  1. Did you do an upgrade or a clean install? The easiest thing, IMO, would be to copy your Home folder onto a backup disk. You could also do restore from Time Machine backup. You might find this thread helpful. Mind you, it was with the GM seed of 10.7, so some things may have changed.
  2. Yes, I went ahead and turned off 'natural' scrolling. It might be nice with just a touchpad, but it's confusing otherwise. The Library is hidden by default now. If you want to unhide it: chflags nohidden ~/Library/
  3. Hmm, why the 6GB of RAM? There are no tri-channel C2D CPUs AFAIK. I didn't have enough money for another stick of 4GB. And at the time, it was not known whether 8GB was supported in my model. Officially, 4GB is the 'maximum' amount supported for my model.
  4. I have the old aluminum MacBook before they switched all the unibodies to Pros. MacBook 5,1 2.4Ghz C2D NVIDIA GeForce 9400M 256 MB 6GB RAM 1067 MHz DDR3 Not much of a battery increase. Coconut Battery says that my battery, at 237 load cycles, is at 89% heath (3652/4100mAh), so it could be attributed to battery degredation. If you plan on getting an SSD, make sure you turn off a few things like putting the HDD to sleep & Spotlight indexing. I was used to the four-finger flick up to show the desktop, that's now a five-finger spread. Four-fingers down is exposé single application (no more option for all applications :(). Not sure if there's a way to turn it off, but you can't hold down letter keys anymore for simulating repeated presses. (i.e.; no more 'oooooooooooooooooooooooooooo' just by holding your finger there). Rather, holding pops up a menu for accented characters like on iOS. Not sure how I like it yet. I used the Magic Mouse for about two days and got my money back, so I can't help you there. :P
  5. So far so good. Some of the little things are nice. Not really liking Launchpad, but it's entirely optional. Some of the gestures seem awkward to me now, as they changed that up quite a bit. I wouldn't really say it's any 'faster,' but I don't really know since I'm using an SSD. The iOS autocorrect made it on here and that's great, imo. :)
  6. Just did a clean install and have it up and running. :D
  7. I heard there were a lot of bugs with the current GM release and many people were hoping for a revision. However, I will be doing a clean install of Lion tomorrow, providing their server doesn't crash.
  8. OS 10.7 is set for release tomorrow. Anyone upgrading? :?:
  9. Apple provides the Java updates, which means they're always an update behind. This is to change starting with Java 8, I believe, where Oracle will have to roll out their own support for OS X.
  10. I don't know about other brands, but Asus is even easier than the Mac notebooks as you just have to unscrew the 2 screws on the hard drive compartment. Don't even have to unscrew anything on the previous unibody Macs. :P Just made an observation, not trying to start anything though. Do those use the Mac version of SATA though, with the extra pins? I know the case with Mac Pro's is you need to buy Apple branded hard drives because of the non-standard setup. I've replaced the stock 250GB HDD with an Intel 80GB SSD. So as far as I know, it's standard. I've never heard that about Mac Pros. I know several people who have third-party hard drives. Some are SAS, but I don't know if they're using a RAID controller or something. I also know someone who bought an Intel SSD and put it in the Mac Pro's optical bay, using the SATA connector. Can't say I'm too savvy about Mac Pros, though - any material I could read on it?

  12. Upgrading the HDD isn't difficult at all. In fact, I've found that they're even easier to replace in Mac notebooks. iFixit HDD Replacement Eh, so your model makes it a bit more difficult - it's still not too bad. From there, partitioning the disk is a piece of cake. To answer your former question, the rule of thumb is to have 10% of HDD/SDD space free for moving files. This percentage can vary depending on the size of your disk; a larger disk means a lower %. Yes, having limited space will impact performance.
