.tip.it/runescape/?page=conquest.htm#commands The description of 'Chastice' both in-game and knowledge base is wrong, that's why a note should be added besides the in-game description screenshot. You cannot use Chastice on the last remaining opponent's troop.
  12. There are many games similar to conquest, made for various platforms. A random flash game will not suffice.
  13. I was right about commands. With current commands and their costs, some are rather useless (think bombard). Personally, I think Chastice is rather useless (mainly due to the fact you can't use it). I usually go with 4 champs, Vigilance, Stoicism and Charge. Works pretty good. Still, I wonder if it would work against max hals + camping.
  14. Except that the feedback on this game is mostly positive and a lot of people enjoy playing it. Its a Wednesday night and in the United States its either 2:10am, 1:10am or 11:10pm(I think that's right I'm probably wrong though) and most people have already started school again and its a work day. The minigame being empty only makes sense... Yeah, being empty makes sense due to the US-and-Pacific-based player base. However, people like talking. Your point about feedback is not valid unless there actually ARE masses of players playing it. There aren't any themed worlds for this ACTIVITY, and by looking at the most populated (1-1,5k players) I can see at most several players in each. (Haven't tried W2). Completely empty. At least you could have included a world number so I could actually go and play with someone... :P

  16. Hahaha, the minigame is already empty. And unfortunately, by "fixing" issues like fast point/rank gain (in the near future), while ignoring completely misleading command descriptions they will only make it worse. It will have MA's fate.
  17. I'm pretty sure they foresaw this and made sure this happens ON PURPOSE.
  18. Commendations, that is. Yeah, we should farm them (by having one unit, ending turns and then someone wins or sign a truce).
  19. Tried it. Even though I managed to win the first real battle (by accident, see point 2), I can say for sure that it will end up like MA (best scenario) or as Games Rooms. Why? 1. The tutorial, while looking great and so on, leaves several things unclear: a) how is the range actually calculated? b) is rally phase just to use commands after doing a move? 2. Deception. a) You cannot use Chastice command during endgame, but that isn't mentioned (on purpose?) neither in-game nor in the knowledge base. 3. Ability to command one unit, but use an arbitrary amount of commands on one turn. No commands to cancel opponent's used commands. Costs that make some abilities useless (a prime example is Stoicism vs Regenerate).
  20. IE and FF... the *cough* slowest *cough* browsers around nowadays... Well, that means no toolbar for me.
  21. You're overthinking it, it's not directly related to mathematical analysis concepts.
  22. Nice that people think this way whenever they see clues like this. You're way too straightforward - it's not a system of linear equations. You should throw away such thoughts and solve the clue instead. It's easy!
  23. 1. I used to follow the slaying etiquette. I still do when using a cannon, but when not, I tend to aggressively slay until even higher-levelled slayers are forced to hop worlds. Also, I keep the public chat off, so I don't really care what they have to say (or would want to say). Conversation isn't a way to train slayer, afk is. 2. I know how BTS works, but I don't read Jagex twitter. As long as they don't suddenly cancel (for indefinite amount of time) a promised update (delaying doesn't count), it is good for me. Also, I firmly believe in "we pay, we say" principle. I will threaten them with membership cancel as often as needed.
  24. Yeah, but that was ages ago when this was still planned as an activity. Currently, it's not an activity. It's a skill. If you think Castle Wars can be a successful skill, you're wrong. 90 minutes for a solo, comp 6 dungeon? WHAT. It takes me only 20 minutes each AT MOST. And I kill every monster and open every room as well. But agreed, there needs to be a "save progress" thing. That's..... I just can't grasp that. It takes luck to complete a c6 dungeon under 25 minutes with my stats, and...
  25. No need to prove it, perhaps I'm no longer as good at this game as I was (yes - I die against simple c6 bosses even when praying (atk bonus)). I'll try the team rushing, thanks for the info.
