1. If you're trying this at about 3:00:00 AM Gmt-7, the forums tend to have a 5-7 minute downtime every night. If you're experiencing this at any other time, please let us know though. :)
2. o_O This thread is quite old - did you check the dates before posting? Perhaps have it only for Ex-Staff members, or people that have turned down staff positions? If people had turned down staff nominations, this means they aren't suitable for the responsibilities that go with the role of staff. Moderators are generally community leaders - if someone is not deemed suitable for a community leader, odds are they are not suitable for 'special treatment' or whatever from this new proposed usergroup. Still have no support for this idea.
3. - A final date will be available after one week (so the 24th for sure and then some time after that TBA) - Not planned yet - will depend on the applications received and how many - Richard P. Astley
4. I think a forum like this would be very successful. Many forums have a section for coding and programming and they usually work out well. Definitely agree.
5. Yes, all applicants who are declined will receive a message closer to the end of the applications. No messages have been sent to date.
6. Hi there, At some point during a site maintenance, this data appears to have been lost. The good news is we have been able to retrieve as much as we can, but we haven't yet put the time into displaying this data once again - our focus needs to remain on the current site first and then if we have additional time, the rsc site. Hopefully we will be able to get to this in the near future, however! Regards, ~Cowman
7. You can edit your app, even after you have sent it. Please send a new message in the same PM instead if the PM has been read. Otherwise, the new stuff will not be referred back to where we are discussing the applications. Cheers ~Cowman
8. You should be clear now that the time has passed - just the PM flood control.
9. This week's poll asks: Which RuneScape Website feature do you enjoy the most? Player Gallery Postbag from the Hedge Downloads & Wallpapers Lores I don't like any of those features Thanks to Gandorf61 for providing the poll question. >>> Vote Now! <> View the Results <<< Still see the old poll? 10. Yes, GIMP is capable of handling psd files, but not very well. It tends to create problems with the layers when using with PhotoShop afterward. It works for lots of things, but we really prefer PhotoShop if it is available. :)
11. This. The archives can be viewed here http://www.tip.it/runescape/?times=archives (control f and historical)
12. The Crew Wants You! Applications are now closed. Thanks to everybody who applied - it was fantastic to see energetic users wanting to give back to Tip.It! :) This thread will be locked as it will only encourage spam at this point, but here is a brief list of Questions we thought you would like answered: Who read my application? Crew and Administrators How long until I find out if I was accepted or declined? You should hear back from us within one week from this post. If you don't get anything after a week, please PM me. Will there be a list of those declined? This information is confidential and will be kept between us and the applicant. If the applicant wishes to tell people they were declined, that is up to them. Can I check in on my application? No, but you should hear back from us within a week. Will I be contacted if you declined or accepted my application? Yes. A pm will be sent to those declined and those accepted. If you have any other questions, please feel free to PM me. :) [hide=Applications are now closed!]Tip.It's Website Crew is currently looking for volunteers to join the team! Tip.It's Website Crew is the team of volunteers dedicated to the upkeep of the main help-site. If you've ever had an interest in being a part of it all or think you have any skills that could make the site even better, you're looking in the right place! The Crew has many available positions each requiring very different skills and interests. More information on the various positions in a moment. Before applying, you should know a little bit about how the Crew runs. It is important to not glamor a position up, as one may find the Crew was not how they expected it would be when they applied. First off, Tip.It is not a for-profit organization - All staff positions here are fully volunteer positions. Those putting their time into the site are working purely for the bettering of Tip.It. If accepted, you will be required to make somewhat of a commitment to put enough time into your position and ingame research. Crew Training and Crew Work requires time to accomplish and without this commitment, you will not be able to meet deadlines and work as a team. Secondly, web design, coding or mapping skills are an asset, but will not stop us from welcoming you aboard. Our only request is you have a willing attitude to learn whatever interests you. Being a good student will help you throughout your entire Crew career. Both the Staff and Crew are very close teams and you will have the opportunity to meet and work with all existing staff to help better this site. Overall, the Crew is definitely a worthy investment of time. Those who enjoy close communities and view the site as their hobby often have a very fun time being on Crew. Positions Here is a look at some of the positions waiting to be filled within the Crew. Still interested? Excellent! To apply, you will need to fill out the following application and PM it to Staff_Applications. Please make Crew Application: <your name here> the PM subject for sorting purposes. Remember: PM your application to Staff_Applications - do not post it on this topic! Put Crew Application: <your name here> as the Subject Applications are only open to those who have been registered for our forums approximately 6+ months Remember, this is one of the main things you will be evaluated on! Please take your time to make a good impression IMPORTANT: Read every question and answer every question to the best of your ability Applications will be open until January 31, 2010 @ 11:59:59PM GMT Without further ado: [hide=Application - Read Only] [/hide] [hide=In Code Tags - Copy From here!] Tell us About Your Relationship with Tip.It 1. 14. You are more than welcome to disagree - anyone is for that matter. I'm not trying to force opinions down people's throats, but just trying to help you understand the reasoning behind what is done in the Website Corrections forum. As I'm sure you know, not everybody's suggestions can always be implemented, regardless of how strongly one (or many) may feel about it. I have already explained why we do what we do in the Web Corrections forum to mark threads complete and that it will not be changed. You are free to disagree with the crew's opinion on this matter, but the bottom line is this policy will not be changing. It is not possible to cater to everybody's needs on a forum - what is in best interest for the majority of the users (seeing stuff get done) and the hard working crew is what we'll stick with. Again, there is always the option to create a new topic or to PM me or another Crew member. You're always welcome to do so. As ironic as this sounds, I feel this discussion is not going to go anywhere other than in circles with tempers snowballing up to the point where we will end up shouting at each other. I also feel this discussion is getting more and more directed towards me and the Crew/Staff and not so much a discussion between the users. Your question has been answered and we are now moving into an increasingly private discussion. By your definition of a Private Message, one would be most suitable now if you wish to continue this discussion. Thanks, ~Cowman
15. We do not close and move them to completed. They're closed and after a few days to a week, they're moved to completed. Again, if we leave it unlocked a day, it'll probably get lost within the forum and make the forum more cluttered than necessary. I'd rather have more legit posts than several completed topics floating around for discussion that isn't normally necessary after a crew member posts. It seems to me this entire thread is surrounding something that happens only occasionally and within crew forums only. If you have anything specific that you think we need to re-check, please PM me with this information. I can't see what we're doing now changing as its not really a procedure - people just do it that way.
16. The idea is to get the topic marked as done so that people can see we're actually doing something with the stuff they submit. It is also easier to see if the topic is ready to hit the archive if its locked. If I see a user posted last, I probably won't move it when I'm cleaning the forum out. If we left everything open for additional discussions: (a) The forum will look busier and it will look like we aren't using the stuff people send in - which is not the case. ( b ) We will forget about the topics and they won't end up in the archive - Forum looks cluttered ( c ) And of course if some things are not for discussion or just simply cannot happen, there is little need to discuss it more than it was already discussed. And as was mentioned, nothing is stopping you from starting another topic to give us more information nor from PMing me if you disagree with a change that was made. I've only gotten a couple requests like that from you - If you have more I'd like to hear about them. This of course only applies to the Submission forums and not other forums when a Mod locks a topic for breaching forum rules.
