  1. If they were willing to do it like that, then I think most people would give them a month of no updates to allow them to set the whole process up without much complaint.
  2. But you must admit that the blogs as a substitution are very substandard and are abject failures in what their intended purpose was.
  3. Big holes? I don't remember anyone bringing up your mom. Burn! :^_^:
  4. It was "cute" with the Tooth Fairy, but yea, I agree... I find it kind of hard to imagine a Tooth Fairy being a general that's supposed to defeat the Orcs and the Fairy Godfather. I mean okay, we already saw the stereotypical-mafia speeches from the Fairy Godfather and I had hoped that'd be the end of that and puns, but I guess not. Again, cute, but not feels out of place with the overall storyline, even if the Tooth Fairy is a fairy. I mean I guess I can see where Tooth can be seen as something tough and all but the first thing that comes to mind for me when someone mentions "Tooth Fairy" is a cute little fairy that goes to the pillows of children who placed a tooth under their pillow, not a "OMG YOU NEED TO SHAPE UP AND FIGHT THIS DUDE" sort of Tooth Fairy. And no, Dwayne Johnson (the Rock) in "Tooth Fairy" movie doesn't count. >.> Tooth Fairy should've been there to give us the Fairy Tooth so we can travel by the Fairy Rings and also give us the little pet. Not having us grow Tooth Orcs. Why not grow Orcs from something else? I think Wooden orcs would've been fine and fit into the Farming process.
  5. What alwas bothered me about the BTS is basically how Jagex operates. When it comes to updates and how it seems they can be delayed further into the week over issues it seems as if they are just finishing up and update and shotting hot off the presses so to speak. But that isn't necessary. We could still have BTS and it can be done in a way that doesn't put strain on the content team. All they have to do is make sure a piece of content is ready to go before they mention it. In fact, have it done before you even give a hint as to it's existence. If you are going to do a BTS for the month of April let's say, have the content for April be completely done by Februrary. Then you can do it without so much hectic last minute work. Hell, all it takes it some decent planning.
  6. TS, I wasn't actually criticizing you specifically, but how most Times articles tend to completely gloss over the issues with updates and only talk about the good things. Basically what the Times does is accentuate the good parts of an update and hide the negatives as if they didn't exist. Maybe I did miss some of your criticism. Sadly you can not be subtle on the internet as text has no tone, no inflection, and very little that you can be sly about. If others got it and I didn't, then that's my issue. Put it to you this way, if Tip.it is a camera, and Runescape is what we are filming, than the Times is the coat of Vaseline on the lens.
  7. I guess I'd be a PEP, but a little more critical of new school updates that don't seem as fun as the old ones. I personally am terrible at making money. I have a lot from being around for so long. Oh, and I am hot too, just for the record. :)
  8. Well, the raiding aspect is going to be a failure. I don't think that really has a place in this game. Also to move into that field when so many other games do it and do it so much better is just insipid. I have no problem with Runescape being simplistic. My point is they're going to complicate a simple game and that is the bad part. As far as being a first step, I'd put it as the first step towards the edge of a cliff.
  9. II'd consider myself a Posessor, with the exception of believing in superiority of myself due to my items. I am proud of what I have and identify them by whatever name comes naturally. I also have lots of cash with no idea how to spend it since I don't want cosmetic items or really desire to use my money to make more money. Money is simply a byproduct of the way I play the game.
  10. Give it a few days, and I assure you, there will be a self-addressed letter of apology in your mailbox from Andrew himself. No, really! He is, I'm sure, very sorry that he and his staff forgot that you were the only player who read the KB. How silly of them, to include information in a Knowledge Base (which, dare I say, is a database of knowledge, be it common or less-so)! Surely, there have been no new players to the RPG scene, much less MMORPGs, who may not be so fluent in gaming lingo as yourself. At what point does it stop being "expressing ones opinion" and simply become "trolling", Lib? Come on now. When I can find a more specific definition for "trolling" other than: anything that one person says that another person doesn't like or agree with. I was being sarcastic about their simplistic approach. As well as criticizing their crappy team-based activity that lacks any real depth, originality, or use for that matter other than a handful of rewards. If you don't agree with what I said, then I must be just "trolling" again. <_<
  11. Because they spent so much time on it that they want people to play it forever. They also are likely going to devote a disproportionate amount of time on developing it in the future. I honestly think this will be the center around which they build Runescape from now on. Also, how many times are we going have to watch Tip.it kneel down and give Jagex a "Lewinsky?"
