  1. From "Learning the Ropes" to Millionaire in 48 hours a guide by sees_all1 1.0 Introduction This is a guide to get you from a level 3 free-to-play noob to a level 3 millionaire. All steps taken were done on different free-to-play worlds, and in under 48 hours. Links to a picture album are included, which basically show how I did everything, but more importantly, they show the time (and in some photos, the date). Included in the guide are hints and tips, along with maps for those of us who actually are level 3. This guide focuses on merchanting with the 3k trade limit, and merchanting efficiently in the grand exchange. Note: After reviewing this guide with pictures in it, with links, and without, I decided it looks best without the pictures. If you would like to see all the screen shots I took when I was doing the guide, go to: http://s34.photobucket.com/albums/d120/ ... 0pictures/ Pictures #1 and #98ish show the start and end times. Please note that I was not playing RS this entire time, but I was logged in about 3-4x more than I normally would be during a day. 2.0 Table of contents 1.0 Introduction 2.0 Table of contents 3.0 Part I Learning the Ropes 4.0 Part II from 25 gp to 13k 4.0 Part II Safe Alternative 6.0 Part III from 13k to 38k 7.0 Part IV from 38k to 300k 8.0 Part V from 300k to 1 M 9.0 Part VI the Drop PARTY 10.0 Conclusion Parts 3.0 to 6.0 [hide=New players, Start HERE!]3.0 Part I Learning the Ropes Level of risk - none... but the time stinks Check out the link, Picture #1 shows exactly when I made my account. It also gives a little verification to the fact that this was all completed in less than 48 hours. I chose the name Chubbypickel because it was unique, and also likely to get banned due to a possible explicit reference, however we wont discuss this. This also added to the time frame in which I had to complete the challenge, because if a mod got wind of my name, it was no go. When you create your player, make sure you chose a name that is unique (i.e. very few numbers means a name is unique). Learning the Ropes takes about 30 minutes to complete; unless you really are new to the game, then it may take about an hour. 4.0 Part II from 25 gp to 13k Level of risk - none financially, however you may die 2-3 times. Link 9 Alright Finally done with Learning the Ropes. That took longer than it had to. Immediately after you get done, go into the bank, and bank all but your air and mind runes. Once youve done banking, go outside and north to the Lumbridge combat guides, and drop your mind and air runes. Walk a couple spaces over, and then Claim from the magic tutor. This gives you another 30 mind and air, and it also starts you off with 55 air and 45 mind. Immediately go north to Varrock, to the Grand Exchange, and do the Grand Exchange tutorial, speak to Brugsen Bursen. Next, after that waste of time, sell off your airs, and your minds. This should put you at about 750gp. Once youre done selling, or placing the offer, go over to the barbarian village. Log off and in to a crowded world (World 1, 4, 5, 17 are good options). When you get in, ask politely for free fish, or just pick up any fish you see on the ground. Once you have about 14-20, go ahead and see that they get cooked. You might have to request assist, go up to the barbarian pub, and ask someone (levl 50-70) to request assist cooking. There are 2 eternal fires at the north end of the building Now head north to Edgeville. You should have between 14 and 20 salmon, pike, or trout. Go into the wilderness, and walk to the Dark Warriors Fortress. Inside the north side of the fortress are 7 rune spawns. Get in the NW Corner, making sure to lock out the dark warriors, into the other compartments Its a little tricky, and it takes a cool head, but once you do, you can collect runes relatively uninterrupted for a long period of time. Keep in mind that there are renevants in the wilderness, and shut doors do not work on them! Once you have about 50-70 chaos runes, use the lumbridge home teleport to get back to lumbridge safely. Some hints and tips when youre doing this: Make sure you lock out the warrior as soon as you can, otherwise youll lose a lot of food. Its good to have 1 other person with you, because then theyll get hit (usually), and if you die, theyll keep your stuff for you (by praying and so forth). Also, keep an eye out for the location and the number of yellow dots in the minimap. If one suddenly appears, its probably a revenant. Dont panic, wait and watch if it comes closer. If it goes through closed doors, it definitely is a revenant. If you can see what level it is, do so, if it is +15, or you can't see its level, log out immediately. Side note: If you are bored, you can also get your magic up a few levels here, I got my magic to lvl 11 before I was done. It also passes the time. Collect chaos until you have a total of 150. You are then to sell all your runes in the grand exchange. 