Does Jagex make Animal abuse look positive?
^^^ Haha :P In other news, the popular makers Jagex have been sued for a roudy crowd last sunday night. The popular game Runescape had many players acting at their worst and breaking all the rules. Reports claim that the final episode of the HBO series "The Sopranos" startled up the riot after its cliff hanger ending. Anyway, Father Time showed us how silly these people are.

Player and Forum mods: Life Long dream?
Written by WookieeMania12 (aka Abacore35) Player mods. Some of the big dreams for many players. With that crown and a new option, lots of people hope that someday they'll be chosen by Jagex. However, is being a mod a life-long dream or is it torture? The way a player mod is chosen is when Jagex PMs him/her by account e-mail that he/she has been chosen to be player mods. He/she has the option to decline but a lot more accepted the proposal. Apart from getting access to a mod forum, they have the option to mute players if they have pushed the envelope in rules. Along with that, they also get a silver crown next to their names to show their player mod status. a player mod discussing the crown. According to the playermod FAQ: "Player Moderators are there to help monitor fair play in the game. It is up to the individual Player Moderator whether they offer in-game assistance and they are under no obligation to do this. Their role is merely to report offenses as, and when, they see them." Despite this, player mods have been getting lots of attention since the moment the player mods came out. Many people consider player mods almost as famous, if not better than the already famous Zezima. Many player mods only speak when they have to; but that doesn't mean they are free of these issues. Even rule-breakers annoy these famous elite players due to possible hatred of their ability to mute rule-breakers if possible. Many people scam on F2p worlds due to beginning players and ignorance of possible scams around the Runescape world. a player decides to act racy to a player mod. The player mod in question uses wit to overcome this situation. Not all people who swarm player mods are scammers or newbies. Some just want a good friend or if so, get items from them. A rumor is passed that player mods have the option to insert random items and this is very untrue. Other players don't care if their buddy is a player mod or not, as long as they don't act ignorant in their opinion. Some people can get exciting when they meet a player moderator, but usually player mods don't mind too much of that. Player mods are "un-modded" when they break the rules and guide-lines of Runescape. They is a very rare situation and a 1 in a million chance of a player mod in control of his account during these situations. Any accidental mutes/reports may not be able to cause a record. Player mods have been known of certain characteristics. Some are goofy and sarcastic, some are shy and serious, etc. If they get a pointless question, they may try to repel it with goofy jokes and then explain it was a gag. a player mod twists the old "weapons for sale" idea into something insane. Not pictured he telling the player that he was joking and didn't have any weapons for sale. player mod telling a player that he is wondering if he knowns him. Forum mods are different from player mods. They don't get any in-game features but they are selected in the same way as player mods. The difference is forum mods have abilities to lock and hide certain topics if required. Many people claim forum mod jobs are harder than player mod jobs due to a lot of locked posts going beyond the rules. Forum mods have green crowns and a green post when they post something. Player mods do not have the ability to patrol the forums. It is unknown if players can be both forum and player mods a lot of topics locked in one page of the rant forums. A lot of controversy have been erupted about these moderators saying that, "we don't need groups of elite players catching rule-breakers."; some even claim that at least 1/2 of moderators are power-hungry goons. Usually the ignorant or rule-breakers spread this up and hope that it would pass off as data. Also paparazzi s have been known of editing certain player-mod comments to make it look like fact. Aside from that, there are "wanna-be mods" that try to report certain offenses that are just made to look like offenses. Usually they go around saying "reported" when someone acts up illegally or legally; these people are very unpopular and may not even reach their goal before getting reported for mis-use of customer support Are player mods and forum mods great or are they just corrupted? MY WORD: I think that very few mods go corrupt with power as they only get very few new options. Any in trouble are dealt with, so its not like Jagex is ignoring any corrupted moderators. There are a lot of players and Jagex can't do it all by themselves; hence comes the moderators. Before I became a player mod, I thought it was a good idea as its a chance to make sure no one is breaking the rules. Its like extra help and being gives you a sort of satisfaction. Moderators help us a lot; without mods, the rants forum would be flooded with illegal posts and scammers would be roaming a lot of times. But, every moderators has cons and they should be noted.

