  1. After a bit of searching on the 'net. I'd wager that picture is a fake.
  2. I'm glad (in a way) that its not just me. Its soooo freaking annoying. I can remember on innumerate occasions when I was training fishing, "dancing" with Arnold Lydspor, being within 2 spaces of him, dancing then being told "You can't reach that" or similar. Its almost enough to make you throw a hissy fit.
  3. Me in a ninja outfit, for a awesomely cool New Years Eve party.
  4. Boo! Hellllllllllo Lara! What a nice blog. :D
  5. Have some bumpeh to the front. Loving the new banner and signature.
  6. Interesting thread, thanks for thinking it up. Here's my little transgression. Either in my first or second year at secondary school I managed to purchase a complete set of teachers editions books on science at some boot sale. Whilst there were some subtle differences in the text questions and answers and the exams required a essay which wasn't covered in the books I still managed to get an award in a science related subject every year at school. Mind you science was always one of my favourite subjects.
  7. A bump and a  from ol' torti. Merry Christmas. Good luck and have fun on achieving all your goals.
  8. I like the cut of your jib. I've made a suggestion on a similar thread handling thissubject. Maybe a further refinement would be to pre-empt the sharing decision by some sort of 'group trade' before the situation with respect to 'loot sharing' occurs? So group of players, for arguments sake with different but useful combined abilities are able to earn a equal cut of the reward? An example would be a gang of players agreeing before hand (trade screen or similar) that whatever is looted, is divided equally, based upon participation. Then upon completion of the agreed task the loot is automatically sold (possibly by the Grand Exchange?) then there is no ambiguity about Customer Service getting involved or undue concerns if the players have been 'fiddled' with respect to reaping the rewards from the clan leader. Workable??
  9. A bit of a quote and reply fest here. [hide=Goddess wrote and Torti replied] Fair enough, but when the discussion was based around events that could have easily lead to a serious legal situation (the conversation was about criminality and criminal activity) I felt that after explaining logic of my decision it would be the best way to 'damage control' the situation, mitigation is always better than litigation. Well I did ask the person to either change there post but they refused, as I said before I run my proposed actions past the site owner, with prior approval. That would have left an empty post, but your point is well made. Thanks, I'll take that as a nice compliment. 100% Agree, they've now started a similar thread, without all the personal details etc, I've asked the person in question, privately to refrain from using my personal information on a public website. At the moment I've had no reply, but nothing personal has been published. [/hide] Thanks everyone for posting. :D
  10. Thanks to everyone thats replied and provided me with there insight on how to deal with this. I'll use the hide feature so this is easier on the eyes. [hide=Reply to baron8000] I'll ask the site owner to put up some rules, although this could be tricky, he's a very liberal guy and not very controlling, as such. I think, at the moment, I am the only moderator, but everything I've done so far, has been run past the site owner, with approval. [/hide] [hide=Reply to BlueLancer] That's not very wise on a public forum, I don't mean to side with the flamers but that's quite the wrong action. It is power abusing. You should rather edit the personal details or ask your friend to remove them in a case like that, instead of locking and deleting the entire debate. Well the reason I locked the thread is that basically there are absolutely no rules at all, I'm guessing that the site owner is hoping that we all 'play nicely' yeah I know, vain hope, but you have to admire the spirit.[/hide] [hide=Reply to Twiley] Thanks, whats worrying, is that it was an adult that done the posting.[/hide] [hide=Reply to Sworddude198] You must have read my mind, I've put up a warning that I'll not tolerate blatant flamebaiting or hit and run posting. Its not achieved anything as yet, because there still at it. Oh well.[/hide] Loving the 'flame warrior' site. If anyone else has any alternative ideas, I'd be pleased to read them.
  11. I've decided to come to you guys and gals with a bit of a dilemma and hoping that maybe you could impart some of your wisdom for me. First of all I'd like you all to know a relevant bit of info about me and why I'm posting this here, my childhood years were a catalogue of physical and mental bullying, however that was years ago, back then it was 'tough up kiddo' and 'hit them back, harder' none of this intervention stuff. So I don't back down to bullies easily etc. With that in mind heres the dilemma, a mate of mine has a website that he develops as part of his CV and mostly for fun, you can blog stuff on there, debate topics on the forums and watch videos that get posted up. Its all his own work and code. At the moment he's made me a global moderator on the site to basically keep an eye on content, etc. Another friend of mine rather foolishly decided to post some personal information of mine in a debate, so I decided to delete the post and lock the thread. As a result, I've been labelled as a power abuser and now theres a small group of people flame-baiting on contentious issues, involving matters they know are close to my not so spectacular past. If I complain, I'll be seen as a 'cry-baby' who cant handle there end of the log. If I participate in the 'debate' I'll be entertaining there ego's when they come back with obvious cheap shots. If I tell my friend that I'm quitting the site, he'll be losing a moderator and no doubt the flame-baiters will be 'up in arms' because they've "pwnd" someone with mod status. Advice please?

