  1. Don't ask how I found my way into the gallery of all places, but I had to reply to this. If you're coding by hand and just want syntax highlighting, use Notepad++ or EditPlus. Just set up Filezilla to allow you to edit directly on the server (it will watch for changes and upload on save) so you don't need Dreamweaver's preview. I'm fairly sure it has that ability anyway, I know WinSCP does. Then you can test compatibility in FireFox/Opera/IE directly. I've used notepad++ in the past but I figured after "acquiring" dreamweaver that I may as well use it, haha. Thanks. I'm still debating what I want to do exactly though.
  2. https://www.nearlyfreespeech.net/ Is the hosting site I use. You can register a domain for like $10 a year or something like that. As far as hosting goes NFS pretty much charges you based off of the bandwith you spend. So for a huge ass web site it wouldn't be a good idea but for something like a portfolio it's just flat out awesome. I went like a year of hosting on maybe $5 or so. The ftp thing, by the way, is just the way you put the files on your server. Use something like Filezilla to transfer them  Also I'll say I use dreamweaver really just for the colored code and the preview, I don't use any of the automated functions.
  3. Pretty much just uploading it onto the server.
  4. grapple = apple = TF2 for mac.
  5. You watch stuff fast, haha. I can't remember the last time I watched more than four episodes of anime in a day. Oh and thanks for reminding me about Paranoia Agent; I'll check that one out. Lol I only watch anime when I have nothing to do which generally falls around summer time for me. Since I haven't watched anything in a year I watch pretty quick :P. You would like Paranoia Agent I think, had some great animation and it definitely made a clear point. The only thing I probably could have done without is it had 3 episodes of filler in a 13 episode show, lol.
  6. I don't use the slice tool, I just do it manually. I save each piece as a PNG and then code by hand in dreamweaver (joomla is a CMS not a program). After all of the coding I upload it to my ftp server.
  7. I'll make a thread about it tomorrow (well later today) if more are interested.
  8. Care to explain that better to me pelase? :? THIS with video games.
  9. NEW! [hide=IMAGE][/hide] Alright. I think I'm starting to get onto something here. I've made some major changes in the way I'm doing things: 1) I'm using the 960 Grid system. I expanded the image it's self to 1680x1050 because I find it easier to visualize it but rest-assured all of the content is fitting within the 960grid template. 2) I've decided to go with a layout I've seen on a lot of portfolios and the like and adding my own thing to it. I'm sticking with the same idea as my last with the "3 thumbnails" deal where I'll allow the viewer to look through my portfolio collection and the like. 3) If I can I'm keeping this a single page website. I just really love the idea to be honest of one. 4) I'm not sure what that gray content box is going to be used for yet. A header type thing maybe or maybe something else. I don't really know yet. 5) I'm not sure if I am keeping the color or not. it's pretty easy to change anyways. 6) Still debating the kind of "style" I want to go with this. Like if I want it to be more sleek and technical looking or what. I love that eurostile font so I'll continue to use it. 7) Not sure if I'm going to use "hard" or "soft" edges. Basically what it is now vs rounded edges. So yeah, comments and stuff as always guys! I'm still in the "making it look pretty" phase but I've just about nailed the layout I want.
  10. I purchased the Baldur's Gate Collection a few weeks ago but haven't installed it yet (along with the Diablo and Starcraft Battlechests). All three of the purchases came with multiple games/expansions, none of which I have played yet (I think I tried BGII a long time ago). So I have a good few hundred hours of classic PC gaming ahead of me. Heh dude, you can easily lose 200 hours worth of time playing through Baldurs Gate II and not even do all of the side quests! The expansion adds another 50 hours or so. Just wondering if you guy's are interested (and it was brought up before) but what if we did a favorite games thread a week from each person on this forums like we did for the music and movies forums? I think I'd love to read some of peoples top picks and some in depth explanations why, it might be interesting and I'd love to do a list. Just some food for thought.
  11. Listening to some Angizia now, man haven't listened to them in ages haha. I need some inspiration and I think they will do the trick XD. edit: God damn I forgot how crazy and awesome they are.