5.0 Part II SafeĀ® Alternative Level of risk - none to your character, however you may lose a few gp on bad exchanges There really isnt a way to get GP by just collecting it off the ground. There are, however, ways to multiply low amounts of GP very quickly. One way is to buy tomatoes or cheese from the market in Rimmington (for 7-12 gp ea), bank them, and do it again, and again, until you have enough to sell them in the GE (for 50-60 ea). Another way is to buy 28 jugs for 28 gp, and fill them with water, and sell them in the GE for 6-7 each. You would have to end up doing this many times, and it may be slower. Also, make sure to check the GE prices before you set out buying something in bulk from the stores. Another way is to mine a bunch of rune essence after completing the Rune Mysteries quest, this gets between 30-50 per rune essence, for 800-1400 gp per run (the price of essence keeps changing.) 6.0 Part III from 13k to 38k Level of danger - none, however you may die en route to the BH arena. Use all the GP you got from the runes to buy lobsters, and/or strength potion. You can usually buy lobsters for 5 to 15 gp less than the market price. I would suggest buying as many as you can. Once youve placed your offer for lobsters, get on world 17, or world 152. Then get to the Bounty Hunter Volcano. All you need to do then is to collect your lobsters from the banker near the creator, and then sell them. You can sell 50 lobsters (noted) for 3k above market price. Once you do this, find another activity to do for 15 minutes (like watching old pking videos on the 'tube), or collect empty vials from around the bank. There also might be emeralds or sapphires on the ground too, so just hanging around the entrances is a great way to make money (during your down time). Once you run out of lobsters, repeat the process 2 or 3 times until you have 38 40k. You can do merchant with strength potion, bounty hunter teleports (1 law, 1 air, 1 fire), and (probably) adamant arrows. :!: Tip :!: Vials usually sell more when they're filled with water, and it takes little time to fill them up. :!: Tip :!: When selling lobsters, say "flash2:Selling 50 lobs max". This will change the colors, and everyone will know that you're selling lobsters at the maximum trade-able price. :!: Tip :!: As I mentioned before, you have to wait 15 minutes in between profitable trades. Make sure you do this!!! otherwise, you may end up wasting a lot of time and effort. A free 20k? If merchanting to Bounty Hunters isn't your cup of tea, or you want to expedite the process of money making, you can also go to the Stronghold of Security, and the Stronghold of Player Safety. Tip.it guides for these are located here and here. I'd recommend getting 10 trout/salmon before attempting either, and having full run before attempting the Stronghold of Security. Make sure you have your recovery questions set before you attempt either. Thanks to Bad911 for the original idea![/hide] 7.0 Part IV from 38k to 300k Level of risk: Moderate -- keep an eye out on market prices, and double check before you exchange. Alright, since most of you reading this fall in this category, I would suggest that you start here. First thing, for those just joining us - Sell off everything thats non-essential. That way, you'll have as much GP to work with as possible, and the more GP, the quicker you'll be able to merchant your way up. So, use all your money to buy these individual components: Green d'hide body Green d'hide chaps Green d'hide vamb Since you've got 38k, you should be able to buy 4 of them. After you buy them at market price, set them into Green Dragonhide Sets. These are much more valuable than the individual components. Sell the Gren Dragonhide Sets for just about maximum price. If you are unable to immediately buy 4 chaps, then you could also buy (in this order): Adamant platebody Adamant platelegs Adamant kiteshield Adamant full helm You should be able to buy about 2 sets of these, at or slightly below market price. Then set them into Adamant Full Armour Set (l). Sell these for maximum price. Each time you sell a Green Dragonhide set, you should get about 400 gp. So, selling 4 sets, you get about 1600 gp. It takes about 8000 gp to buy the parts, so in 5 "flops", you should be able to buy another... and then in 4 "flops", you should be able to buy another... etc. The time it takes to make money rises approximately exponentially (well, to a point) with the more money you have. Each time you sell an Adamant Full Armour, you should make about 900 gp. So, selling 2 sets, you get about 1800 gp. With some more math, in about 11 "flops", you should be able to buy another set. :!: tip :!: Since you have more than one spot in the GE, it is wise to buy the harder to get