Oh I've seen a fair share of idiots complain about how they can no longer drop stuff between there 'main' and 'pure' etc. Are you going to pick up the gauntlet and defend that unwanted community of Runescape?
  13. Cool rant, some nice suggestions as well. Heres one thats similar to the previous, I'll concede that I have no idea how practical it would be because I've yet to sample the joys of group monster killing, but heres something that may work. A clan of players on one particular clan chat decide to go and tackle some fierce monster with the hope of getting some nice loot. After a few battles, one of the clan gets the drop of a expensive item. Heres where my little idea comes in, the guys that are present at the fight get a 'trade option' of splitting there share of the market value of the item over how many people were present at the battle. The funds of the split of the value of the drop are automatically deducted from the bank of the player that keeps the piece of loot and divided equally and fairly amongst the clan members. Obviously there would be a flaw in this if the player that gets the drop doesn't have enough cash in the first place to split the reward cash, but maybe something along those lines would actually help? Workable??

Wow, such comprehensive use of statistical information to justify your claim. I'm impressed  There a authority on everything, in there own minds. Here's one for size, Computer ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã400, ADSL ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã12-ish/month, Runescape ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã5/month by SMS, listening to some kid complain that they cant cheat at Runescape anymore? Priceless.

Now who's in denial? Let's see... you? Not me that for sure. Why? Because I'm not throwing toys out of a pram over some changes to game that basically provides me with some harmless entertainment for a few hours every day.