To ban or not to ban: A lvl 126---1,500+ views
Some high levels dare to be like immature boys.. One guy at the fishing guild was level-117 and he acted like the most immature person ever (this was the day after Thanksgiving so too much wine and diet coke). He was challenging me and anyone with foul comments and any sort of untruthful lies. Of course, what ever happens to this person is between that man and Jagex as that is not the point. The point is COMBAT doesn't show your maturity. You can have a kind lvl 5 and a rude lvl 100. On my pure, I'm seeing a lot more nicer folk than rude "0mg n00b" folk. Usually that type of attitude works when you annoy someone. So, I just thought of a story for ya'll in this case.

The Source?
One thing about verbal abuse is 98% of the time it is untrue and so they choose anything that'll stick. Example: Lets say I tell Cryptogram this: "ur a noob! u have no lief. ur a 300pound dude lving in ur moms basement. so stfu noob or i'll keel u in wildy u noob." I know that Cryptogram is not like that, but I want to use anything to hurt him. Example 2: I want Cryptogram to buy me a bronze scimmy and he refuses: "by me a bronze skimmy noob! ur a ******* noob 4 n0t giving me a skimmy. Haha noob!" Now, Cryptogram has a choice of adding me to ignore list or buying me a scimmy. Anyone facing these abuses should just add the people to ignore list or report them if they are pushing the envelope (if they haven't already).

To ban or not to ban: A lvl 126---1,500+ views
I don't care what lvl is the guy or who he is. If he breaks the rules; HE BREAKS THE RULES AND MUST GET WHAT HE DESERVES REGARDLESS OF STRENGTH OR WEALTH
-
The Source?
kinda off Free. I think he's meaning that before he matured, he was weak to all the verbal attacks until he possibly took a break from Rs. Then came back and felt better about himself and was not offended at the verbal attacks. He also mentions that kids today would be hurt inside by the idiots who roam RS due to their verbal attacks. He thinks that this could be part of the problem with the "0mfg! stfu n00b!" syndrome. Then he wonders who thought of these verbal assaults. He posts in this final paragraph that we all feel like those verbal threats are stupid but yet we get a little annoyed are now bothering the newbies of RS. I think this is indeed the source as some players take verbal attacks seriously. Really, these people in reality don't know you 98% of the time and are just using any method to make you look bad. I myself had several snotty people but I knew "hey, it ain't true about you and how they are idiots; get the sarcasm ready." All those years of reading classic novels paid off :P

Being nice... is it really worth it?
NOT TRUE! Come on, 99.9%? That's hardly true; I'd say it is a lot lower than 99.9%.

Arrrgh, Macroers!
you know guys, they're getting out of hand because people don't report them. We all need to report them and where is the proof that macros get banned in a week? I don't see it, I won't believe it. Unfortunately some people are lazy and don't care; we can't let them get out of hand!
-
Runescape in 5 years?
yep, so interesting to point that out when a lot of people have RS '12 :)
-
Being nice... is it really worth it?
Oh.... so that means that we should verbally abuse idiots and be worse than noobs themselves. People can be rude but you could be worse if you call them a noob and start in pointless fights. Best thing to handle this is to use the ignore list and if they are pushing the line, report them without a word. I seemed to have noticed that people can become the very thing they despise the most (verbal abusive people)

Do you use sarcasm in RuneScape?
What do you expect? I'm a sarcastic guy anyway and its my best thing since reading "Treasure Island".

Does Jagex make Animal abuse look positive?
Yes, it is about the dog but this is more of a counter with the ranters

Moderator Status: Good or Bad?
The funny thing is, these players are probably 6 or something 'cause a real human being is not such a bonehead unless you count Homer Simpson.

Is Jagex doing SOMETHING about the autoing problem? 600+
Yeah, the point of Jagex to tell us the truth should be taken in as the truth. If they were Mexicans I'd believe it.

Is Jagex doing SOMETHING about the autoing problem? 600+
Exactly, the point of macroning is to support the buyers but if you get the buyers first, it'll kill a lot of macro-techs. You may not get banned for an item scamming trick but you'll get banned for the biggest issue in RS. I think that's pretty fair as Jagex wants this macro s*** (censored for a reason) taken care of.

