I don't really have any current knowledge of flash or javascript. Now given what I want to do isn't very intensive either. I think I may try and come up with a few alternative layouts as well and try out some different things.

You've got a point. I think the big thing is I want to show off my design skills more so than my coding skills, and flash seems like a good way to do that. That is also why I am thinking if I do a flash based portfolio page than my blog will be HTML/CSS. The best of both worlds, essentially. I see. Anyways if the text problem is a continuing issue I'll up the font size a px or two. :) Right now I'm trying to think of what I can do to spice the site up.

For now it would be nice. What resolution are you running at? I can read the text fine @ 1680x1050, although I guess it wouldn't hurt to up the size by a pixel or two if others are having problems with it. As far as attracting attention I understand what you're saying, and I'm trying to think of a good way to solve that while keeping the same minimalistic feel. I just feel like if I add all of these awesome images and stuff that it will detract from the professionalism of the site as a whole. Now obviously it should be known that this is a WIP by all means, I'm still trying to think what to do with it. Do you have a problem with the base layout at all, because that is the first thing that needs to be set before I try and figure out what to do with the rest of it. edit: If I added some interesting animation, perhaps?

Awesome, I'll check those out. :thumbup: Working on a flash friendly layout now for my next version, going to make a thread with the WIP.

It just means you only have 2.5GB left of space on your PC, which today is not a lot at all (for comparison on mine I have a 250GB HD and a 1000GB External hard drive). I would suggest maybe getting an external hard drive to hold certain files that aren't important? Or just clean up what you don't use anymore by uninstalling or deleting.

It would run it but not well. My sister has a Dell laptop with around the same specs (faster CPU though) and had a lot of problems with Sims 2 crashing at a certain part. Still it did end up working.

It might be worth it, think I'll look around for a copy of flash. Would be a great thing to have on my resume as well. Any good beginning tutorials for web design in flash? I've only ever animated with it before.

I'm not going to get into an argument about it. All I know is the one thing that kept me going wasn't the people saying "great job, you're awesome!", it was the person who literally flamed my work so hard that he got a temp ban for it, the person who drove me to become better just to prove to him that dammit I am a good artist. The point is, it was all of the "Witty_Fool's" out there who inspired me to keep going. Yes, having positive reinforcement is nice now and then (and honestly a good mix is great) but don't slam someone when they give honest criticism, it's annoying. If you want to be Mr. Positive and motivate people, be my guest. (And for the record I was horrible back then and I'm really lucky to have people who made me strive to be better).

Yeah certainly. I'm thinking I'm going to get to work on my blog section soon, which I'm going to be trying to do in an entire different style (I sort of have an idea in my head). My goal is to keep the minimalistic feel of it but to have it just simply look better and more engaging. Now that I know about tags more so I can design the site with that idea in mind. Hell I'd do a flash based site if I knew much about it, but I don't feel like learning flash right now. Could be nifty though.

I, like most people here, had no idea what you had faked before you explained it.