  13. I have everything in except my essays. Got an e-mail earlier saying that my Admissions Officer signed off on my presidential nomination. LOAs are usually for recruited athletes so I hear, but they give out 100 of them so I am keeping my fingers crossed. :) As for stretches, lie down on the floor with your hands & legs outstretched like a 'T'. Bring one leg up - straight or slightly bent, whatever - and slowly rotate it across your body (right leg goes to the left side). It should almost be touching the floor. Twist your torso in the direction opposite of your leg. This always pops my lower back and I feel great afterwards.
  14. It's never worth installing the beta unless you are an app developer testing your application. Been there, done that. Hope that helps.
  15. I won 11 in a row once. The last time I went staking, however, I only won 3 out of 21 matches. How about them odds, eh?
  16. Assuming it has the lowest processor and memory configurations, and has the CD ROM reader, it's worth about $10-20. If you can shoot me the CPU frequency, RAM, and hard drive capacity I can give you a better estimate.
  17. You say that like it's our job. I don't think he's saying it's your job. However, when you have the ability to silence people who advertise gold selling websites in under 30 seconds and don't...then what kind of asset to the community are you (Not speaking of you specifically of course)? Player moderators are supposed to be the outstanding members of the community and if they cannot spare 30 seconds of their time to help the community out, then are they really living up to their "position"? Just think, if a player moderator runs by someone advertising a gold selling site and chooses not to mute, then someone will potentially go for the bait and buy gold. This could lead to a whole plethora of other things, including phising their password, and, in the end, a ban issued to them. It obviously isn't your job, but when player moderators sit in the GE and do not mute those players, when their public is obviously on, they're not aiding the community one bit. Then again, Jagex will probably lift the player moderator mute and not perm mute the player because they don't care all that much about rwt and macros anymore  . I agree, and maybe it's just me, but I'm not seeing these advertising bots. Perhaps it's because I stay in W99. I just don't like the way he/she worded "...being productive..." as if we are being unproductive if we're not hunting for spam.

  19. BBall throw: you don't need any strength to do it, you just need coordination. Position your knees about 8-12 inches apart. Lean back with your toes curled as though you were about to stand up. Keep your non-dominant hand near your chin and, while whipping your torso, pivot your non-dominant arm downward to create maximum momentum. As for your throwing hand, if you throw it like a shot-put your will fail - plain and simple. You have to keep your arm straight at all times and wind it back behind your torso. Again, while violently jerking your torso, bring your throwing arm up and release at a 45* angle and 'snap' your wrist. If this is confusing, watch a few soccer goalie's throws. Think of your body as a trebuchet. Push up: just go hard. I practically OD'd on arganine before I took my CFA. Practice makes perfect, and don't start later, start now. Definitely need more than 20 though. Shoot for 60. Sit ups: You'll need a lot more than 40. I maxed out with like 95 or something. Remember that they are modified, with your arm touching your shoulders, you only have to touch your upper thigh. When coming down, let gravity guide you. Pull ups: standard really, no advice I can give you. The bar I had to use was pretty narrow lengthwise. 7 is good, I ended up with 12. Shuttle run: in total, it's 120 feet. Make sure you touch down with a different hand at each pivot point. For example, run 30 feet, pivot with left hand. Run back, right hand, run back, left hand, etc. If you use the same hand each time you'll end up going in an ovular pattern, losing about a foot's pace overall. Mile: My problem was that it was not conducted on a track and I could not pace myself very well. Yes, I prefer USMA over any other academy. Just don't [bleep] around like I did, I blew off two years that I could have spent applying myself. I took up a few classes, but I haven't really done much with my life since. This advice is based on USMA standards. I know that Annapolis is a little different (1.5 mile run I think?). Nope, this is it: :)
  20. One would have to devise a long and drawn out formula for calculating profit. Simply having the raw profit would be meaningless since it fluctuates daily. Truly, it's not worth the time - especially since I am no longer updating this guide. Sorry. :|
  21. Camino works well. Jagex currently does not support firefox 4, but 3.6 is still available for download and it works great.