Whine & Cheese dinner, my house? You know this is sooooo going to get locked in about 5 replies or less, right? If your going to quit, kudos to you, because why stick around for a game, much less a paying game, that you utterly do not enjoy to play (its prime and sole purpose). I'm going to wager a burnt lobster, that most of the 'whiners' will eventually accept the changes and also acknowledge that the greater good of playing a game without any resource hogging macroers/ssw'ers is worth it. Don't get me wrong, I've got no problem accepting that the 'old school' will have HUGE issues with accepting these changes, but unfortunately, those days have slipped through all of our fingers. Its easy to blame Jagex as the single source of the problems in this game, but don't some of the 'old skool' community have to shoulder some of the blame in playing along with the ssw'ers/RWT/macroers? Just a thought.
  18. Heres another classic from the world motor insurance, too bad I can't go into too much detail but heres as much info I can post without getting sued. At one of the previous companies I've worked for we used to provide 'brand name' insurance for a reasonably expensive class of vehicles. One of the many things we did was have a 'personal batch' of customers that dealt with just one sales/customer service representative, the idea was actually a good one because we could help set up courtesy cars etc with the dealers and take most of the stress out of claims by keeping them pro-actively informed about what we are doing for them. We would also deal with policy renewals and other tasks that are menial to the customer, but are important to keep things up to date and legal. It also allowed the customer to build up a good rapport with the company and not just some random phone monkey every time they phone up. With that in mind, heres the tale of lunacy from within. About 4 weeks before the renewal of a customers policy, we would send out the invitation to renew, ask if all the details are correct and if they were paying by cheque (as in this case) a reminder that the policy doesn't realised until the payment has cleared. So I sent out the renewal for this person, phoned them up, always got bounced to a answer-phone or to a sec' that wasn't passing this message on. Two weeks before the renewal, we sent a reminder, no reply. One week before renewal, we sent out a reminder that no policy will be in force and the no claims bonus proof, if any is due. I phoned up, same deal again. We lapsed the policy and presumed the guy had gone elsewhere. Fast forward six months later and I get a call from a colleague in another part of the building about why they cant register a stolen vehicle claim(can you guess where this is going yet?). I typed up the old policy number and took the call. "Anger" was mild understatement with the language this guy used when I explained to him that, regrettably, we cant do anything about his stolen vehicle, because he had failed to insure it. After the death threat, the threat of the company I worked for being sued, (what for, he didn't elaborate) he offered to pay six months back-dated insurance. Oh yes, the vehicle didn't have a tracker fitted to it either... It was a struggle not to laugh. 50 grands worth of vehicle stolen, uninsured, because he basically failed to insure it for less than ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã400. Who says wealth is a good indicator of intelligence eh?
  19. Oooh so many moments to recall (years in insurance/customer service). Top one would have to be getting the point across that insurance companies don't cover acts of blatant stupidity; a) Guy leaves keys in ignition, engine running, away from vehicle in excess of 10 minutes and not in sight of vehicle. B) Two quad bikes that got stolen from a secure garage, the trouble is the garage only existed on paper and the customer assumed that we're not going to send a investigator, just to see if the policyholder is like, telling the truth. Innumerate attempts at inflating losses after a claim has been indemnified. (stolen and burnt out vehicle case) Customer: "My vehicle was worth at least another five grand, it had its engine replaced just before it was stolen" Me : "Ok, do you have documentary evidence to support this?" Customer : "Well I did, but it was in the vehicle so its been burnt" Me : "Thats a shame, tell me the name of the garage or engineer that did this work on your vehicle, I'll phone them up for duplicate documents and I'll get our own engineers to revalue your vehicle, hows that sound?" Customer : "Ermmmmm, tell you what, just forget it, eh?" Angry customers that fail to direct there anger at the person in the wrong. Customer has a high value, custom made vehicle, lets his son drive it, with inevitable result of the car being trashed. Because of the amount of damage to the vehicle, the repairs cant go ahead, due to the fact that a lot of the parts are custom build, its not a 'off-the-shelf' job. This guy spent the best part of 2 months screaming at me, the garage, the engineer that was authorising the repairs, but did he ever phone up the manufacturer and scream at there two month backlog? No. Angry customer that 'refuses' to pay excess because of the old chestnut that the "claim isn't her fault". Despite the fact that she's signed a agreement with the garage that she will, she decides the best path of action is to lock the repairing garages courtesy car in her own garage and "its not going back until I get my excess waived!". Oh really. So I get a angry call from the manager of the garage, they can't do work on other peoples vehicles, because there obliged by contract to provide a courtesy car and this woman is messing with the schedule. One phone call to angry lady pointing out that what she is actually doing is a form of theft and also she can be taken to court by the garage for loss of earnings, if they wanted to. 15 minutes later call from rather surprised body shop manager asking how I managed the feat of getting this mad woman to return the vehicle. EDIT This may give the view I dislike insurance/customer service, but to be honest, I used to thrive on the challenge and also enjoyed going the extra mile for people that really needed the help.

Theres a good proverb that covers this situation; "Kit left adrift, must be gift". You don't say in your rant which arrows you were using but if they where that valuable, why not go pick them up or if there really expensive or behind bars, use telegrab? Although there is a flip-side to this coin, that you and others may find amusing in relation to this activity, whereby players will pick up arrows at a certain, popular mini-game *cough*pest control*cough* then cheekily attempt to sell them back at the end of the game? Yeah like thats going to work... Hope you don't lose too much in the way of gp on your arrows for your training.
