Hello all, I'm thinking about getting a subscription again after a long hiatus. I haven't played for roughly 2 years, but I've been keeping up with the updates so I have a faint idea of what's going on. One of my main questions is whether or not to buy a Vine Whip (I still have an abyssal whip in my bank). I'll probably be doing a lot of PvM, specifically Slayer, and I have around 20m cash to spend. Is buying one worth the minor bonuses, or is there a better item I should be getting? Chaotic weapons are still a couple dozen Dungeoneering levels away for me, and I've always preferred one-handed non-degradable weapons with a defender. Thanks in advance, and any other tips for a returning noobie would be much appreciated!

Is this all theoretical? Because if not, it would be difficult (to say the least) to time cannon, familiar and controlled weapon damage to hit all at the same time.

Hi all, Apparently I input some weird key combination on my keyboard, and now my mouse scrolling function is disabled on all webpages and in all applications. I think it has something to do with the "F Lock" (function lock) and "ScrLk" (scroll lock) keys, but I've tried every combination of ctrl+alt+scrlk (with Function Lock both off and on) and nothing has fixed it I have a Microsoft Wireless Optical Mouse 2000, and a Microsoft Wireless Multimedia Keyboard 1.1. I've tried changing the settings in my control panel to no avail. So far, nothing has worked to fix the problem. The interwebz have failed me in my search for help, so I beg you, the Tip.It community, to save me! Kthxbi Love, ~Kazel

Hey there, I'm Kazel. I stopped playing RuneScape back in September, but I've recently returned and I had a few questions... 1. Why is the price of whips so high? 2. What is a mint? I see a lot of people "selling whips for mint + cash" and I have no idea what that means. 3. Are there new Champion's Challenges? 4. I totally forgot what I used to own. Currently I have a few teleport runes, some terrorbirds + scrolls, a Slayer helm, full ranged Void, a rune defender, my old quest cape (still need to finish the most recent quests to wear it), fighter torso, Verac's skirt, barrows gloves and rune boots. I'm working on buying a whip and dragon scimitar. Are there any other essential items I need? Any other tips would be appreciated, and thanks in advance to anybody who answers. Safe adventuring :^_^:

Reds are probably the best range xp in the game, if used properly. However, if you're just going for casual ranging then I would recommend selling the chins you catch and buying a rune c'bow and broad bolts.

How famous are you on tip.it? (Over 10k posts)

4/10 I recognize the name, I'm sure I've seen you a few times, just can't remember where or when. -
You could alternatively Dharok Monkey Guards on Ape Atoll and use the 15% prayer. No Salve bonuses, but the only costs are antipoisons and repairs (there's an altar right next to the area where you would be.) Of course, who needs that when you've got Slayer?

I was playing a game earlier where I had everyone piled on top of each other as my regular strategy. Somebody used four or five Chompas and got every single one of the units down to half-health. I got owned. So yes, they affect every unit in a stack.

Actually, if you're good, Green Dragons can make you 400k+ an hour. Pick up the dragonhide and bones and sell them, and any key halves or other rare items you get. Aviansies are good too, possibly better, but you can only range them. If you have a good Range level, possibly 90+, you could do better than at Green Dragons. Also, no need to bank since everything worth picking up is either stackable or alchable.

Do a lot of people use it for PKing? Cuz when I seee vids it's usually rune armour then that helm of NEITIZNOT thingy. If you're really rich and can afford to spend money on Statius and Vesta armour for the small amount of time you can use it, and you believe you will make back the money you spent, then go ahead. It's much more economical, however, to simply use rune armour and take your chances with the lower defense bonuses.

His head was obviously far too inflated. "Check meh oot, I haz pixlz, I r pwnz u narbz." I always make an effort to talk to people unless I'm browsing the forums. Oh, and if this occured at Waterfiends, don't be discouraged. Nobody talks at Waterfiends.

Amount of wealth in PVP drop = amount of wealth your opponent was carrying at time of death. [/answer] We already scared off all the RWT'ers, and how is this any worse than what we have now?

Wow, went off for the weekend on vacation and already got a few replies. Let's see where to start... Thank you very much. Yes, it's my first rant. I knew I would get a few people coming in to yell at me, but the replies here are very intelligible. While I understand where you're coming from on this one, and agree that calling is impeccably important, I think that you can take a few seconds before calling. I only get annoyed with the people who give you absolutely no chance to call before yelling at you. I'm not flaming those who want to get better, I'm getting annoyed at the perfectionists who leave no margin for error. Nobody's perfect. And I doubt that first-timers would cause these kinds of problems anyways, because they would have no idea how to compare a "hard" Defender job to something easier, or know that the cannon "makes you lose points". Again, thanks for all the constructive criticism. Keep it coming!

