Jagex doesn't want to promote it's competitors, that's the rub. I get that, but using perks to influence sites into what ads they run is I think wrong.

Bonegrinder offers nothing to prayer Gem bag and coal bag offer nothing to mining. Law and nature staves offer nothing to magic. The farming scroll offers nothing to farming Tome of frost offers nothing to magic Anti poison totem offers nothing to combat And all of the rest of the combat weapons and armor have no bearing on gameplay outside of the dungeon. But in reality, all of these items are ONLY useful outside of the dungeon. Your argument is just a blatant lie. All of these rewards are going to affect the world outside of dungeoneering. You are just looking at facts and dismissing them. Why? Because they're items, not the skill. Only the rewards from the skill offer anything outside of it. The skill itself offers *nothing* outside of itself. That was my point. As well as a skill this size should have more of those reward items at least.
-
I have to agree with Qeltar. Nothing from this skill affects the game outside of itself. Dungeoneering offers nothing to getting high levels other than going further into the skill. That right there puts it as a minigame. This would've been kickass on Funorb, but on RS it blows. You get no rewards from the skill itself only from the tokens you earn while training it. Also, while the rewards are very, very good, they're are very few of them at least as far a skill this size should have. After playing it for a day I have to say the Jagex laid a big goose egg with this thing. A few other things that I've heard that I thought were funny. "I'm a Catholic and even I thought this skill should've been aborted." "This skill is basically like Jagex getting pregant, taking it to full term, then giving birth to a stillborn skill." "This is the biggest mockery of the British since the movie "King Ralph." Again, i'm not saying that. Just what I heard and thought were funny.

Heeeey noooow. Dont drag me into this with your fancy dictionary. :P ( have no idea what discernable is btw and no dictionary I could find explained it without using other ridiculous words.) Discernable basically means any methods available to figure it out. Since I don't speak French, French words would not be discernable to me. And I can't figure out what your name means.
-
Its only trolling because you've posted the same thing 30 times in a row. And dungeoneering because no one would come up with that name - anyone could come up with "raiding", "instancing", etc. Oh, and this miniskill is pretty much "dungeon assualt" for runescape, except its game-generated and not player-generated. Nuh-uh. I said the same thing 29 times then said the name is dumb 1 time, so :P Also that name is so stupid that by comparison DenUsynlige is somewhat discernable. ;)
-
And while people may think this is trolling, could Dungeoneering have a stupider name? I mean seriously. It seems like they came up with this name because no one would think of anything so dumb and then Jagex could honestly say no one correctly guessed the name. I mean, why not go with something like Fickle Farting Farfennugens then? Gets the same job done.

Well, I was trying to be funny. Sorry if you don't like it, and if you don't like it, then you can GTFO. -
Not trolling, I'm just saying it stinks. That seems to be the general conclusion amongst the players. People just call it trolling because I try to say the same thing but with some humor/sarcasm/wit. I think the most damning thing that can be said about it is not it's simply not fun. No trolling, sarcasm, etc. Just a straight opinion that I share with others. On another note this is the biggest update of the year. That means the rest of the year is gonna... well you can probably guess.

The new game is dull and repetitive, so you are off to train a skill where you go to one room and kill 100-200 of the same monster, then get a new assignment and go to another area that will be exactly the same as it was the last 50 times you were there. How is that less repetitive? This is the most idiotic thing youve ever said. Sorry, forgot my Sarcasm tags. :P But Slayer is more fun because it provides good money and just enough of a certain monster before I get so tired of it that I quit, though tasks over 200 bug me. This skill is going to be terribly, terribly repetitive unless changes are made. And technically yes, no more minigames, they're called Activities. Well then, this is an activity, and not a particularly good one in my opinion. I think Jagex was highly blinded by the satisifaction they got out of creating this that the final product is... bleah. It would be like working on a car, you love working on the car, it provides hours of fun and interest, but too bad you were working on a '02 Hyundai Accent and when the car is finished it's a crappy car. So basically this skill = '02 Hyundai Accent. Den said it well. By level 7 everyone seems to get sick of it, and I'm not BSing, like every single person seems to come to that at level 7.

