I think I'll stick to melee'ing them. Hopefully I won't get another task until after I have my helm and an extra 100 points ;)
-
I just got a task of 51. I really don't want to block them right now because I'm only 70 Points off from my Slayer Helm. Stats are in my sig. I'd prefer to Range or Mage them (no Prayer Pots = less cost and more inventory space) but if worst comes to worst I'll use melee. Basically... Are my levels high enough to efficiently kill them without Melee? If so, which style should I use, Range or Magic? What would be the best setup? (Inventory, gear, etc.) Or should I just block them and wait for my 50-task bonus?

With your stats, I think you could kill Aviansies fairly efficiently with Protect from Range and Ranging Pots. Take about 8-9 Prayer Pots per trip and maybe 3+ Range Pots (I've only ever tanked so you may want to check a guide and correct me .) In-between runs, you could work on raising your Defense to 70, by which time you'll probably have a higher Range level, making it easier for you to tank .

+1 The problem with Skill Capes is that they now set a standard that people feel they have to meet. If Skill Capes were never added to the game, I guarantee that far less people would have 99's in certain skills (especially Firemaking, Fletching, and Cooking) and far more people would have combat 99's, or the ones that actually help your everyday lifestyle. Are you going to be Fletching a lot, or are you just going to get the Skill Cape and be done? If the latter is true, then I personally think it is a waste of time. Magic's usefulness is limited after level 94 in my opinion, but the 99 at least serves some purpose (less splashes, higher chance of hitting.) That would be a skillcape worth getting. But back to my point, without skillcapes the fact of having 75+ in all skills is far more accomplishing than one or two 99 stats. So if you want a skillcape just for the prospect of having a skillcape, I reccomend you work towards a more memorable skillcape opportunity. Summarization: 75+ all skills > 99 Magic > everything else > 99 Fletching (no offense to all you Fletchers out there ;))

I usually do 10 on flax and 5 on fish. Seems to be the best combo almost all of the time.

That was an effect of the Smoking Kills update. It happened to everyone, not just f2p'ers. To my working knowledge of everything Slayer, nothing will change if you go f2p then decide to come back. Off-topic: looking at your signature, I think I finally found somebody even more unlucky than me

Get it to 99. Now. ASAP. Don't even think about it, just do it. Seriously, I think you'd be better as a berserker pure. 45 Defense owns 1 Defense. But keep it at 2 until you decide what to do, it's really not that big a deal.

I would assume Dragon Scimitar, as it has +5 more Slash attack and +16 more Strength bonus.

Tireless Run - Does it still have a place in runescape?
Kazel replied to SacredFlam3s's topic in Questionnaires
The rest update, useful as it may be, can never truly replace Tireless Run. Gaining energy instantly is still better than having to take a twenty-second break. The main advantage is that you can keep running while using the scrolls, while resting requires you to stop moving in order to restore energy. -
A particularly intense debate on that same topic comes to mind... I can't remember who was there, but we were talking about that same thing in the Chat the other day

PvP Artifacts and It's Effect on Runescape Economy
Kazel replied to Dire_Wolf's topic in General Discussion
Hands up, how many of you 26k'ers out there actually care about morals? #-o People will do anything to make a quick virtual profit. They're just taking advantage of the situation. Personally, I don't blame them. Which leaves me with nobody to blame for the current economy. I'm one of those people NOT taking advantage of this drop rate problem (only because I know that with my luck, I'll be the first one to ever get pj'ed in a PVP world while bolting :wall:.) -
Katanas. RuneScape would be a way better place if we had rogue-clothing wearing, katana-wielding ninjas running around. Don't you agree?
-
Aside from speccing weps of course  Definitely keep it. That's one of the few must-have items for any mid-high levelled player.

At that level, I did Ape Atoll with summer pies to 70 (where I now stand, but I would recommend continuing at Ape Atoll.) Not sure about the XP/hr :?

Stats on each?

I think that Mith Plates at the Blast Furnace would be your best bet. Alch them after you smith them. If you need to make back some money, I would recommend Mith Bolts, which is what I made from 60-69. Turns a nice profit.

If it's just casual training, where you wouldn't normally use a super set ANYWAYS, a combat pot would definitely suffice. The 1 less space of inventory helps in quite a few areas as well. Seeing as I hardly ever use pots for Slayer training, I might start using Combat pots after reading this. Thanks! :

Hey, I'm nowhere near as experienced as some of these guys, but I think I could still help you out a bit  talk to me if you want, I do know SOME stuff  And welcome back to the game ;)

You get enough points for the helm after about 33 chaldear tasks, assuming you dont buy anything else or cancel. Unfortunately I keep blocking and unblocking tasks :wall: can't decide which ones I hate enough to never do them again. Jagex's updates keep messing me up though. Like the volcano update, I had just blocked Greater Demons until I hit 127 combat.
-
I think that's the point where most people get their slayer helms ;) I know I'll probably get mine around my 50th. Whichever you choose, good luck.
-
I think Aviansies would be your best bet. There are a ton of guides out there, basically they rake in the profit with average xp/hour. Black dragons would give you potentially more money, but far less xp. And get that Slayer level up!

If you want a mix of XP and lots of points, go to Vannakka for 9 tasks then go to Duradel for your 10- and 50-task bonus. Every 10 task you get 5 times the points (75 if you go to Duradel) and every 50 tasks you get 15 times the points (225 if you go to Duradel). If you just want pure points, go Mazchna and Duradel, same technique (mazchna's tasks are faster than Vannakka's.) You get 5 times the points on every 10th, 20th, 30th, 40th, 60th, 70th, 80th, 90th, 110th, etc. task and 15 times the points on every 50th, 100th, 150th, etc. task.

I suppose if you want to spend money on offensive runes, it could be good Magic training, but I think Alching would be faster and less costly. Same with fire blasting Iron Dragons.
-
I think that going upstairs in a house in a hotzone (Varrock, Falador, etc.) would be your best bet, since really nobody goes up there. And I would alch Yew Longs (u). Don't forget a teleport in case someone does find you.

Are you gaining the normal 4 XP per hit? If so, I could be wrong. Also, do you have to click to attack the dummy every time, or do you automatically attack it?
