Music not working :(
Make sure your "Wave Balance" is turned up/not muted. You can find this in your Volume Control, accessed by either double clicking the speaker icon in your systray (by the clock) or my going start --> run --> "sndvol32" --> OK

Need help with address bar searching.
Could you press (one at a time) [Alt] [H] [A] and tell me what version you're running? If you're on Version 7: try this: [Alt] [T] [O] Go to the [settings] button by the Searing part (near the bottom) Select Google from the list and make it your default.

Forum time
Apologies if I missed this, but it appears all my forum times are off by an hour (specifically, an hour behind real time.) It looks conspicuously similar to a lack of Daylight Savings Time being implemented in the forum. I see no option to enable it. Any thoughts/suggestions? It isn't too big of a deal, I just kind of noticed it. :P

New Quest Guide: Grim Tales
Strongly advise prayer potions - he's easy to kill if you keep your prayer on, but he drains it and turns it off. Also, I'm quite sure you cannot use barrows gloves for this. Now, we typically don't think of barrows as a metal, and I saw lots of people doing the quest with barrows gloves on. I can't think of a good way to word it though... Also, you can right click the keys on the piano to get their names, in case you forget where they are.

HTML Link Color problems
If it is on the same page, then you have "already visited" it. To remedy this, make your visited link color the same color as your unvisited color.

How do I make forums like Tip.it's?
Well, first off, I'll say if you intend to go through with it, you have a long road ahead! :P Here's a good place to start: http://us.php.net/manual/en/getting-started.php

where to update graphics card.
For the record, I totally agree. I would only use the Windows Update if no other drivers worked.

Pest Control
I'll admit that PC faster exp than training slayer or grinding on monsters. This doesn't make it "easier" by any means. And, most importantly, it's a lot more FUN. The game is all about FUN. And, considering how long it takes to max combat in RuneScape compared to many other MMO's, it's a ridiculously long time. A player could get 3 WoW accounts to level 70 in the time it takes someone to PC 126 combat. To the original post, I would love to see this. As a halfop in Heart Unit, I know all about leakers and undesirables. Seeing something like that would be very nice. I'll take 10-15 guys who i know are hardcore than maybe 5 who rock and 20 who just attack shifters the whole time. Elitist? Perhaps. More like survival of the fittest.

problems with forums loading! :(
Is your cpu dual core, or does it have multiple processors? I run into this a lot - if you do, make sure you set whatever application is opening to have affinity to just one cpu. To do this, go to your Task Manager (ctrl + shift + esc works on most WinXP machines.) On the Processes tab of the Task Manager, right-click the process you want to assign, click Set Affinity, and ensure only one processor is selected. Sorry if this is way off base, but it got me too :P

USB problems
I would like to reiterate this point: if you don't already have the software you need to run the device, an fresh OS install won't do much for you ;-)

Some more help please >.< (More questions)
just a side note: executables in $PATH can be executed with quotes if you want. :-) I find this to be greatly helpful when troubleshooting, especially with inexperienced users who don't know to take off the quotes. :-) Turns out they don't have to. Sorry to be off topic, just thought I'd toss this in there.

where to update graphics card.
As much as I hate to suggest this, you could try the Windows Update site. It often has hardware drivers from major manufacturers available. However, I personally would choose custom, and deselect all other updates (unless you are sure you want to install them.)

Graphics Cards
Both are good cards for the value, one from each fanclub. :P This card isn't too bad either. It's a lower model than one of the ones listed above, and you save about 20 bucks. It's still a fairly decent card, and still a great deal for the money.

Need help getting media from a DVD
In the United States (since 2004) it has not been permitted to decrypt DVD's. In the UK, however, there is nothing against it. The US movie industry is pushing to make it illegal, but it is not. Also, where you hail from, Finland, is making moves to liberate media and make it available to copy. I direct you to a very recent article, http://www.macworld.co.uk/news/index.cf ... wsid=18141 The movie industries are going to spread propaganda to scare you. Know your rights, man. ;-)

Need help getting media from a DVD
As long as he owns the media, or has permission from the owner, he has permission to make backup copies of the data in any way desired. To watch the backup copy and the original copy at the same time is in violation of the license, but to simply have two copies is not illegal in any way at all. To the OP: I have a friend who used to do this for less justifiable purposes than your own. I'll ask him what software he used and get back to you.

USB problems
Can I strongly advise against that? :P Try this: Open your My Computer window, unplug your mouse (temporarily,) and plug your device into that same port. What are the results? Also, I know it's silly, but if your device has any "on" buttons ;-) make sure you turn them on. I've seen the best of computer whizzes stuck for hours because they forgot to turn the stupid thing on.

File compression
http://www.fxmpegwriter.com/ The interface is a LITTLE clunky, but considering it has a free version, it's not too bad. I use this when I need an mpeg (which has very good compression while maintaining high quality.)

Cleaning LCD screen
I've used the same on both LCD and CRT monitors. It's always worked for me, and I've never had to waste money on "cleaning solutions." :-)

Problem Solved :D Lock please.
Collective: I'm going to ask you, for the sake of this thread, to stay on topic. He was worried about damage to his hard disk, and I gave him an explanation about what this damage is all about. I actually doubt it's his problem anyway. Will that settle this? If not, I'll gladly take this to PM so we needn't go flooding this user's thread. Bat: That's always something to try, especially on a Windows box. However... He did already ;-)
