"I want a girlfriend/boyfriend", and other such relationship advice
Yeah, 17. And I'll have to try that. I have two good friends that date and maybe we could hang out with them or something. Who knows at this point in time.

So I'm gonna build a computer...
I have the same problem as you. I can easily put the computer together, but all those numbers and randoms letters just makes me want to jump out a window...

"I want a girlfriend/boyfriend", and other such relationship advice
I think I may have worded my problem wrong... I know she likes me a lot, but I think she is a rather private girl that doesn['t need the entire school getting in on our relationship.

How to find my PSU wattage.
Yeah, what he said. I just took my computer apart the other day and I think the wattage was right on the back of the PSU where you plug the thing in to.

"I want a girlfriend/boyfriend", and other such relationship advice
Hi guise. So last Wednesday I asked a girl I liked to be my girlfriend and she said yes. However, she kinda want's it on the DL for a bit, so that basically means I can't do anything boyfriend-ish (grab her waste, kiss her on the cheek, etc) just yet. So my question is...what should I do? School is really the only place I see her, although I am working on taking her to the movies this weekend possibly..

Things that annoy the hell out of you
My friend said fail like 5 or 6 times today. I have never heard him using it in the context he was today, lol. I think he may be turning into a nerd gamer when I'm not looking. :P

Military, anyone?
For the most part, what Kriegsmier said is what I was thinking. However, in the Air Force, if you get an admin job or any job that is mainly done at a desk, then you won't be seeing any battle. There is a good chance that you'll be stationed in a foreign country (whether it's a war country or an ally), but you'll be in one of the safest cities in that country. At least all of my friends parents ended up like that...

Military, anyone?
In the military, one is not given an impossibly hard job straight out of tech school. Sure, training could've been longer but that person will spend years in that field, getting better at it day by day. For you, I would suggest going to college for mechanics as that is a field that is big in the military and civilian world. When in the military, you decide it's not right for you, you can leave and find a very well paying job elsewhere. However some jobs don't really have a school for them in the civilian world. For instance, there is so college that will prepare you for Signal Intelligence Applications, besides schools that a particular service runs (i.e. the Community College of the Air Force, and tech school).

Military, anyone?
That's exactly what I hate. There are a few people in my AFJROTC unit that think they can go around yelling at people one rank lower then them when they are a freaking C/TSgt. Then there's the people that think they're gonna get officer when they don't do [cabbage] for the corps. I got officer rank my 2nd year because I was one of a few awesome cadets in the corps that actually did [cabbage]. Having done 90% of community services and never missing a drill team practice, I earned it (C/Maj. now, btw. About to get LtCol). I wouldn't really say that AFJROTC (or any ROTC program for that matter) really prepares you for what comes in basic training. There is almost no screaming at lower ranks in my unit, unless someone is being completely stupid. The only thing that can give you a heads up on what BMT (Basic Military Training) will be like is the Delayed Entry Program, which is what I'm in.

Military, anyone?
I know a lot of people like that. I, for one, like the system of hierarchy and earning your way up in the "food-chain" if you will. I've been in AFJROTC for 4 years now and have attained a staff position in my corps after years of working for it. I respect the rank of people who have earned and expect the same treatment from those below me, and above me for that matter.

More importantly, what's it stand for? @Lenin, the ASVAB is a fairly easy test and can be lengthy depending on where you take it. If you take it in HS, it's about 3 hours, but only half that if it is taken at MEPS. @Roccodog - Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery Zimbu, I suppose you're right that a mandatory military service would make it harder for atheltes, but I've never been a sports person so I can't really go with ya on that. :P OldJoe, you should've at least been able to pilot the bigger planes out there. But it must be different for your country.

Military, anyone?
Osutampa, it's total [cabbage] when they say you can do anything you want with a perfect score on the ASVAB. I only got a 72 on it and I qualified for everything with room to spare. Since you said you have bad eyes, that takes away a few jobs and I don't know how muscular you are, but if you have a similar build to me, some more jobs are taken out. By the sounds of it, you didn't experience the full MEPS trip, so that is one thing they left out I suppose.