It's not fun. It's dull and repetitive, even on members. God I could only imagine what it's like on F2P. Back to Slayer.

Will it suck? Take a guess. ;) -
Remember how they said that this was going to be a game in itself, but they decided that the it would integrate perfectly in Runescape? Well, it doesn't integrate with Runescape perfectly, or at all, and it turned out to be a game. A minigame... <_<

Oh, and I don't think they spent two years on Summoning. Given the time and effort involved in this skill I think it should've been a lot better off the bat.
-
I think what kind of gets to me is 1) I don't see two years of work in this. Sorry, but I just don't. 2) It incorporates every other skill, but is a skill exclusive to itself. You can only train it in one place and only one way. 3) Like mentioned above, it's repetitive due to lack of training options. Even Summoning let you get some exp for summoning a pouch or making a scroll even if the main exp was from making Pouches. The problem with this is their is no other ways to train. Everything else, except Summoning, is seething with variety (hunting, mining, smithing, etc) this isn't.

Yes, the guy to purchase the hammer is at the Blast Furnace.
-
D, I found the whole thing repetitive because of the slow skill experience that you, as a solo player, have to do the same floors over and over again for the minimal experience. It just wears and tears on your patience until you find something more interesting. That's just my experience with it though.
-
Also, I'd like to point out that as far as Instanced Dungeons go, Runescape is terribly outclassed by other games.
-
Rav, it's not like SC because SC doesn't have Farming. So it's like Shattered Heart + Combat or SC + Farming. And Omali, basing that on what I've seen on here and talking to people on RS. Most, as far I can tell, don't seem to care for it much.
-
D First of all, while you can solo, this is a secondary option. it's clearly designed for group play. Much like GWD, while you can solo it it is rather despite the fact that it is meant to be teamed. Second, it's slow and tedious. I find it rather repetitive and not very rewarding. Third: It's a minigame, not a skill. Fourth: It's like Shattered Heart but with some combat. Fifth: It's a skill made up of every other kind of skill. Interesting concept, but in this case I think it's failed. In summary, I think the skill falls in the category of Mobiliging Armies. I think Jagex was too blinded by the concept, interesting to code, large size of update, and the graphics involved. And I think they had a bit of a "Honeymoon phase" when playing it because of all the hard work into it they were predisposed to liking it. I think they saw it as a little brighter than it was. Now that most of players are in it, well... they don't like it. Let's be real here. The whole community is taking a dump on it. Granted they may be able to tweak and fix it, but from what you read of their posts they seriously believed that people were going to love this from day one. They are not.
-
Personally I think it's bad as well as *bad for me.* This is rather lame IMO.
-
To me, it feels like this skill will be a failure. Some people seem to like it, but many more seem to not.
-
Hey good for you, I thought you were stubborn. Also I think Jagex may have accidently greated nerfed f2p mage once again. If the KB is right then you can have a +110 range attack maple longbow. Mages will get slaughtered this way. Why does everyone want to make me out to be some bitter, unhappy malcontent? I'm not. I simply take nothing for granted.
-
I've talked to a few other people and apparently it can be done by yourself, and done decently well, so yes I was wrong. I can admit I was wrong. I'm not the pessimist everyone makes me out to be. However, the same people are also telling me that like Qeltar said, it feels like a minigame more than a skill. And when Jagex said they were doing something that had never been done in another game what were they talking about? From everything I can tell this is nothing new...
-
paw, if there is a viable, and I say viable, option for players to solo the dungeon than I will admit that I was wrong. However from everything I've seen here and heard from friends in order to do it in any effective way you need a group.
-
That is my idea of fun, actually, though I don't know (and neither do you) if that's the case. Clearly it's designed for groups and that makes me not want to play it. There are *tons* of group RPGs out there. RS was great because it was so easy to play Solo. Why did they spoil that? Grom how is my perspective lacking? Because it's different than yours and I dislike group play?