Pretty pissed I wasted $40 on an MMO I played for like 2 weeks.
  13. Man, Paranoia Agent was weird. Good show though.
  14. There's another "favorite games" thread on the first page right now... Regardless, 1. Half-Life (PC) 2. Chrono Trigger (SNES) 3. Baldurs Gate II (PC) 4. Braid (PC, 360, PS3) 5. System Shock 2 (PC) Only one Valve game on it just to keep the list interesting.
  15. I disagree. The PS3 is the same price as the 360 (less if you want things like a larger hard drive or a wireless adapter) has just fine networking (I've never had an issue with online games not to mention it doesn't cost me anything) and I don't really know what the 360 does that the PS3 can't. The PS3 handles media better as well with support for more formats as well as Blu-Ray. I don't really get the "360 is a computer, PS3 is a console" mentality. The PS3 feels more "open" and like a computer than the 360 does. With the 360 you need to use propriety wireless adapters, propriety hard drives and any third party controller can not have wireless due to a microsoft patent. Of course this makes their hard drives + wireless adapter crazy expensive where as the PS3 has a built in adapter and allows you to use any SATA hard drive with it without a problem. Neither console is as open as a PC is but the PS3 is at least a step closer than the 360 I think.
  16. I have both. Out of the two the only one that gets any use out of me these days is the PS3. One of the things is that I share the PS3 with my roomate. With the 360 it's difficult for us to play certain games online (such as SF4) because we can't both make separate accounts unless we want to pay twice the cost for live. On the PS3 due to it being free we can have more than one account which is awesome. Oh and I hate PS3 shooters that blindly port controls from a 360 and put the shoot button on "R2" and not "R1". It's seriously annoying and lazy. As far as the 360 goes I just don't see any exclusives on it at all worth playing. Sony actually has a strong hold on good exclusives now I think and has a good upper hand on it. I also wanted to say that currently my 360 has been having an issue where it will restart randomly. I take good care of my consoles and electronics so it's not me "abusing" it. Finally I just wanted to mention that the PS3 was actually the first sony system I've ever owned.
  17. Then don't. Don't rob a company of that much for something you'll never use, if you want to dab around just get some freeware, The GIMP is perfectly suitable rather than PS, etc. Not that I want to bring that arguement here but what difference does it make for him torrenting it or him using GIMP? Either way Adobe doesn't make money. At least with torrenting it he might eventually buy it if he for some reason became a full time designer (Not saying that's going to be the case but I know, personally, that I will probably end up owning a legit copy of photoshop once I really get out into the real world). Just sayin'.
  18. Gungrave was pretty solid. No real major complaints about it even if it isn't in the same league as Monster + Texhnolyzed. (although I don't think anything is). edit: Downloading and going to watch both Boogiepop Phantom and Paranoia Agent next.

Having to use iTunes is a negative to an iPhone though. Granted you can get around that with something like Songbird but still.

    1) Less stuff on it, I'll give you that. However Android's marketplace is not near as regulated which means that you don't have corporations such as Apple dictating what you can and can not download on YOUR phone. 2) I prefer how the Android UI looks. 3) My droid is plenty fast not to mention I get 3G coverage pretty much everywhere I have been so far. AT&T doesn't get 3G out where I am in Kansas. 4) Yeah def just an opinion. 5) Well yeah. 6) I don't have to run some [cabbage]ty program on my PC to sync with my droid. I just plug it in and it acts as it's own drive (like a USB drive would). No having to deal with [cabbage] programs like iTunes. So yeah, it integrates fantastically.

No need to pay so much extra out the ass on a payment plan just because you want a smartphone. I love my Droid but I'd never have gotten it if I couldn't actually have had afforded it.
  22. Nadril replied to Pie Naple's topic in Off-Topic
congratulations apple, you finally add in a feature (multitasking) that other smart phones have had for years now. Plus it doesn't matter how good the iPhone is or can get -- you still have to deal with the [cabbage]ty AT&T service haha. I'll stick with my Droid :).
  23. The font is eurostyle or something along those lines. I can double check later :). Great tip on the text there by the way, it really seems to be my current #1 issue, I'll be sure to give it a try. And yeah I really think that I get so hung up about being original that I hurt the design and the layout in the process. I probably should try and do a somewhat "standard" layout, maybe use the 960 grid system or something like that. edit: it's eurostile.
  24. I'm a PvPer. The issue is that even though I really wanted to get into the arena and get some good stuff going each time after playing a bit I realize how stupid the arena can be. Considering I don't have a 3 man / 5 man team and only enough for 2v2 it's just never been worth it. I've played on and off since the start of BC. I go back now and then because I think Blizzard has changed stuff but heh, they never really do.
  25. Who are you disagreeing with? I never liked the endgame in WoW even when it was "challenging".