Military, anyone?
I also have pretty bad eyes. Turns out my vision is about 20/100, with my left eye being really bad. I failed the depth perception test so I lost my first job choice which was intelligence applications. =/

Military, anyone?
Kriegsmier, Those seem like some very exciting jobs, lol. I'm hoping to get an intelligence job when I get in. The full name is Signal Imagery Analyst (or something like that). It pretty much entails working with computers signals and converting them to something understandable. Since one needs a top secret security clearance to have this job, there really isn't much more that can be said, and honestly, I don't know anymore about it. Lenticular_J, sorry to burst your bubble, but with eye problems the chance of becoming a pilot is pretty slim. If you join the AF, there is a good chance that you can be a navigator in some of the bigger planes, or maybe even a pilot if your eyes aren't super bad. BlueLancer, I believe that mandatory military service is a great idea. People are exposed to proper discipline and life skills that will definitely help them in the future (at least in American military). The times that a Finnish men have to serve are a bit low compared to us. Here, you have to serve at least 4 years of active duty and an additional 4 years of reserve, which is when they can call you back to active duty anytime they want.
-
Military, anyone?
Kriegsmier, I do indeed agree with you when you say the AF is a laid back service. Honestly, I do believe you that a Lt can call a full bird by his first name and get away with...since that's just how the Air Force rolls. And yeah, MEPS was a pain in the [wagon]. I had to go twice because the doctor there had to be an [wagon] and send me to a doctor back home for something stupid.

Military, anyone?
Yeah, the ANG (Air National Guard) is offering 10k signing bonus, but the government will get that money back out of you in the long run.
-
Military, anyone?
That is a very respectable field, Lenin. And yes, tech school for that will more then likely be very long (probably exceeding a year). As for the ASVAB, just wanting to go into Nuclear Propulsion indicates to me that you are fairly intelligent as it is, so getting a good score on it should not be a problem. EDIT:::Why the hell is everyone obsessed with the Army lately? I know they give good bonuses, but man...you're going straight overseas, lol.

If by cutbacks, you mean cut our guys back from Iraq, then yes. We don't need a military reduction, but Iraq is the most pointless waste of effort ever. Oh, I was speaking money-wise. Millions of dollars to bomb a place? Christ. -.- First off, millions of dollars is nothing compared to the 7 trillion dollar debt Bush got us in to. Secondly, we don't really bomb places anymore unless we have a real good reason.

Military, anyone?
After years of being on the interwebs, I have realized that a majority of the population that is on the internet are fairly intelligent people. They hold excellent grades in school (if they aren't in college yet) and strive to have skills that I can only dream of. However, I rarely meet someone who has intentions of joining the military (or anyone who is already in), so my question is, has anyone had serious thoughts of joining the armed forces for their country? If so, give a story as to why you chose it (if you did of course) and why you decided against college straight out of high school (if you're an American). My story goes like this. At the beginning of HS I wanted to enlist into the United States Marine Corps. But as time went on, I got drug more and more into joining the Air Force. With my senior year well on the way of completion, I just had to get in touch with a recruiter. Now you may be wondering why I didn't just go to college and get my commission as a Second Lieutenant in the USAF. First off, I wanted to start making money right off the bat and I can't earn any money by just being in AFROTC whilst at the University I was considering. Secondly, I can get the government to pay for my education at school after a while, so why spend my parents money and worry about scholarships when the country will pay for me to get smarter. As of now, I am in the Delayed Entry Program for the United States Air Force and waiting to get my shipping date for basic training (which is in June, I hope).

RuneScape lowering PC performance?
I had that same problem a while back. Then I uninstalled the newest version of Java and used an older version. After that it never happened again and my PC worked fine.

HDD equivolent to Crucial.com
That's just the thing. They are slowly getting rid of them and was wondering if there was an easy way (hence me making this thread) that could tell me what HDD would work.
