You hit the nail right on the head there. Well said.

But then the important question comes: Is it really possible for the rest of the world to survive easily without the USA? As long as the USA pays off all of that debt.... Oh, really? I can't even respond to this.

If a civillian showed up while your house was burning and saved you, would you ask them "Who made you fireman?"

How about I have rights, and it's the President's job to defend them? Apparently you don't care if your rights are trampled on, so long as you "live unhindered." Sorry, I can't adhere to such totalitarianism that can and will be abused if it continues. You might like to pretend that the fourth amendment to the Constitution doesn't exist, but I don't. It's as real as my right to free speech, probably the second most important amendment behind the first. I'm sorry that you embrace such Orwellian rules like these, perhaps when your rights are infringed upon "directly" after an ever expansion of the government's secrets you'll understand why things of this nature are dangerous and illegal. It's the President's job to govern America as he sees fit. No, I do not. This doesn't prove anything. I couldn't care less what you can and can't adhere to. I'm Canadian, so I haven't a clue what this "fourth amendment" is, but from what I can tell it probably relates to privacy? Dangerous? Yes. Necessary under extenuating circumstances? Yes. Illegal? No. There is no law that insures privacy.

There's always Africa.

You are virtually an Anarchist, do you realize that? I don't understand your problem with government wiretaps. What on earth could you have on your conversations that the government would care about? Unless you're talking about blowing up Parliament, there's no reason for you to hide anything.

Iowa, and now Vermont, Pass Same-Sex Marriage Laws
Robert_de_Sable replied to Range_This11's topic in Off-Topic
It has nothing to do with religion, it just isn't natural. The bilological purpose of sex is reproduction, the fact that it feels good is just an incentive. homosexuality is natural though, it can happen by a gene, is naturally occurring in humans, and can be caused by traumas experienced in someone's life. Reproducing feels good to you, but to homosexuals, it can be just as weird as you think it is for them to like it in a different sense. but do you realize the prostate is the male equivalent to the [bleep]oris, and it feels better for men when they have anal sex? and with lesbianism, woman can do pretty much the same men can do to them. The fact is gay sex might seem weird to you, but to them it's normal, and your normal forms of intercourse, could be considered weird to them. Also, if you look at the fetishes people have, It is deemed to be normal by society(to an extent of what the [specialInterest] itself is, but fetishes in general are accepted), it's the same thing with homosexuality, but most people don't think of it in the same way. I know I screwed something I said in there up, but im not sure what. There is no "homosexual gene." If there were, it would constitute a genetic mutation; which is a disease, and one could infer that homosexuality is a disease. As it is, there are fools do try to make that chimeric argument. -
The government knows when an earthquake is coming, but for the sake of keeping things orderly, they don't say anything. Pity, especially in this case.

It was intended as rhetoric. Doesn't matter, I suppose.

I was asking specifically so that I could post this. As long as it's not against the rules, for the moment it's the only literature thread I'll be posting. ;) Hubris is Hitler's birth right up until 1936. I haven't even tried to read it. Nemesis is 1936-1945 and an absolutely brilliant book, detailing the "ceaseless radicalization" the Nazi party imposed and exactly how things got rolling in Europe for WW2. I count one. Do you have some sort of brain dysfunction?
-
Has anyone read these books? I skipped straight to Nemesis, and after about two hours I'm on page 73 and I can't stop reading.
-
Doesn't mean we also shouldn't have a literature forum. EDIT: Post # 666. =D>
-
We have no books forum. We need one. For heaven's sake, we have a forum for gaming but not for reading?

As much as I appreciate your hands-on example with this bothersome thread, would you please stop tergiversating and post somethign useful yourself?

It has one word of mention. Would you like me to have said "A certain government that I support but cannot say because a certain self-righteous whiny user doesn't want me to?"
-
What kind of government would it be? What would be the first thing you did? What adjustments would you make to your country? Please try and answer these seriously. My answers: What kind of government would it be? An Authoritarian one, ideally. What would be the first thing you did? Divert about forty billion dollars to the armed forces and purchase tanks and artillery. What adjustments would you make to your country? I'd take funding away from the arts. If a museum can't survive without government grants, it clearly isn't well-appreciated enough to bother supporting.

North Korea has the fourth largest army in the world, and the second an army moves in on North Korea, Seoul(25 or so million people) gets flattened by NK artillery. Remember the Korean War? Thank you, Captain Redundant. Anyway, war measures need to be taken against this country before it's too late. Excellent point. It's definitely a scary thought though. It's pretty obvious that should a third world war take place, there will be nuclear weapons involved.

The harsh reality is that you're really just going to have to drop the gaming consoles. Unplug them, whatever it takes, but as long as you have the temptation to use them, you're screwed.

North Korea is ranked fourth in the world in terms of active troops.

As a Canadian I must admit I am not particularly familiar with the American constitution, but doesn't that part of it speak only of American citizens? -

QFT. Religion holds back civilization. no it doesn't. people hate gays because they hate gays. (stupid but true.) i'm atheist and i'm strictly against gay people and their cultures. People hate gays because people say that god said they should. The Bible Argument is [cabbage]. The Bible also says that he who works on the Sabbath will have to be put to death. Unfortunately, I must go to school during the Sabbath. Do I have to kill myself, or can I turn myself in? Reference points, anyone?