Does Jagex make Animal abuse look positive?
Hello people! Ever since the Varrock update came out, a lot of controversy involved a new add-on to the new gritty Varrock. Players have the ability to "Shoo-away" the new street dog and what it does is the player says, "tttffhhhhh" and so the dog backs-off with "whine!". Since then, a lot of people complain about this dog and calling it animal abuse; or is it? Many people claim that the ranters recently killed wild dogs and wolves before ranting about the dog option. People also counter-acted this rant-issue saying that, "its not ok to tease a dog but yet its ok to kill the violent members of the canine family." Players have the option of feeding it with bones and meat so they won't just shoo-off this new pixel dog. Now for my word: I think that if you really cared about that pixel-dog, you'd stop killing all the canine-members. Any comments will be taken, just don't FLAME ANYBODY.

Is Jagex doing SOMETHING about the autoing problem? 600+
he never said anything about any joy of banning innocent accounts. Yes, Jagex is doing their best to make things fair for us but they will make very few mistakes. Jagex told us and did not cover up the fact of the Asian gold farmers which was the right thing. We shouldn't get offended as they are telling as it is; they are referencing the sweatshops that have gold farmers and not all of Asia.

NOT MUCH OF A DEBATE LOCK PLEASE
You just gave me a great devilish idea  : August 12, 2007: "Hello fellow Runescape players! We decided that to get more great members of Runescape, we would need to have a demo version with a limit of 30-days. Not to worry too much as the members version has far more exciting things to do. To make sure no one is bypassing this new trial version for Free-to-Play, we decided to track your IP so certain players will not immediatly ruin the game for everyone else." August 14, 2007: "Hello! We apologize but our new trial version is losing a lot of members. In fact, due to all of the players leaving this great game; we decided to shut down Runescape. We are all deeply sorry for this but we have no plan of re-gaining any former members back. We will shut down officially on September 11th, 2007." DARN IT, RIGHT on my [beep] birthday! Anyway, you can tell it would suck :uhh:

Is Jagex doing SOMETHING about the autoing problem? 600+
However, if they said "people from Mexico" they'd be all up on Jagex. We all know for sure Jagex is referrencing the "underground sweatshops and Chinese gold farmers." It may sound racist but if you read it carefully, it is far from that. P.S If Jagex said certain Americans were responsible then Americans would be up against this.