  12. A *lot* of people do. That's why you hear so much about it.
  13. FTP3 was good? Stupid quest storyline, a short quest after over a years worth of development diaries. The only decent part was the graphical rework of Zanaris, but that fell well short because it was supposed to also release bloom, but didn't because they couldn't get it up to snuff. Since Dungeoneering, it's been a joke. It'll be like that for a while until they do bath two for the skill, then float on that until next year. This is the year of awesomeness? <_<
  14. I don't think Runescape will ever really die. I do believe that it will turn into some incarnation of a game that doesn't even remotely resemble the game that they started out with. This will be done under the guise of "growth" and what we will end up with will be the eventual decline of interest in the game.
  15. I'm not sure how this works in the actual game, and whether it only applies to the inital "engagement" or any time during the fight, but it may be more efficent in rooms requiring the usage of a protection prayer to have one person attract all the powerful monsters. Their attack would then be blocked on that one person's protection prayer, rather than the the entire groups. Or maybe if one particular person had a huge defense bonus, he could simply tank all the monsters instead. Thanks Jagex for explaining to me what tanking meant. I had no clue. I mean I've only been hearing about it for 5 years, but since I played Runescape that whole time I had no idea. You guys are totally on the bandwagon now and are doing it nearly as well as any random Korean rpg that has been around for six weeks. Congratulations.
  16. I think I have to say this: What the hell happened? How did we go from a takeover of Zanaris to... teeth? A whole quest about teeth. Did some member of the content team have to get a root canal, and then under the influence of laughing gas thought that a quest about teeth would be good? What the hell? This little quest arc started out fine, but the storyline devolved into one of the stupidest quests ever, and yes, I'm including the quest for us searching for frozen Yeti turds. It's like somone had a novel idea for having the Tooth Fairy be apart of the quest for a nice little pun/joke and then went compltely overboard.
  17. Pretty much what I expected. They'd finish the skill, then the time after it would be completely barren. I think this is just the beginning.
  18. Secrecy is only an issue due to their using the supirse factor as a crutch to shore up their lackluster updates. Good content is good content regardless if people know about it. If it's good, people will want to play it. And its still a surprise the day you find out about it. Sure, the day you find out about it might be on a test server, but youll still be surprised by it... Well, if we know about it, and if it's good, no big deal. We'll wait for it and then play it. If we know it, and they hype it, and it sucks terribly like Mobilising Armies, then people dwell on it. The weekly updates and keeping them a secret is like a comedian telling jokes. If a joke/update bombs there is one coming right after it to take the focus. Jagex keeps things a secret in the name of protecting their work, but I don't think that's the real reason.
  19. Secrecy is only an issue due to their using the supirse factor as a crutch to shore up their lackluster updates. Good content is good content regardless if people know about it. If it's good, people will want to play it.
  20. A 30 minute quest? C'mon! It's epic. The quest itself is rather... meh. I agree that the Zanaris Graphics are very nice, but I just don't feel like their time was spent wisely on this. I do know that the graphics for Zanaris were done months ago and they reworked the final battle thing twice to make it better, which is what the delay was. So knowing that and seeing what came of it... just kinda... :-|
  21. People who have a differeing viewpoint than yours obviously haven't played it enough and don't have a valid viewpoint? I have level 40 so far and I still say it sucks.
  22. While the rewards are nice and the graphics are quite good, I'm still wondering that it took over a year for this? Certainly doesn't feel like it.
  23. That's not what I said. I just happen to think that Runescape players are, on the whole, very undemanding customers, and they get what they deserve. Since most RS players are willing to accept shoddy gameplay balance testing, "surprise" updates, poor communication, the company strong-arming fansites, "customer appreciation" events where nearly all customers are excluded and the others pay for the event -- well, by golly, that's what they get. I think that most of Jagex's output is pretty good myself. I just happen to believe it could be better, and that working for improvement is better than defending the status quo, usually with bogus arguments. I have grown weary of constantly being castigated as a "hater" or whatnot simply because, unlike most people it would seem, I value quality. I'd love to see a real, legitimate poll of players about what they think of how Runefest is being handled, or the flagstaff, or the chopping up of the RSOF. My guess is that the numbers would not be particularly complimentary towards some of the decisions made in these areas, among others. I would liken the situation to Buster Keaton movies from the 20's, then the 30's. In the 20's the movies were great, in the 30's their quality declined, but they made more money than the better movies that preceded it due to the name value and repuatition that he achieved. These updates are not as good as in the past, but Runescape has such a high value to some people for what they've done in the past that people blindly accept what they do in the present.
  24. That was epic, thanx for the laugh! De nada.
