If you know how to, I would build or use another PC and then install FreeNas. http://www.freenas.org/ It sounds like you want some flexibility, and this will give you the best, though it probably isn't the cheapest solution. An old PC would be fine, cheap as chips, though I would recommend buying a RAID controller, and two identical hard drives. This will allow you to mirror, (using RAID 1) ie store a copy of your data on each disk, so that your data is secure. Alternatively, build a new PC using the cheapest Intel Atom processor, again, buying two identical hard drives, and ensuring that your motherboard supports RAID. This will use far less power, though is possibly more expensive than straight up buying a pre-built NAS drive. NB: Some NAS drives can work as print servers too, so if that's useful take a look out!

How the hell can you skip the whole thing? I think it's just a case of clicking a button after you 'create' your character etc. I guess it no longer needs to be there to slow down the creation of bots like it used to be!

OOh nice! *scribbles something on a piece of paper* BTW, is there a limit to the number of slogans you can submit? Also I think there are few spelling isssues near the stuff about codes in the main post. -
I'm trianing fletching, not magic.

There is a slight problem with that, everything in the GE has a minumum that the market price can drop to (both the minumum available price and the 'Market Price' will be the same), designed to stop there from being a sudden market crash and to stop the GE from affecting prices too much. Unfortunatly the minumum market price of yew longbows is set at 704gp. Alcher don't want to buy at 704 gp , so I'm STILL stuck. *groan*

I currently have 92 fletching I was half way through getting 99 fletching... when Jagex released the grand exchange and a strange new rule stopping unbalanced trades. I would normaly fletch yews, but due to the fact that the minimum price for yew longbows is 704 gp, nobody will buy yew longbows anymore. So has anyone got any idea's for some other type of log I could fletch to get to 99 that means I don't make a loss (or actually make some money)? EDit: I could also do with knowing prices.

I thought that was a very good read :D

Same here, I can't see the RSC forums, and I just logged into RSC for the first time in 245 days \

They might do IMO, as they did do a bit of fiddling around with the cash for the barralchest anchor, so for anyone who says they never change anything, well they do. I personaly agree with 100k, even if RWTraders do use staking, then staking 100k 10 times (for 1 mil) and losing straight away will look rather odd.

It was a security measure released recently (resonably) to try to prevent hackers gaining access to your account by repetativly trying combinations of letters over and over again in an attemt to finaly get your password. Why on earth you get that when you try to log out... Albosky :-w -
In terms of using Linux for coding, it depends what you are coding, and if you have a choice I would always go for Windows. I'm not disagreeing, just wondering, but why Mac for graphic design? Edit:Hmm ok thanks

I agree. I also think it will make prices much more stable, but, initialy, when it is first released I would imagine it will make prices change a lot, particularly with things like logs where there are a lot of people buying ans selling, but nobody actually getting the items. I also think some prices may rocket, to make the supply/demand more even. It may also get rid of the need for permanent buyers.

(Going even more off topic (sorry)) Well, at least since you're using Win98SE, you don't need so much RAM for the main OS or much anything else, but the hard disk size is going to get you (You could use something a little larger, like 20 GB)... That and the video card (32 MB FTW?) and possibly a potential need for a slightly quicker CPU (Like 500 MHz) ........... But other than that, you're definitely fine. :) On the other hand (and to get back on-topic), I still have yet to hear what RazorAce's OS and ISP are... :-k ...once I know, I'll be able to go to the right spot in my brain. <*Walks out, dizzy and overloaded... He'll be back later, looking for RazorAce's reply.*> ~Mr. Devnull Lol, There's no way I'm going to upgrade this thing. It's about to die as it is...Windows is taking up so much stuff, I'm just booting off of the DS Linux Live CD anymore. In fact..I take that back. I'm seriously considering formatting this hard drive and installing Linux. If you are upgradng it, it may be worth just buying an old machine off Ebay or something, and pinching it's RAM and Hard drive.

XP is a resonable operating system, as are all the most recent WIndows operating systems, and I personally recomend you stick with even if you are 'a computer buff'. Linux is usually used by buisnesses etc. as it is more versatile and uses less rescources than Windows. Even thaen it is mainly used to run server based applications, again, because it uses less system rescources, but also because it manages system rescources better. The reson I would not recomend using linux is due to the lack of interfaces, you need quite a bit of experience with it before you can use it effectntivly. If you want to run a live linux distro however, as (Olgath) mentioned then I recomend you try one called Damn Small Linux (I'm not being rude, that is actually its name). It sould be the 1st result in Google.

what is wrong with my comp? should i just upgrade?
m1cha34l replied to grimmm125's topic in Tech and Computers
Actually, the reson Mac's don't crash as often is because:- -Less complicated software for it -It manages system rescorses differently so one program can't 'hog' all your CPU etc. (this does have it's advantages though). -There is less open source software for it -Macs has less features to go wrong -They spend time filling in bugs rather than making new features -Mac is a UNIX based system which is OLD and has had lot's of it's bugs filled in -
If you want to lend a hand with a project on this go to:- http://forum.tip.it/viewtopic.php?t=692325 . (Thanks mchainmail)

Actually it could be because it would take too long to lock them all. But who knows?

php:BB has certain features that are useful to the community, using them would take away those features. You would have to be much more driven to reduce load times if you wanted to take them away. One of the thing that I noticed about load time and images, is the speed of the host servers. e.g. IMGspot is quite slow. Maybe we could do something about that? (e.g. recommending a particular host which is faster)