Is Jagex doing SOMETHING about the autoing problem? 600+
Hello people! 8-) There has been a lot of macro-chants lately; some people like it and some people think that Jagex is doing nothing to autoers. However, I will post things about Jagex and macros that may shock some of you. Before that day in May, macroners were at their all-time high in fishing, wcing, and any macro infested skill. Before, sharks were at 800gp-1k ea; when the bots had their infestation, now sharks were at 300gp-400gp ea. It was a dark time for shark fishers and a good time for the buyers. The buyers admit those good days were over when Jagex managed to have an important announcement that the bots got a big-time sucka punch. This spewed a lot of controversy from buyers and possibly the people who run macro-shops. Here's why: On May 1, 2007, Jagex tells the public of RS this: "Over the last couple of weeks we've had a sudden increase in reports of people apparently using 'bots' to play the game automatically (which is in breach of Rule 7). Firstly, we want to let all our honest players (and that's the vast majority of you) know that we are aware of this problem, and that we are taking immediate steps to tackle it. We currently ban about 8000 accounts every week for trying this sort of cheating, and for a long time that kept things under control. Things have clearly moved on, however, and that is no longer enough, so we are in the process of upgrading our detection and prevention systems. We also have logs of historical activity, so we'll be able to make sure that dishonesty doesn't pay. Please bear with us while we sort it out! There are also ways you can help us, so please read on. What's happening is more complex than it first seems. What's actually going on is that the VAST majority of the level-3 characters you see playing the game repetitively and not talking to anyone, are actually people from countries such as China and Korea, who are trying to collect RuneScape gold to sell for real world money (obviously against the rules). Some of them aren't even using bots, they are just playing the game very repetitively with a single-minded purpose to collect gold. These people have no interest in playing the game properly, and therefore don't care if they get banned. The final effect is the same, though ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Ãâ it spoils the game for everyone else. We can (and do) ban them - including using IP bans - but they still find ways to make accounts. We seized 6 billion in RuneScape gold by banning real-world traders last week! Unfortunately, these people are obliged to work such long hours and are paid such low wages that if even a tiny fraction of gold makes it to the market, those running the sweatshops will be encouraged to continue. This is why we are now further increasing our efforts. So how to stop it? The answer is clearly to tackle the black market. As long as there is the potential to make money, they won't stop trying, even though it damages the game for everyone else. Of course, if nobody spent real world money on RuneScape gold these unwelcome groups would just switch to a different game. Therefore, we are going to be cracking down HARD on people who breach Rule 12 (no real world trading). We can catch people who break this rule, because we have a sophisticated trade monitoring system and we can trace suspicious activity all the way back to the original bot accounts. If you break Rule 12 and buy RuneScape gold you are directly funding this problem. You are funding underground gangs who run Chinese sweatshops, and creating the black market which causes this botting problem. Therefore, this rule will now be enforced as a priority, with no second chances. If you break Rule 12 and we catch you, then you will not only lose the money you spent, but also your entire account. Obviously, we will always be careful to make sure nobody is banned in error. Finally, we have noticed some 3rd party sites, which call themselves 'fansites', but then advertise black market trading sites. This will no longer be tolerated. By running such advertising these sites are directly supporting these gangs, and are thus causing the botting problems they then complain about! We don't consider sites that encourage our players to break the rules and endanger their own users to be 'fansites'. (i.e. They're advertising things to their users, which, if the advertising works, will serve to get their users banned!) We consider them cheat sites, and they will be treated accordingly. True fans of the game don̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t encourage cheating! This brings us to the last point. HOW YOU CAN HELP! You can help us by: 1. Using the in-game 'report abuse' facility to tell us about players you see breaking rule 7. Of course we're not going to ban anyone just on the basis of a player report and will always thoroughly check them ourselves, too - but such reports still help us know who we should be checking up on. 2. Boycott any corrupt 'fansites' which advertise RuneScape gold for sale. There are plenty of genuine fansites out there who don't support cheating in this way, and we fully support those sites. Use those ones instead. Also, don't advertise, link to, or talk about any of these corrupt fansites. Obviously, if they stop supporting cheating, you can start using them again. 3. Under absolutely no circumstances buy RuneScape gold/items for real money! Doing so causes this whole problem, and we'll ban you if we catch you doing it. The number of honest players still far, far outweighs the tiny minority causing trouble. Now we̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢re on the case you can be sure we̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢ll have this sorted out asap." They tell us that these bots are from many Asian countries like China and Korea and that they want to make a buck by running illegal programs. Also encouraging us to boycott any corrupt fansite and asks us to report "suspicious behaviour" seemed to have ruined RS or did it? Soon after this message there were very few bots around the fishing guild and the popular F2p yew spot. Shark prices started rising higher and higher to the price it deserved: 850gp-1k ea. But why did people have such an uproar over this? Many people considered this as a racist issue; they either didn't understand or encouraged the rumor just to make sure that bots win. Even buyers didn't like it and had all kinds of examples that bots "help" the economy. However, this does nothing but damage the economy as bots ruin the game for everybody else. Already Jagex faces controversy over its rule 12 enforcement and possibly accidentally banning people for exchanging large amounts of gp or items to each other. Many people decided to make it look like a trade and ever since that idea went out; very few posts claimed they were banned unfairly. Jagex may not be there for you 24/7 but they are there when it comes to a full-scare macro invasion like the past few months before the May 1 Bot massacre. It may get tiring just to report those autoers but as long as they get a higher chance of getting spotted; it makes things good for everybody. According to many examples ingame, Jagex is doing all kinds of hard work on macros and keeping all kinds of rules safe. Although making certain updates that people dislike, they still care about the community or it wouldn't be be as popular as it is. Bots will never die but neither will the people that report them as very few quit the job. Any posts regarding this will be gladly (and sometimes unfortunately) taken. However, one rule should be noted before posting: 1. there will be NO flame wars or name calling or abusing someone due to their beliefs or the person who wrote it :P