item first, and while you're selling your sets. It makes turn-around time a-lot quicker. :!: tip :!: I would recommend that you buy the adamant armour with your money first, and use the left over to buy the d'hide. That way, all of your money is utilized, and you're always busy setting and unsetting. :!: tip :!: If you're having a slow time buying or selling an item, switch worlds. I highly doubt that the GE works on every world, all at once. Its more likely that it exchanges locally first, and then globally. Switching worlds can't hurt anything, and may speed up the process. Remember - you are only allowed to buy 100 pieces or sell 100 pieces of armor at a time, and this limit resets every 4 hours. So you should be able to make 40k off of Green d'hide sets, and 90k off of adamant sets every 4 hours (Translates to 130k/4hours- 32.5k/hour). Picking up the chaos every min makes about 30k an hour, and you have to worry about revenants. 8.0 Part V from 300k to 1 M Level of risk - High. You will be dealing with large amounts of GP, and a mistaken transaction can easily lose big GP. Alright, there is really no magic after the 300k, however at this point you can begin using rune armour. You can purchase these components at the prices indicated Rune platebody - 42k (At the time of writing, the GE price was 43080) Rune kiteshield - 39k, 39.5k, GE price (at the time of writing, the GE price was 39885) Rune full helm - 21k (at the time of writing, the GE price was 21118) Rune platelegs - min; 40.6k (At the time of writing, the GE price was 46021. There is an over abundance of rune platelegs.) You can sell the sets for 147k, 146k or 145k, depending on how long you want to wait in between flops (at the time of writing, the cost of a set is 144.6k). If purchased for the recommended prices, you will get from 1600 (if everything goes horrible) to 4500 gp (if everything goes as planned). It will take about 16 flops for you to be able to purchase another set, use the excess to buy d'hide or adamant. It is riskier to buy large amounts of things, such as adamant components, but it may reward better. Towards the later parts of my 2 days, I was buying 60 green d'hide sets at a time, and making tons of gp per flop. :!: tip :!: as indicated above, if you have leftover gp, use it! buy a component that takes longer to get, or use it to buy a set that costs less. :!: tip :!: If you have another account, this would be a good time to train it, or play a mini game. During this time, I got my noob acct (sqelt) to a rating of 2000 something in FoG, and he's only a lvl 32. (stinks to be the lvl 90s that I keep beating lol) :!: tip :!: You will get many random events when doing this; because everything you're doing (repeated clicks, staying in a busy spot for long periods of time) indicates you're a macroer. DO NOT do anything which would give Jagex proof, because they will ban you if they think you are macroing. A good thing to do to avoid this is to join a busy chat (I was in Uloveme's chat most of the time), and enjoy chatting to other players. A bot will not talk in a chat, and you will have proof (keep it clean though 8-) ) If you can average 2k per flop per set, the maximum you can make with this method is 200k/4hours or 50k/hour. 9.0 Part VI the Drop PARTY Since I had no intention of keeping this account active, after I got the 1M, I dropped it at the party. This link has pictures of the proof of the drop. I ended up getting more than 200 people to show up at the drop, my rough estimate is 250 (Jagex blots out the extras). No one believe that a lvl 8 had 1 million to drop, so they all kept calling me a noob when I said "My drop!!! I put in the million". Such is life. 10.0 Conclusion Really the only reason merchanting works is because you're investing and re-investing in stable products. Sets are worth more to people than the individual components, people are willing to spend an extra bit to get everything all at once. Also, when you're buying the components and selling the sets, you're not buying and selling the same thing over and over, you're "creating" a new product. Of course, after I create this guide, and everyone reads it, everyone will want to get in on the action, and prices will fluctuate. Such is life. Thank you for reading my guide, and happy GP-ing! [hide=edit history]***editted 8-7-08*** changed some of the titles added an appropriate link changed a small bit of text price of full rune has gone up dramatically, call it inflation? with my main, was able to make 7k off each rune set, for 100 sets - (just logged in and checked), so that is 700k in less than an hour. ***editted 9-1-08*** changed some of the language to better suit new players changed the title to reflect new "tutorial island" added in Stronghold of Security and Stronghold of Player Safety added hide tags to early areas.[/hide]
