Drinking/Drugs
When I have leftovers I drink them and listen to music in bed. It's actually more fun than partying to me. I'm starting to think parties are lame. Also I got into the Cavalli in Montreal, which is a good, high-class club apparently, though I thought it was pretty tacky. I danced for a bit but I quickly got bored, despite the alcohol, as I was hardly interested in the music. I kept it up because we were going to leave soon anyway. But yeah I would rather have listened to (or made!) my own music, alone, or with people who appreciate it, like my bandmates.

At the risk of sounding offensive (though this is an honest, non-rhetorical question), what is the value of this identity?

The riffs are too short to feel amazing, even though I usually like heavy riffs with lots of chromaticism (using notes that don't belong) and rhythmic oddities, like the one here at 2:19: Not exactly metal, but you get the picture. It's why I have a hard time listening to thrash and DM. Also, totally chromatic riffs lack resolution unless they use the whole chromatic scale, like the one on Master of Puppets. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gfdCmfGn-f4 Don't like the first and third riff on here either.

You should do it, just to kill the suspense. We should do a fundraiser to pay your first hit.

Okay, thanks. I'll look into last.fm, because I'm not actually that big a metalhead.

I follow some download blogs and occasionally participate in discussions on /mu/, but most of the time they're not worthwhile, so I'm looking for something new.

Drinking/Drugs
Plenty of musicians were on hard drugs, but I guess celebrities are an exception. Unless their fame is fueled by their drug consumption (i.e. artists who somehow become inspired by those drugs), in which case they might have stimulated the economy. Other than that, I can't think of anything. Why?

It's been over 24 hours and no one has made a "durr hipsters" comment, I'm impressed.- The Metal Thread
I downloaded the album a while ago, but never got around to listening to the whole thing because I figured it would just be too brutal for me. It's actually pretty palatable, but I wish the cymbals didn't suffer so much from the side-chain effect on the kick. It's inevitable to a degree but it could probably have been lessened. Oh well, it's their first full length album. Do you visit any music discussion forums or blogs?- Culture and Tradition
I enjoy what other cultures bring to us (I'm a particularly big fan of native American art), but having been brought up in several countries while only living in mine between 6 and 9 years old, I feel like I don't know my own country enough to carry that heritage. The way I see it, it is neither good nor bad for my own self, but I do think our world is becoming less and less diverse because of this kind of case. But on the other hand, some might say it is easier these days to get your culture across to others (genre-bending in music becoming more prevalent, and thus introduction of musical elements from other cultures, à la Socalled?). The truth probably lies in between the two, where the accessibility of other traditions and customs waters them down. Better or worse? I can't tell.- The Metal Thread
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0z4YVXiV1Y0 A mix of doom, black, sludge, and death metal. Since you were looking for something really harsh in the electronic thread, DefinitveArticle, you might find this to be a good substitute.- Drinking/Drugs
Depends where and how much you buy, whether you deal, whether you grow... For all you know he was getting it for 100$/week.- last.fm Tip.It usergroup - official topic

Just so you know, grown men can have three or less drinks (1 shot = 1 glass of wine = 1 beer) a day totalling 15 or less drinks a week and suffer from little negative side effects. At a later age, positive effects appear. That being said, the drinks have to be spread out over the week. In English, never more than two a day for women, and never more than 10 a week. 3/day 15/week max for men. Also, does that include DUIs, nom? As for weed: http://www.theage.com.au/articles/2004/01/20/1074360762037.html You can die from smoking too much weed. How you end up smoking 6 joints a day from 25-36 years old is beyond me though.- The Style Thread

I don't like henleys either, but I just recommended what he asked for. Alternatively, the aa5107 costs 22$ less. aa2607 - 14.99$, minus 25% with promo code. Those aren't v-necks though.- What genre of music do you like?

Very sound advice. Irrelevant to the thread, but very sound nonetheless. - last.fm Tip.It usergroup - official topic