NOTE: If there is already another thread like this, please point me towards it. I couldn't find one so I'm making this, but if something similar already exists please post the link here. Thanks. There is nothing more annoying than this. People who go to Barbarian Assault just to get a Fighter Torso, skip through the tutorial without processing anything, then proceed directly into the game with no idea what to do. Sometimes this is fine, and you just need to give them a brief run-down of what to do. It's the players that constantly gripe and scream at you because THEY can't do their job properly that really get under my skin. Speaking as a maxed out Assaulter, I have seen all of the following kinds of people. And all of them are just as annoying as the first time I encountered them. The Anti-Cannoneer To start off, the most common Barbarian Assault myth (and the most common subject of team disputes) surrounds the cannon. It's right there in Quick-Chat, plain to see everyone: THE CANNON DOES NOT MAKE YOU LOSE POINTS. I don't know where this one came from, who started it, but I really hope they're cursed in every Wave they ever attempt to complete, surrounded by these uninformed players. Most of the time, I can understand why people think this. It's simple: the myth has been around since the release of Barbarian Assault. Everybody thinks the cannon makes you gain less points than normal. It has been disproved by not only players, but Jagex as well. Yet nobody seems to realize this. If people begin to scream at other players for using the cannon, or at least players other than the collector (a variant of the myth is that you will lose points if anybody BUT the collector uses the cannon) I simply use the Quick-Chat term that states the exact opposite. Some people listen, and realize that there's nothing bad about using the cannon. The problem is the players who continuously disregard you with "Quick-Chat is wrong" or "You're just a noob, what do you know." I hope that eventually, everybody gets it into their heads that THE CANNON DOES NOT MAKE YOU LOSE POINTS. The Half-a-Second "CALL!"er Heading on into the second most annoying Assaulter. The people who spamt he chatbox with "call u noob" half a second after the type of food/poisoned food/attack style/egg color has changed. Contrary to what I may say, I do not have catlike reflexes, nor can I do three things at once. It takes a few seconds for the change in text near the top-right corner of the screen to attract my attention, and another few to actually click on my horn. If somebody hasn't called all game, by all means, go remind them. But at least give people a few seconds to move their mouse. The Griper Finally, we come to that person on every team that simply hates their role. Normally it's the Defender, but I've seen Healers and even Attackers like this. If you don't like your role, fine. I hear you. But yelling at your team isn't going to change anything. It's not hard to drop food in a line towards a trap, and it's certainly not something to whine about. Please, just suck it up and deal with it. Everyone has to go through it eventually, if they survived then so can you. Supporters: Me Thanks for taking the time to read my long and possibly very boring rant. If you have another complaint about people in Barbarian Assault, feel free to post it and I'll add it up here. Also, sorry for the lack of flavour near the end, I was running out of time to type  (Cue flaming from everybody who's goal in life is to annoy the heck out of everyone on their Barbarian Assault team.)

I remember way back when... I was fishing with my friend and a river troll popped up. So me, being the daredevil I am (oh snap!) proceeded to attempt to kill the River Troll with a Bronze Axe. Well, it wasn't hard to kill me. Tried to run and I lagged, so I proceeded to die. Lost a tinderbox, a small net, and 10 whole shrimp :ohnoes: I don't know if that counts as non-combat. Never died from a random since ;)

Whenever people do this to me I add them, they ask me what I'm doing multiple times in about 3-minute intervals, then after half an hour I tell them I have to go, swap to Friends chat, and promptly delete them. Out of the 100+ people who have attempted to befriend me, only 5 of them actually lasted longer than a day. Out of those 5, only 2 still play. Which is why it's very easy to predict who will stay with you and who will simply spam you.

I've been able to hide it away from the world until recently. Within the last month one of my friends barged into my home (which many of my friends do, it's quite rude) while I was online, and immediately began laughing at me. I made him take a solemn oath of secrecy not to tell anyone, which I think just encouraged him to spread it around. In the last week or so of school, I was getting a lot of smirks, and a few people actually came up to me and went "RuneScape? Really?" I just ignore them, because most of the people poking fun at me are idiots who have their own secrets hidden away from the world. If I wanted to, I could probably exploit them just as badly as they have me, but I've done them the honor of keeping their secrets as well (even though I doubt they deserve it at this point.) It gets annoying when people laugh at you for "wasting your life on a nerdy game" but eventually you realize that your real friends are the people who just ignore the fact and don't say anything about it. That went on longer than I expected

Yup, that's been there for a week or so (first time I saw it was last week anyways.) It does look pretty cool. I almost regret clicking the "don't show this again" button

The single-player gameplay is horrible. I finished all 9 missions in less than three hours, and that was with me running around and killing everything I saw, backtracking to find things I missed, etc. (I did not find all the hidden messages or Trust Data Disks however, nor do I really want to go through all that "kill this then run over here and kill that then kill this" crap again.) On the other hand, I thought the storyline was pretty cool for as long as it lasted. Oh, and the multiplayer is beast tbh.

Normally if you're experienced enough at Tormenteds, or have a good enough team at DKs, you won't need vengeance because you won't be taking damage. However, I can see it being used at Kree'arra or Zamorak (or possible even Bandos and Zilyana if you want to deal with the minions faster.)

Actually, it's not a glitch to have more than one fighter torso (or anything from Barbarian Assault for that matter.) That is possible and allowed, and you don't have to perform a bug to get one. Also, having an extra could be useful in case you lose yours and don't want to have to go back to Assault. It's impossible to get multiple barbarian assault items now. My mistake, nobody ever told me

Mourning's End was probably the hardest on that list. Just bring a ton of Prayer Pots and Agility Pots and you'll be good  Rockin' Out was my favorite quest by far, that one's pretty easy. Should be no trouble. WGS kinda speaks for itself. The only really hard part is the Balance Elemental at the end, and if you figure out the pattern to protect praying then you can do it. Good luck with the last of them, and enjoy your cape ;)

Tbh, Dragon Claws hop around like a freakin' rabbit. If you're actually going to use them and you think you'll make back the investment (or at least to the point where you can retrieve your original payment by selling them back) then I would say go for it. If, however, you're only buying them because A. They look cool, B. you want to use them as a speccing weapon or C. to 1-item, I would leave that cash in your bank and wait until they bottom out.
